  1. He's the perfect coach for the Halloween season because you can imagine exactly what his skull looks like.
  2. Not to worry, the Ike Dike will be funded and built in just a few short centuries.
  3. @MrRogue do you have something for sleep only, no psychoactive effects?
  4. That is correct. He's pretty prominently featured in the museum. Texas Monthly did a long article about him and his collection and decision to donate it to the Alamo a while back. Apparently a couple people ingratiated themselves to him over the years and started selling him all sort of stuff that had pretty questionable provenance. "This is THE original Bowie knife because it was made in Arkansas and Jim Bowie visited that town in Arkansas once", that kind of stuff. So I was taking some of the placards with a grain of salt, but still good for Phil for being interested in that stuff, and donating it for the public to see, and it's all presented in a really nice way.
  5. CSB alert: Had dinner at a nice restaurant in San Antonio on Saturday night. I spied a bottle of Ocho Reposado behind the bar, so I ordered "Tequila Ocho Reposado, neat" from the waitress. Whatever she brought me did not smell or taste anything like tequila. My wife - who really hates tequila and recoils at the smell every time - agreed with me. So I call the waitress over and we have this conversation: Me: "I don't think this is tequila. Could it be the wrong glass?" Waitress: "No, it's Herradura Reposado. Do you want me to switch it for Casamigos? Those are the only two we have." Me: "It doesn't taste like tequila at all. I can see Tequila Ocho from here. The orange bottle." So she brought me a new glass and of course it tasted like tequila. I guess she either didn't understand that Ocho is a specific brand or didn't hear that part and just brought me whatever. The moral of the story is that either she grabbed the wrong glass off the bar and brought me someone else's...bourbon maybe? Or that whatever Herradura is trying to pass off as reposado doesn't even taste the slightest bit like tequila should.
  6. Thoughts from an out-of-town visitor after a long weekend in SA: Dough was fucking delicious. Very nice place. We only had guac/apps/kids meals at Boudro's. It was fine. Nothing special but it works if you're on the Riverwalk. La Panaderia for breakfast is great. There was a line on Saturday and Sunday but it seemed to move OK. It's a little gringo-fied but I can't deny that the pastries were top notch. We had some killer breakfast tacos from Garcia's on Fredericksburg Rd. Acenar was disappointing IMO. Food, service, and atmosphere all subpar. I know there's been some controversy and political wrangling over it, but the Alamo is in much better shape than the last time I visited several years ago. The building they built to house the artifact collection and the gate outside were both new to me. Hopefully whatever they're doing to the plaza will be cool. It's a total mess right now. Downtown SA (Riverwalk, Alamo, etc) is a gem. Sure there's a touristy element, but if you can't enjoy a nighttime cruise or sitting out having a drink while the world walks by, there's something very wrong with you.
  7. Northern Florida, famous for good vibes. Dunno what a Busch Latte is, but Do. Not. Want. Every single Boomer on Facebook: "love it! 🤣🤣 so bless! take care, love Aunt Pat"
  8. Wasn’t this guy a total malcontent while here? Hopefully he’s grown up some. Great representative of a period of garbage culture that is thankfully behind us.
  9. That seems incredibly dangerous to me
  10. They mostly come at night. Mostly.
  11. For comparison, NHC says 911 mb for Milton as of 1:00 pm CDT Monday.
  12. I’m still laughing. It’s the last play of the game, bro
  13. We hear a lot that “winning cures everything”. But does culture beget winning, or vice versa? Eventually you enter a virtuous cycle but seems to me that there has to be a big leap forward in one or the other at some point.
  14. Essentials for a family with young kids making their first trip (the kids, not the parents) to San Antonio? We're gonna do all the usual touristy shit - Alamo, River Walk, boat ride, Fiesta Texas etc. Staying on the River Walk for the full effect. What's the best eats on the river?
  15. Based on all the smoke recently, seems like they prefer McCutcheon to Johnson. And aggy seems to have locked down Sims. Therefore I'm going to go ahead and add Brew and/or Sanchez to the calculator.
  16. I agree. I've always liked Rogers' tape. He's got kind of an atypical body shape - he's massive in his upper body with long arms but smaller in the lower half. He's got the skinniest ankles I think I've ever seen from a man his size. But he's strong and he's mean and he certainly moves well enough to stay at tackle. Shame there's no Dallas Wilson on this graphic. A guy can dream.
  17. *nervous laugh in Houston* My question is why, if every semiconductor in the world requires raw material from this one mine in NC, doesn’t that come up in literally every single bilateral negotiation we have with China? NHC remains unimpressed by that guy as of this morning. They seem to think a rain storm at most.
  18. I wonder what this means long term for Sling, which has been my choice for football season for the last few years. Doesn’t seem like they’d keep two different streaming services under two brands.
  19. DaQuives Beck looks like he just caught the photographer talking to his girl.
  20. Rice is out for the season with an ACL. X is the Chiefs' #1 now.
