  1. Pretty obvious that the serious candidates noped the fuck out after talking with Jerry and Stephen so they were just like fuck it, this guy is fine.
  2. I had the same thought. He's not an exceptionally large dude.
  3. I have zero expectations for this coaching hire. Less than zero, in fact. My interest in the Cowboys is at an all time low point in my entire life thus far. Yet somehow, against all odds, Jerry has achieved the impossible and still managed to underwhelm me with this Schottenheimer business. It simply can't possibly be real. My brain cannot comprehend it. The only thing that makes any goddamn sense whatsoever is that it's a smokescreen for hiring Kellen Moore.
  4. Just took a quick glance, but it looks like the highest paid NFL WRs top out at about 11-12% of the total salary cap. So 16.7% of what is certainly a top 2 or 3 NIL budget in the entire sport is too much. Gotta be just a negotiating figure from Smith's camp.
  5. I think we as a group were speculating on this - possibly in this thread, can't remember - a few weeks ago. The model going forward for the big programs may be everyone getting on the same page at the same time for a big run, then dialing it back afterwards to regroup. It'll be really hard to sustain $20-$30mm rosters year in and year out unless you have an Uncle Phil who has fuck you money and just doesn't care. And even then, Uncle Phil isn't immortal. What will be interesting is how this it plays out with coaches. Will programs be patient with a previously successful head coach if some lean years are coming up? Or conversely, will successful coaches stick around if the resources are going to dry up for a while or will they try to job hop in that situation?
  6. I fucking love Wikipedia. I honestly believe that it's an example of humanity at its best. It's a throwback to a long-gone era of the internet that had so much promise. Maybe one of the last throwbacks. I've been terrified for a while now of the day that it became a political target. In my heart I always knew it was just a matter of time, because literally everything must be politicized now. I know that people have tried before, but those people generally weren't the richest person on Earth, with a direct line to the president of the United States. I fear that this is the beginning of the end for Wikipedia. Can't say how sad that makes me.
  7. White folks have made it all the way through the alphabet with _aden names. Next up, αaden.
  8. What this thread has been missing is two pages of pointless Monday morning quarterbacking about a guy that we liked but didn't love having a couple good games.
  9. Yeah, my kid has dabbled in the periphery of the junior gymnastics scene here in Houston and I was surprised at how serious and organized it all is. But there's nowhere for the kids to go. They all want to go to OU.
  10. Guarantee her casserole game is on point
  11. New posthumous Mac Miller out today.
  12. What a weird career arc it would be for Niblack if he stayed at Texas and contributed this year.
  13. You're assuming that we wouldn't trade the entirety of the next two drafts to move up to #1 and take Shedeur.
  14. I've been thinking about this a lot. I think we all kind of assumed that the plan after the epic 2022 haul was to stack up high upside 3-star types and let them bake in the oven. 2025 will be the year that we find out if that strategy holds up. The recruiting this last year was weird. They seemed kinda lukewarm on Fasusi for most of the cycle then decided very late that they absolutely had to have him. Never seemed to really press for guys like Lamont Rogers. I kinda hate the assumption that Turntine is the guy. Someone could always come over the top of us and decide that he's the guy that they absolutely must have.
  15. Everyone aligned to go all in and the QB they chose was Will Howard? I get that it may actually work out for them, but that's certainly a move. So much this. tOSU has never had a down period in my entire life (and I'm a man). I would love so much for them to spend a little time wandering the wilderness like everyone else has to from time to time.
  16. Over/under pick #75. Call your shot surly.
  17. Supposedly they're still working on deals with cable/satellite providers.
  18. MLB.tv single team is $120/year I think, so it'll be something in that ballpark. Hopefully not blacked out in Houston.

  20. So taking a step back and looking at our big picture needs... Offense: QB - All set RB - Opinions vary. Depends a lot on how Baxter bounces back and whether Gibson can get back in the trust tree. I lean toward saying we need 1. TE - Is Niblack coming back? He didn't do much this year but at least he's a body. Could use 1 but hard to see devoting a lot of resources here. WR - Chatter picking up steam that we like what we have. Maybe the price tag for true difference makers is too beaucoup? Need 1-2. OL - Tackle looks set if Goosby and Baker stick around. Seems like they'd add experience on the interior if they could. Defense: DE - Looks good with Moore coming back and Simmons staying. DT - Added two guys that should contribute. One more perhaps? LB - Added one already. Seems like we're OK for now. CB - Need one if Muhammad leaves. S - Probably OK with Taaffe back unless multiple young guys bail. To me, it feels like we still have quite a bit of shopping to do if we fancy ourselves a contender next year.
  21. I mean, he came about as close to single-handedly ending our season as it's possible for an OL to do. Overall good player for us, but I could see how someone might still be a bit salty about that less than 4 days after it happened.
  22. We're out on Sasaki, per Evan Grant. Appears it will be the Padres or Dodgers.
  23. makes me think of this classic
