  1. Crying does no good.…we had plenty of chances to take turner and young out (I would have loved to see collins pile drive young full force). This Texas team is young…building culture….they will learn. Protect your QB1 at all costs…and if he does get cheapshotted….no crying, just get the fuck back to even.
  2. Ok, thanks for the ideas and replies….I actually really like the idea of getting a sound level measurement device, and see where it’s measuring right now before I do anything. If I’m within legal limits….well, that changes my thought process quite a bit. Also, I’d like to measure a baseline before any treatment is applied. I would like to improve acoustics in this room at a bare minimum…if there’s any decibel decrease then that’s great too Maybe someone was having a bad day. It happens. Lol
  3. It’s a single story, free standing home I own. It has 2 large windows in the drum room and a smaller window off an archway leading to a jack n jill bathroom I actually looked into acrylic window inserts a few months ago…but holy shit; talk about sticker shock when I got a quote. I was like yeah……No I’m going to try bass traps, heavy duty curtains and some acoustic paneling first….We’ll see. I’ve read the ultimate is “room in a room” construction as Jim mentioned….but not sure this is my “forever” home…so doubtful I’d invest that much.
  4. Fuck….someone called the cops yesterday evening. I’ve been playing for 2 years here…never a complaint. I think it’s this 16” floor, it’s mother of god, god of thunder. And it’s addictive to strike lol I’ve been meaning to look into some additional deadening for this room….but it seems most solutions do little to stop lower frequencies
  5. LOL. I am pretty old. I primarily play 70s/80s rock.
  6. They’re coming. I had somewhat of a nightmare last week getting the final package (16” floor)….twice fedex damaged the tom. Wow, what a horrible sight seeing an $800 floor ruined by inadequate packaging (gretsch) and fedex bouncing it like a basketball. Third try overnighted Thursday arrived perfect…..but then I had to go ou5 of town. I did mess around with the iphone and these are difficult to photograph indoors. Low, soft lighting they’re more red, less sparkle. They come to life in daylight or 4K full lighting. I’m going to break out the cannon try my best. The finish is a hue changer for sure, they will look different depending on conditions. Impressions of drums…..insane sounding. The toms come with very thin n lively remo Emperors…I wouldn’t dream of dampening these with moongel or gasp….tone killers like Evans hydraulic heads. That would be criminal. Best sounding drum I have ever heard in person. The wow factor in person with the ear is off the charts. Best new drum bang for buck in world? It would be hard to argue. Virgin kick/cymbal stand rack tom mounts: boy, was I wrong here. I LOVE it. Infinite adjustability. Need a smidge one way or another? Just pick up the cymbal stand. Ball joint hasn’t moved a smidge….but yet they’re very springy in the mounts and resonate beautifully. 22x14 kick: Amazing punch and tone. The only issue I had was some slight dribble on a strike….threw in an Evans EQ kick pad cured that right away. Minimal dampening as it’s very thin. No boominess out of this kick like the 22x18 ludwig I had (which I threw the largest pillow I had in to control). This gretsch destroys it in every way. The only negative I could possibly dream up about this kit is the toms are HEAVY. I’d guess 30% more weight size for size versus the ludwig poplars I had. Maybe a concern for a gigging drummer lugging these around town.
  7. Some have arrived. My initial thoughts are: Fuckn A Just some teasers…..I’ll get more pics later on when it’s all here….show you the full setup and all the cymbals I’m surrounding this kit with photography.
  8. If you do opt for an electronic set, I’d suggest the roland td1mk entry level kit, you both should be able to play it comfortably. It’s about $650. I have one of those kits and I also have the roland vdrum DT1 software loaded on a laptop. The laptop connects to the Roland’s module, and it’s quite good practice with immediate feedback and scoring. You can either use an arcade type design (like guitar hero) OR real notation sheet music. I use the sheet music screen. There are endless rudiments,,exercises and practice songs, all with scoring. The other cool thing is you can search the web for free MIDI drum files, save them to your laptop….and play them with scoring. You want acdc highway to hell? No prob it’s out there. I have hundreds of songs saved….all free.
  9. Oooof….5 separate tracking numbers. Lol. The 4 smaller weight boxes estimated Saturday! Yeah! The big dog 84lb box estimated Monday…Boo Oh well, I’m almost positive the snare and 10” tom have to be part of the Saturday deliveries, so hopefully I can post up some high res pics of the finish that evening.
  10. Ya I meant “classic bonham” 1 up 2 down config. And “thinner” kick. I think that’s the marketing angle gretsch and sweetwater are banking on with this 4 piece shell pack burnt orange….the optional pieces are for suckers like me lol. I’m not a gigging drummer and never will be, strictly a hobby. I love it, great exercise for an older fart
  11. Oh absolutely, I’m very interested as well. I have my current ludwig 22x18 at 46hz on the tunebot and it’s a nice punch. We’ll see what this 22x14 likes. I use the tunebot mainly as a starting point, and it’s nice checking individual lugs….but the ear has to make the final call
  12. I’m not sure how rare that is these days, I think some people might want tighter frequency intervals and more options as they move across rack to floor. But you are correct, the classic setup is 1 up 2 down. However, my main reason to go ahead and get all the pieces available is these special color offerings from Gretsch are usually gone forever after a 2-3 year run. I believe burnt orange is heading toward year 3 now, so I’m biting the bullet. Also, Sweetwater made me an incredible package deal…..do not buy online, always call. I saved $400 making a call as opposed to “add to cart!”
  13. Man, I got sick of waiting on the cherry burst renowns….so I did what I thought I wouldnt do….I called up Sweetwater and ordered the Burnt Orange Sparkle lacquer Renown’s with the virgin kick. And then some. I also added the matching 10” rack and 14” snare. So, 22x14 kick (love that 4” narrower kick versus the 22x18 typical size), 7x10 and 8x12 racks, 14x14 and 16x16 floors (love those squared off floor sizes), and 14x6.5 snare Arrives Monday…..burnt orange sparkle right in time for football season
  14. Thanks! They do have a lot of finishes (including burnt orange sparkle exclusive at Sweetwater….but that’s only available 1 up 2 down virgin kick). I really wanted the kick drilled with tom rack….and that glossy cherry burst is absolutely stunning in person IMO burnt orange sparkle here’s the 2 tone retro (renown ‘57) you’re probably referring to
  15. I’ve had a set of poplar ludwigs for the past year…but I ordered a set of these gretsch renown’s north american maple in high gloss cherry burst. They’re back ordered but should ship in a few weeks. Agonizing wait… I ordered a 22/10/12/16 4 pc…I already have a Yamaha tour custom maple snare to go with it
  16. No backing mics….no problem
  17. Don Brewer? Ya that’s right…4th of July mofos
  18. The Who has inspired countless musicians all over the world. This South Korean gal absolutely gets it….maybe adds in a tasty double kick too
  19. Purdue might have too many covids......Indiana no one to play Buckeyes/Indiana rematch possible
  20. Meh...that's big pussy energy......this is the BDE thread
