  1. Just my opinion but below are some movies I still enjoy and think hold up. Chinatown Patton The Last Picture Show The Sting Serpico Dirty Harry Mash (its campy but I still love it) Blazing Saddles
  2. Yeah, plus there is no way this country would elect a politician from Arkansas to be President….. unless he plays the saxophone.
  3. Daily Catch and Giacomo’s are my favorites in the North End since my cousin closed his restaurant down a few years back. Also, go to Mike’s Pastries and get some pistachio macaroon cookies. They are fantastic.
  4. I know I will get shit for this but after all these years I finally watched The French Connection. I thought it kind of sucked. It seemed like there were whole scenes that should have been added to make the movie flow better. To me it doesn’t hold up like other great movies from the early 1970’s do like The Godfather 1 and 2.
  5. This is the truth. I look around and no matter how much I make it seems like everybody out there has started their own company and sold it for 5 million, 10 million, 100 million or whatever and those are the folks I look at as rich.
  6. The draft rules allowed a team to draft a player in his 5th year after high school graduation, which Bird was at that point because he went to Indiana originally but transferred his first year to Indiana State. The Celtics had the time between the end of his college season to sign him, otherwise he would go back into the draft. It was a huge risk for the Celtics, if he didn't sign they would end up with nothing for the prior year's draft pick. Bird, even though already drafted, stayed to play his senior/5th year at Indiana State and took them to the college championship and lost to Magic. As to the show Winning Time, I finally watched and quite enjoyed it even though I hate the Lakers more than anything. I really enjoyed the Roger Murdoch/Airplane scene and Kareem telling the kid off after he asked for a picture with him. I hated all of these Laker players and Riley growing up so it’s weird to watch this without nearly as much hatred towards them as I used to have. As to the other NBA topics in this thread, the Celtics Big 3 was nothing like the Heat. They were all actually older/very close to past their prime type players in Garnett, Pierce and Allen. The Heat put 3 of the Top 10 players in the league at the time together. I grew up a Celtics fan as my whole family is from Boston but I actually grew up in Miami so I have been a Heat fan since their first season. I actually liked Lebron when he came to the Heat (as a fan of the team would) and didn’t blame him for leaving the Cavs as they never put a good team around him. That being said, I hate Lebron for leaving Miami the way he did. His PR folks made it all about going home but the truth was he saw Wade and his injured knee and the whole team aging and realized he couldn’t win more there so he went back to the Cavs who had a budding super star in Kyrie and the #1 pick which he knew would be traded for Love. Love at the time was considered a top young PF in the league. Once Love injured his back and Kyrie was injury prone he bailed on Cleveland and went to LA to try and form another super team with Unibrow. Lebron is one of the greatest ever but the multiple moves to a better situation is not a good look to me.
  7. i will save you some time. It was all a big conspiracy done by the CIA, Mafia, and the Cubans.
  8. If you ask a majority of Republicans about Russia right now they will tell you Trump and his administration was the hardest president ever on Russia/Putin and Biden is the one that is on Russia’s side. Facts don’t matter to these people and they go by what Fox News and the R’s tell them. I watched like 5 minutes of the Sunday political shows yesterday and got to see Nikki Haley spewing how Trump was incredibly tough on Putin and of course Chuck Todd was not able to call her out on that crap.
  9. Piaget is great and all but it’s not a Rochefoucald! You know….. the thinnest water-resistant watch in the world. Singularly unique, sculptured in design, hand-crafted in Switzerland, and water resistant to three atmospheres. This is the sports watch of the 1980s. Six thousand, nine hundred and fifty-five dollars retail! It tells time simultaneously in Monte Carlo, Beverly Hills, London, Paris, Rome, and Gstaad!" But in Russia it’s worth 50 rubles.
  10. So if Putin says the sanctions are a declaration of war then what countries have sanctioned Russia at this point? Sounds like he is declaring war against most of the world, right?
  11. I get that we can't or won't get involved in Ukraine because of the idea of WWIII but what is the red line for us to get involved? If Putin takes Ukraine and installs his puppet government, do we think he is done or does he go after all non-Nato ex USSR countries to add them back into the Russian empire? If we do nothing with Ukraine then do we also do nothing if Albania, Moldova, Hungary, Armenia, etc... are next to be invaded?
  12. The Duke’s might be trying to corner the market on wheat.
  13. That’s funny that you actually think we will make it 8 more years.
  14. “I didn’t watch but will give my opinion based on what Fox News told me to say.”
  15. Just saw this thread. I had ‘em 10 years ago. Worst pain I have ever felt. I had to go to the ER and they hooked me up to an IV and gave me morphine. Didn’t even touch the pain. They hit me with a second dose of morphine after 20 or so agonizing minutes and it did nothing for the pain. They finally hit me with Tordol and that knocked me out and the pain with it.
  16. Just saw Matthew Dowd say that Trump endorsed 33 races in TX and all 33 people he endorsed will win or be the leader in their run off. It shows Trump’s hold on the Republican Party in TX and I am sure it’s the same everywhere.
  17. You have 3 hips? I’m no doctor but I don’t think that’s right.
  18. I know it won’t happen and I will use the Republicans as an example since they are the opposition party right now but this goes for the Dem oppositions when a Republican is the President. After the SOTU speech how hard is it to say, “We don’t agree with all of their ideas but there are 5 things we agree with and we want to work on those items to help the American people”. If you listen to the Iowa governor she painted Biden and the dems as evil and all their ideas are bad for the country. I mean when he says “let’s lower the price of Rx drugs” maybe the Republicans can say that’s a good idea and will help all Americans so let’s work on that. I will add, and maybe others know more about this, but once the R’s took control of the Senate during the Obama years how many laws did they pass or was 100% obstruction? So far in the first year of Biden’s presidency have they agreed to any laws being passed to help the American people? Maybe they have as I don’t pay real close attention to this so please let me know.
  19. He spoke about voting rights being infringed upon by new state laws and we should pass two different voting rights acts in the Senate.
