  1. I’m pretty sure the few Republicans living in Portland would cheer for this even as the mushroom clouds engulfed them.
  2. I hear your argument and I see your points but do you not find it strange that Tucker felt the need to go on national TV and defend Putin? We are talking about a bad guy in Putin and there is no grey area about it. Putin is pure evil and it shouldn’t really matter if you are a conservative or a liberal, a Democrat or a Republican. If half the country is going to be brainwashed by Fox News to be on Putin’s side then Putin has already won and the US is finished. Where is that door to Brisket’s ledge again?
  3. It should really make people wonder why when a foreign leader is about to invade (or already has invaded a country) would Tucker Carlson go on TV to defend him to his United States audience. I get free speech and all that but the CIA/NSA/FBI should really be looking into what Fox News is broadcasting at this point. It seems like Putin is bankrolling Tucker (or the Republican party) and since this is considered “news” it is as dangerous as yelling “fire” in a crowded movie theater if not more so. I have a hard time believing that someone could have given Walter Cronkite some money back in the day and then he would go on national TV and tell us all about how Khrushchev is really a good guy since he didn’t try and take your jobs or call you a racist. I prefer not to throw the word, “traitor” around too lightly but between Trump/Tucker/etc… we really are seeing traitors to our country and they aren’t even hiding it.
  4. I’m pretty sure any day now, Fox News will be saying it’s actually Antifa invading Ukraine and not Russia.
  5. I agree with the bolded part. This chimpanzee reminds me of the current Republican party.
  6. You forgot about that tan suit and grey poupon. I mean if we are going to do the both sides thing then let’s put everything out there that equals trying to overthrow the government. Sadly, this whole Ukraine thing is a shit deal for everyone opposed to Russian expansion. You either go to war with them or sit back and watch him take one country after the other. If the leader of a powerful nation wants to start WWIII it seems like its not that hard to do apparently. I’m not sure sanctions will work as he may just continue to take back the old USSR. When was the last time some guy in charge of a powerful country started invading his neighboring countries in Europe?
  7. If Trump was still President he would be sending US troops on the side of the Russians to help Putins peace keeping mission in Ukraine.
  8. It’s basically hypnotoad for the Right.
  9. Yeah, not every hour probably. Saw it a couple of times, but I don't watch much Fox. Maybe they are floating the trial balloon to see how it goes over.
  10. Is that 2023 recruiting nightmares? I think Arch Manning solves that. Sorry, I didn’t mean to Recruiting Board up the Cloak Room.
  11. Actually, Fox News has been pushing the Biden is handling this Ukraine deal poorly. They had some R on yesterday saying we should have done sanctions already and that would have stopped Putin from invading. Basically, they are trying to frame it so if Putin invades then it was Biden’s fault because he didn’t do the sanctions early enough.
  12. I would guess 80% of Republicans would answer Hillary Clinton to this question.
  13. Anybody know who this David Cutcliffe guy is? In all seriousness, David is actually the brother in law of Eddie Oran (David is married to Eddie’s sister). I wonder if Eddie helped put in a good word for UT since I think he is still doing UT Basketball games.
  14. Is there a reason the HOF hates classic rock from the 1970’s/1980’s? Groups like Foreigner, Boston, Bad Company, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Grand Funk Railroad, seem to be HOF worthy yet the HOF is more interested in rap/pop acts or obscure acts. That being said, Lionel Richie is a musical genius and he and the Commodores should be in along with Pat Benatar and A Tribe Called Quest. Also, Underdog’s take on Carly Simon having the best Bond song is absolutely correct. Nobody does it better is great and a close second would be For Your Eyes Only. Older folks might go with something like Goldfinger but I digress.
  15. Yeah, I get I am not getting a deal in this market, but my current home in the neighborhood should sell for more than I expected a few years ago also. The question is in 10-15 years from now is that house with a lake view worth a lot more than my current house/property not with a lake view. In another words, just using made up numbers, but does a $500K house with no view backing up to other homes become say $750K 15 years from now but a $1million dollar house become $1.5 million or higher based on the view. I guess that is what I am contemplating.
  16. They are actually allowing people to build smaller one story homes (by small I mean 2500-3000 sq ft). The two stories start around 3700 and go up to 5K or something like that. So yes, they are cool with that.
  17. I am basically screwed as I want to stay in this neighborhood but waiting isn’t an option because I am trying to downsize and move to a one story house. Everyone that buys these lots puts a giant 4500 sq foot and up McMansion on them and I don’t need that at this point in my life. So it puts me in the position where I have to get gouged now if I ever want the opportunity to have one of these lots. It just sucks.
  18. So, if I don’t need to move, BUT really wanted a lake house is it stupid to be taken advantage of in this market? The other builders are doing blind bids on their lot premiums. They tell anyone and everyone that this lot is up for sale starting at $300K for example and then you can blind bid and the highest bidder gets the right to pay them for the lot. This builder is basically going by a list (still charging the $300K for the lot) but I figure in a blind bid those lot prices may have doubled do to the influx of folks from CA with cash. Basically, I am trying to decide if the investment is worth it. I strongly believe lake front (in Dallas near the HQ’s of Frito Lay, Dr. Pepper, Toyota, PGA, etc…) will appreciate at a high rate since these type of views are very limited in this area. I am not real estate expert so I could be totally wrong on that assumption.
  19. If referring to my post a little more detail on your response please.
  20. Was hoping to get some advice/opinions on a new build. In a nutshell I have been waiting for a lake lot in my neighborhood to go up for sale for a few years. I live in a "master planned" type community so the lots are owned by big builders (Highland Homes, American Legend, Britton Homes, etc...). I have been on a list to be able to get one of these lots which are highly sought after. The lots won't be availble I am guessing until next month at which point I will need to decide if I should buy and build a new home. My question is about what you experts see as the future of construction costs. The builder I have to use is Britton Homes and they told me their prices on the homes have gone up $85K in the last 6 months and they expect these to continue to go up over the next year. I know there are all the shortages in labor and building supplies but is this still going on in the future or are they gouging at this point. They also said that the only way to lock in the "new build" is to pay a $100K extra in their "buy now, build now" program. If you pay that extra $100K it locks in the price and you are guaranteed the home. If you don't do the $100K you have to wait until the framing stage of the house (built as a spec home) but then you risk another customer coming in and offering them the $100K and they will boot me out and my place on their wait list for a lake lot and give that lot to the other customer. Seems really shitty to me to put that $100K premium on a house just to be allowed to build with them but maybe that is the norm now.
