  1. As a ice cream aficionado, below are the best I have found in a long time at the grocery store.
  2. Taking the wife to her dream concert, Garth Brooks, next weekend in Dallas. I am not a fan as I only know the Friends in Low Places song but hopefully he puts on a great show.
  3. 1000%. I was talking to a company a few months back about a very lucrative position (way more than my current one), but I found out the CEO wants everyone in the office 5 days a week from 8am to 5pm. Once I heard that I was totally not interested in that company. I had no desire to commute an hour each way in traffic so maybe that makes me lazy or not a "go getter" but the trade off for more money to working from home and spending time with my family (or running up to the golf course to play a few holes in the middle of the week) is more important to me at this point in my life. Not sure if that makes me dumb or smart.
  4. I have been remote for over 20 years so Covid didn't really have an impact on me other than I couldn't travel for 2 years. Now that travel is back to normal I can work from anywhere in the US (I need to fly around and see my customers) but wish I could do my job from another country.
  5. I will tell you that I know a lot of "rich" people that definitely live paycheck to paycheck. One of our friends here in Dallas lost her job a few years ago and she told my wife she had 2 months to find a new job or her and her husband wouldn't be able to pay their mortgage. They live in a $800K house and are your typical upper middle class type people who don't save a penny and have nothing in the bank but spend, spend, spend. I don't feel bad for people like this. I do feel bad for the people struggling to make ends meet, living paycheck to paycheck, that aren't living above their means but are just trying to get by paying for rent, food, and necessities. I bet if everybody in North Dallas lost their jobs tomorrow over half would have no money in the bank within 3 months if not sooner and have no idea how to pay for their McMansions and luxury car leases. Sad but true.
  6. I played golf this morning with a guy who told us an interesting story. He is in the insurance business and he mentioned talking to his account rep/VP from a big insurance company. The VP no longer lived in the US as he decided to move to Sicily during Covid. Apparently, his company asked him when he is moving back and he said "I am not and plan on doing my job from here via email/zoom". The company said OK you do you. Make me jealous as my job requires me to be located in the US.
  7. I can't wait to hear him say the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump and Biden is not the real President.
  8. Yeah, I post on those. I was just wondering if it's just a thing with this board or actually a very wide spread thought process throughout Texas.
  9. I see shit like this and it's off to Realtor.com to look for places other than TX to live. I wonder how many other Texans are possibly considering moving due to the direction of this state. Sadly, there are tons of Republicans in other states that see this stuff and say, "I really need to move down to Texas".
  10. I posted on another thread about this but I am seriously considering getting a summer condo or something in the Seatle area (still need to be near an airport for work). Now I just need the real estate market to collapse for a little bit so I can buy something up there at a decent price. I was in Vancouver, BC Saturday night and it was 60 degrees and quite nice just wandering around the downtown area up there. It sucked coming back to TX on Sunday and 108 degree weather.
  11. I thought this was the 2022 golf thread of dominance.
  12. The best I have done on my course is about 2 hours and 10 minutes but that is on a weekday (pre covid when everyone else was actually working and I had the course to myself) so 2 hours is definitely possible.
  13. Seems like future Majority Leader of the Senate material to me.
  14. So which goes first, the drought stricken/no water North TX area or the newly categorized Category 7 Super Hurricanes with 300mph winds that wipe out Houston and the TX coast? If we just make climate change a gambling game we can all have fun, right? Right?
  15. My current skills are Ninja and dynamite clown juggler. Do you think I can get in?
  16. You are missing the long game for the Republican politicians in states like MS, AL, etc… Once they bring back slavery then they will have plenty of people to choose from for that.
  17. Pretty sure they have a No Texans Allowed sign at the border. I was talking about asylum not general. I can’t leave the US since my job won’t allow it. Seriously thinking of getting a home elsewhere, like Seattle for the summers and then if need be use it full time if TX keeps getting worse. The wife thinks anything over 75 degrees is hot (and she is a born and raised Texan) but this is probably not the best climate for what she likes now.
  18. I am in Vancouver right now with the family and my wife wants to seek political asylum and stay here permanently. She does not want to go back to the TX summer heat after wandering around downtown Vancouver this evening in the 62 degree weather. The TX politics aren’t making her too happy about living there either. I told her Vancouver would never accept us so maybe we need to settle on the Pacific NW for a summer home or something.
  19. Which actor has a better resume in such a small amount of time? He only did 5 films; The Godfather, The Conversation, The Godfather Part II, Dog Day Afternoon and The Deer Hunter and all 5 were nominated for Best Picture plus he was engaged to Meryl Streep and then he dies of lung cancer. As far as the OP's question these movies are my 1A and 1B for best ever. I give a slight advantage to Part II just because it seemed so original in the way it went back and forth with Michael's timeline and young Vito's timeline. To me one of the most iconic scenes in any movie ever is Michael giving Fredo the "kiss of death" and saying, "I know it was you Fredo, you broke my heart". In Part II you also get the Young Vito murder of Don Fanucci scene which is perfect and the Fredo scene of him saying, "I'm smart and I want respect" which would have been even better if he was wearing an Aggie t-shirt while he says that. That being said I could probably change my mind over and over and pick part I based on my mood but tonight it's Part II.
  20. Just get on one of these and you don’t have to worry about the po folk. https://www.ritzcarltonyachtcollection.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=1064612570&gclid=Cj0KCQjwn4qWBhCvARIsAFNAMiiKe6msPPea63ZRB8CtgcIX66pEDXRQaQ3aqIRJPHhrSpLqy3UxRIMaAvhdEALw_wcB
  21. Well, I leave Friday for an Alaskan cruise actually(assuming the family passes our Covid test). This will be my 3rd Alaskan cruise in the last 6 years. I took the family 6 years ago and figured we would never go back. A year after that I had to go on one for work with some clients and then the one this week is the result of my father in law deciding he is old and wants to spend his money before he dies so he is taking his kids and grandkids on this cruise and paying for it. (Me with 14 of my wife’s family may not work out so well but we got the unlimited drinks package so that should help). I would highly recommend doing the Alaskan cruise as it gets you to a lot of places you can’t get to if you just fly to Alaska (Hubbard Glacier, Glacier Bay). Also, it is way more subdued than a Caribbean cruise which some may find boring but I am cool with it. The excursions in Alaska in the ports are really expensive but can be kind of cool. We have done tons of whale watching boats and the first time up there took a helicopter up to the top of a glacier to go dog sledding with Iditarod dogs at their summer camp. As far as cruises go, you just need to understand what you are getting yourself into. They are like a floating all inclusive resort that takes you to a different place every day. The food is decent but not Michelin Star level so you just need to have expectations on that. Avoid Carnival at all costs or you will get the shitty experiences of a bunch of poors on a cruise ship. I would say avoid Galveston departures also for this reason. We do Princess up in Alaska because they are really good with the itineraries they offer and stuff like brining park rangers or naturalists on board to point out all the animals and glaciers you are seeing. We have done Celebrity Cruises over in the Mediterranean/Adriatic and had a blast. Once again, avoid Carnival and cheap priced cruises and you end up with a fun vacation.
  22. Watch the video in the post above yours. It helped me.
  23. Just finished and really dig this show a lot but I have no idea what just happened. I have like a 100 questions. Someone want to explain it to me like I am a 5 year old.
