  1. LOL as I type Strider has 25 swinging strikes out of 83 pitches. 30%.
  2. Wow Strider 13 Ks through 6 innings. Is that good?
  3. Just watching game tracker, but they are both dealing so far.
  4. As best I can tell, here's the date/time for US games: Group stage: Friday 7/21, 8pm vs Vietnam Wednesday 7/26, 8pm vs Netherlands Tuesday 8/1, 2am vs Portugal If we win Group E: Round of 16: Saturday 8/5, 9pm Quarterfinals: Thursday 8/10, 8pm Semifinals: Tuesday 8/15, 3am 3rd Place: Saturday 8/19, 3am Final: Sunday 8/20, 5am If we get 2nd in Group E: Round of 16: Sunday 8/6, 4am Quarterfinals: Friday 8/11, 2:30am
  5. Speas first MLB action ever is facing Wander Franco with a 1-run lead?
  6. Is it worth seeing this in IMAX if it's not 70mm? Only IMAX in Houston is in fucking Tomball.
  7. I've been defending them, but I might be changing my mind on QS. In this day and age with arm injuries, guys get yanked at the very first sign of trouble after 5 IP. Sooooooo many 5.1 and 5.2 IP starts. Oh he's at 86 pitches and he just threw 2 balls in a row? Get him out of there! Wins suck, too. Not sure what the answer is.
  8. MLB.tv dropped to $47.99 for the rest of the year a few days ago. My VPN works great. I'm pretty seriously looking into it. One question - if I get a VPN and put it on my router and tell it I'm in Uzbekistan or whatever, is it going to mess up the rest of my streaming services? I know that Netflix for example is getting picky about where people are located because of account sharing.
  9. Yup. It's mid-July and I'm over here Googling stuff like "mlb tv + vpn" (I live in Houston).
  10. Cubs have some very interesting relievers, too. The problem is that there aren't going to be a ton of teams selling this year, so prices will be higher than normal. I have a feeling that one team is going to decide that Ohtani can go win a WS for them and pay a fortune. They may not even be wrong.
  11. Just saw this bumped and realized I forgot to update it with a post-trip report Bacoa was great. Cool setting, great food, chill vibe. Easy drive. Worth it. We weren't super impressed with Cocina Abierta. Got some legit-as-fuck pizza at Casa Pimenton. Great service, cool place. The whole area around Mercado de Santurce has a lot going on. Got a very solid breakfast sandwich at The Egg Place. My wife liked Cafe con Ce's coffee and the place looks like it's straight out of Instagram, but there's not much to it other than the coffee. Skip Barista Squared, they had a real hard time getting our order right and didn't really seem to give a fuck if they did or not. Very classy courtyard bar at the Hotel El Convento. Get yourself a chocolate Mallorca at Cortes. God damn that shit was tasty. I thought El Yunque was great. Not quite Costa Rica, sure, but very beautiful. Hike up to Torre Britton. About 45 minutes straight up but awesome views from the top of the tower. Make sure to get a reservation to get in the park, the way they do it is fucky. We did ziplining at Rainforest Zipline Park. It was fun but if you've been ziplining in CR or some place like that, you won't be that impressed. Looking at pics online, I think the other place up the hill a little ways (Junglequi) is probably better. Wandering around Old San Juan is cool. It's a little touristy in parts, but not unbearably so - just the normal shit. We didn't do any forts, even though I wanted to. Five hundred year old forts in 92-degree heat is a hard sell to my wife when we only have 3 days to spend. We stayed at the Marriott in Condado. I'm not a beach guy but the beach seemed perfectly fine to me there. A few people selling pineapples and shit but they weren't bothering anyone. We walked down to the Renaissance some as well. It seemed a little more happening and trendy than the Marriott (including their respective casinos), if that's your thing. Renaissance has a big sports book. Walking around Condado feels perfectly safe. We spent a half day at the Ritz Carlton Dorado spa. That was some truly next-level shit (with the price to match, of course). My wife is going to be talking about that for a while. You WILL get laid if you take your gww there. Overall we thought PR was great. Tons of shit to see and do, great food culture, everyone speaks good English, easy to get around (Uber is very cheap).

Doesn't a cap tie not mean as much anymore? I thought guys can do a 1-time transfer now even if they're technically cap tied?
  13. Relatively easy one today for all the Texans on this board. Got 8/9, which is my best result ever. Couldn’t think of an Astro/Nat.

    Vinyl

Found a used copy of At Fillmore East at Half Price Books yesterday. Major score. Damn it is amazing.
  15. That’s a preposterous take. Anyone running against Trump - certainly including Joe Biden - will have every penny that he or she needs.
  16. It's getting built up A LOT. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

Y'all know the pool better than I do, but looking at the roster, only GK seems like a real waste. Sean Johnson is not going to factor in 2026. Turner will, but we already know what he brings to the table. Slonina didn't play, which doesn't make sense to me. Otherwise, the only guys that will be 30 or over in 2026 are Long, Yedlin, Gressel, Morris, Roldan, and Miazga. Long and Miazga are CBs, who seem like they stick around a little longer into their 30s. So out of 20 outfield players, you really just have 4 who had no business being there: Yedlin, Gressel, Morris, and Roldan. Interestingly, those 4 were all 2nd half (or extra time) subs last night. I think those guys were probably just there for veteran presence and as late subs to ice games.

It's not like Panama's squad is a murderer's row. They've got a couple MLSers and one guy in Liga MX, but after that it's a bunch of dudes playing in the Venezuelan and Peruvian league and shit like that. Feels like our C team should be able to handle that. (Full disclosure, I didn't watch the game tonight)
  19. Today I learned that neither A-Rod nor Ken Griffey Jr won RoY.
