  1. Ya i know….shitty non cfp bowl game….nil player era…… so you can forget seeing stunts like this that laid it on the line
  2. Let’s see the link you’re talking about. The only color I see on the Tama website even close is phantasm oyster lacquer, None of the wrap options look in the ballpark https://www.tama.com/eu/products/drum_kits/starclassic_performer_wb_drumkit.html
  3. I think that’s “phantasm oyster”….and it’s actually a lacquer. Pretty cool looking
  4. No slight intended, just a simple vocal preference
  5. Nice hidden gem there! I loved Ben Orr’s voice….cars handed the mic off to Ocasek way too much for my liking. Cliff Davies was in Atlanta too (suicide 2008). What a machine of a drummer with nugent and st holmes
  6. This is the other angle I’m considering for 2023…..building my own customized snare with a shell from Duluth. This company supplies many of the shells we see. Looks like a really fun project to take on https://www.duluthbrassdrums.com/drums
  7. Nice! I don’t think I could actually pull the trigger on the raw finish….or the 14x8 size….but that is interesting….Ludwig has discontinued bronze….somehow Sweetwater has an exclusive for those shells. Must have been some leftovers at the Ludwig factory.
  8. Yeah, I actually meant the hammered version. And I had the model number wrong….the one I’m after is the LB552K. The one with imperial lugs. They also make a LB552KT (tube lugs)…..not quite as good looking to me as the imperials. I’ll have to check out that unfinished bronze you mention….sounds interesting.
  9. I bought the ludwig on Black Friday….and was really happy with it. So happy, I started looking for a bronze supraphonic in the 6.5” depth. Ludwig has discontinued bronze and it’s near impossible to find a used one. So, I initially planned on adding 2 Ludwigs of different depths and shell material. I came across some demo vids of the gretsch USA custom bronze, and was really intrigued. I kept an eye out and sure as shit an amazing deal popped up 10 days ago for one and I pounced haha. Damn, it’s something special in person. But, I’m still going to keep a lookout for a bronze ludwig lm402….maybe one will pop up in 2023.
  10. Bit the poisonous snare apple lol. Picked up a Ludwig hammered chrome over aluminum Supra 14x5. It’s a factory b-stock but honestly, I can’t find a blemish. Plays and sounds great. The second is a serial # Gretsch USA custom polished bronze 14x6.5….the supra is very nice but this gretsch is flat out loco ————————
  11. That would be one heck of a deal all the way around…..including the person buying the 18” for $120. A lot of cymbal for the $
  12. I definitely agree on the cymbals….get quality. Entry level on cymbals is just flat out poor. The only really inexpensive line I like is the Meinl custom classic. This is a great 14” crash for $109 to your door brand new. I’m sure they do a box set too https://memphisdrumshop.com/meinl-14-classics-custom-brilliant-medium-crash-cymbal-cc14mc-b
  13. Nice! Looks like a Ludwig kit from the 60s…..with the keystone badges lifted. They went to the blue/olive badges in the 70s
  14. Sanders is going to play…even at 50%. But the refs are always 100% and ready to go against us….I say Horns 31 pokes 28. And that is plenty good enough for me. Just win. After the past 12 years…. 6-2, top 15 team after 8 weeks sounds spectacular to me. We are trending nicely and can win this conference
  15. New hardware: Tama speed cobra hh915d high hat stand I have had a pearl double pedal for a while…but was using it as a single on the acoustic set because there was not enough room to snake the driveshaft and position the slave pedal. The old high hat stand was 3 legged, non adjustable and there was no room. Enter this 2 legged Tama. Just a really slick piece of engineering all the way around. Plays fabulous, you can easily make sounds you have no business making…it’s a cheater. The tilt feature is really badass to angle the sharp leading edge of the hats down slightly….will save sticks from getting chewed up before their time.
  16. Les Binks on drums….one of the greatest rock drummers of all time. Phenomenal paradiddle with the kicks in the last 30 seconds…I can’t think of another time I’ve heard double kicks paradiddled. R L R R L R L L
  17. Ya it does matter. Inferior ones it sounds way too choked off, no matter how you tension the basket. Same thing goes for rack tom mount systems on a drilled kick drum…cheap sets have shitty ones that tend to choke…more expensive sets have systems that allow them to sing fully. It’s the only point of contact and is very important to a drum. The drawback is cost. Manufacturers spend a fortune trying to figure out appropriate mount systems for their product offerings
  18. Bonus new hardware pic….pearl 1030d low profile gyrolock snare stand with air suspension basket….holy balls, this thing is amazing. Highly recommend. Needed the low profile for the 6.5 deep renown snare….what I did not anticipate was how badass the snares resonate in these contraptions. The ludwig stand I was using before was complete junk.
  19. Game day porn photography.
  20. That makes sense. I think at this point, the moondream curtains are the biggest bang for buck….before, I had very thin, near useless drapes over two large windows, and a third smaller window had nada. So this is a significant change at the window point of entry/exit. They look very attractive as well. I’ve been blasting on the drums for 4 days now….no complaints. The room does sound better. Whatever the combination is, it has worked just enough to keep the peace. I have no idea how much it helped the puzzle….But damn, that zildjian drum rug is incredibly nice. When I get a chance, I’ll snap a pic or two of the set and room. That renown paint job looks dazzling against the jet black rug.
  21. Yup….will do. I’m checking those out today! This has been one heck of a learning experience….crash course in room acoustics. Thanks again for the help.
  22. Well…no more cops. I never measured decibels….I went with a 10lb vinyl backed, weighted zildjian deluxe drum rug in jet black….the walls got audimute 8x4 sound absorption blankets…and the windows are now covered with moondream 3n1 sound curtains. Huge difference is an understatement. Echoes basically gone (this room is 14x14 with 13’ ceiling all sheetrock…a fuckn echo chamber). Right when I got everything installed, I turned on my 2 PAs, subwoofer and mixer….I had it previously EQ’d perfectly to my ear…damn, it sounded completely different. Like all bass biased. Messed with the EQ to get the mid n highs back. So, I sat there thinking “welp….there’s the proof” 300-20,000 hz is highly affected by the treatment…..sub 300hz not so much. Overall, pretty pleased with the results as my expectations were realistic. I spent a pretty penny or two…but everything I’ve done can come with me if I end up moving.
