  1. Ya the accelerator has a very slight perception that it’s speeding up as beater approaches batter. It’s not a huge difference but I decided on the accelerator for me. The 9000 model has a mechanism to change between turbo and accelerator so you essentially get both. The 9000 to me was very nice, almost too nice, too smooth. Kind of sterile feeling vs the 5000. I just felt the 5000 gave back more feedback to the foot than the 9000. The other thing that discouraged me from the 9000 was the spring was located inside the framework, not the outside like 99% of pedals, way too close to toes imo
  2. Newest addition….I had been wanting to try a DW for a long time, so got a chance to try a 5000 and 9000 model. I actually liked the 5000 a bit more, so I ordered 5000 AD4 (accelerator). This has an eccentric shaped cam versus the turbo models linear cam. I really like it. It feels very good under foot. I can see why this 5000 has been such a pedal legend for 4 decades.
  3. Nice. I have found the vid of it on YT….but can’t find the photo….it’s from 1974 and Willie is playing in DKRs living room I think….and on the couch singing along is a dude that sure looks like Lee Corso. Lol.
  4. Yup….he’s a better actor than will
  5. Pussy is definitely undefeated….but with a 100 mill on the line, that’s not even near the caliber of puss to take the loss on
  6. How many years have they been sec now? Have those fucks played Georgia yet?!
  7. Brilliant job by both lines. Especially the O line after the rice performance. Horns with 5 sacks….bama zero. Enjoy it, Horns! But don’t eat too much cheese….get ready for Wyoming!
  8. Was cruising thru DCPs new arrivals and this popped up. No idea on that price, but looks very clean https://www.drumcenternh.com/used-fibes-4pc-austin-era-acrylic-drum-set-amber-usd-081423jt-4rf
  9. Or the online has “vastly improved communication”
  10. Damn….they do come in 3s. Ozzy dodges it again
  11. Oh ya those are badass, dinosaur or not. A bit out of my price range….but I can already tell, if I was going to allocate serious bread….it should go to the overhead bucket
  12. Nice! What are you using for overheads? I already have buyers remorse on these audix overheads that came in the kit. Lol
  13. I wanted to add some tom mics to my audix mic kit….. I came across these atm230s. These sound great! And inexpensive, the 3 pack is a bargain. The perfect little tom mics. Solid build, nice clip, excellent off axis rejection from the cymbals. Easy to get into tight spaces. They have some heft to them, but I noticed no tonal change out of the tom tune with these clipped on.
  14. They both got held every fuckn down in Lubbock the year before…..Yormark was supervising the zebra crew
  15. Keep at it, sidis. The most important part is do something routinely. Rudiments are boring as hell….so do a rudiment exercise….then play a song you really like. Keep it fun. The best diet or physical exercise routine is completely useless if you flame out of the desire. But what rudiments will add up to IMO is hand/foot pattern speed. Controllable speed. When you build that speed, songs that seemed impossibly fast before will “slow down” and you’ll play it better than you ever have.
  16. I read the specs on that superkick 2……I’d say the factory gretsch reso might just be the ticket for the sound she prefers.
  17. It sounds good with the factory reso. After installing this single ply, no ring control ambassador, it is quite a bit subdued in comparison….but it’s a nice, round, warm tone about it. The factory head has a thick coating plus a thickish control ring underneath. I never tried it ported, however. There is not much beater sound to it. I’m getting quite a bit more beat/click with the ambassador reso. I’m still using the factory batter (PS3 clear I believe). No slam patch. Felt end on the beater.
  18. The top rug is a zildjian drum rug. Underneath that is a couple of squares of rubber gym flooring….leftover from when I converted a bedroom into a workout room. Then of course the carpet and carpet pad. I figured the more layers separating the concrete slab from the drum kit the better.
  19. I was going to port my factory white coated kick reso, but decided I’d try a different head altogether. This is a single ply ebony ambassador. Got the little port cutting tool (which worked great btw) and the protective ring. I really like the sound of it, also easy to maneuver any dampening inside the drum. The beater bounces (dribbles) quite a bit less off the batter head. A different playing experience for sure versus unported.
  20. Looks nice! But the floor is not squared off….16x14. I guess the burnt orange kit is the only renown to get the squared off floors 14x14 and 16x16. Also the 22x14 kick Regardless it’s a very nice kit and will sound and look great
  21. sidis, if your kit is always inside, never outside or in humid areas….i would not lube the tuning rods/lugs at all….unless they became extremely difficult to turn. If those do get lubed, they tend to back off too easily and the drum will lose the tune. Not sure if your kit has them or not….but DW is about the only company that uses fine pitched threads on those rods….like 50/inch. It gives you more infinite tuning but it also takes more turns to tighten those down. Be careful with those and be sure they’re squared up before torquing those down. Almost every other drum company uses standard threads, so if you lose a DW true pitch rod do not grab a standard rod by accident to replace. Now hardware like the kick pedal or high hat stand….absolutely lube those mechanisms per DWs recommendation on lube type. I believe your DWs are finished with a clear coat….so a microfiber rag and a detail spray (something like mcguries quick detail spray) would be just fine. If you really want to get snazzy, you could add a carnuba wax occasionally. Cymbals can be polished….however, some come out of the factory with a coating on top. You cannot polish those, just wipe them down. Personally I do not polish cymbals….just a wipe clean occasionally. The sound will darken slightly over time. My zildjian K Custom Brilliant ride has darkened and it sounds better now than when I pulled it out of the box.
  22. Wow…first time I’ve opened this thread….big time props to all of you! Especially the drum pron thread posters! Lol. Impressive work…..I will keep reading and learning
