  1. Be patient with the new coaching staff. Actually allow them to recruit a class (a big change from past coaching changes with new early signing day). Watch staff to see if changes and course corrections can be made in the off season. Watch for recurring problems on offensive side of the ball which is the head coaches area of expertise which was a red flag with Herman and Strong. Support the players who play hard. If poor development is a big part of our problem, then impatience is not going to be rewarded. Be prepared to enforce accountability for the staff when they have upper classmen of their own that showcase the coaching and development that has or has not occurred. Most coaching changes end in failure so the odds are never great with a new staff. We made a bet in Sark and this staff and I think it is foolish to read too much into the early bad outcomes. His tenure should be determined by an ability to fix problems not get everything right from day 1 in my very humble opinion. Hook'em.

I don't know if he is THE GUY for head coach. I don't think we have enough data to know. He has had one off season, one staff and literally one recruit of his own in Worthy. I know the early outcomes suck but making decisions based on limited outcomes is risky. I do see positive things on offense which is his side of the ball. I think the defense was not constructed right and he needs to own that. But I would be more concerned if I saw more problems on his side of the ball like we all did with Herman on offense. I think we should be uncertain whether he is or isn't the guy at this time.

Agree with this statement. I suspect a big part of our problem is the turnover in staffs resulting in player turnover and lost development time.
  4. Basically, we are going to need to build the Mother of All Portals to handle this off season. Get 'er Done!
  5. It's not just the dollar amount. By guaranteeing it with no buyout they are sending positive signals and showing their commitment to staying the course even if something goes wrong.
  6. I think part of the reason the Aggies gave Jimbo the big guaranteed long term contract was that it helps with recruiting. It signals stability to recruits and assistant coaches. It also lets the coaches think long term and not panic if there are hiccups. Assistant coaches don't have to think they are moving their families again if we have a losing streak. It can let everyone focus on coaching and fixing problems not panicking about their personal situation. I also value accountability. Coaches need to be accountable too. I think there needs to be a good balance between stability and accountability for a program to have the best chance of success. I do wonder if part of our problem is that as a program, and as a fanbase, is that we are very strong on accountability for errors and screwups but not great at signaling stability and consistency. At your work, do you do your best work if everybody around you has a massive freakout if something bad happens? Probably not. Do you want to go work somewhere like that? Do you want your son to play for a place like that? I'm not saying we are wrong to want accountability but it seems to me that our whole atmosphere is about that and we do almost nothing to signal stability and consistency. When you don't actively promote stability and consistency then maybe you don't get stability and consistency.
  7. Nice playcall to get in hands of 2nd best playmaker with some misdirection
  8. running game getting some traction, hope that continues
  9. Agree that helps but I think our problem in winning conference championships goes beyond that.
  10. We need to stop putting our hopes on super quick fixes. That might happen but it's not a strategy. Build a program to dominate both lines of scrimmage. Play exciting offense to attract recruits. Profit ?
  11. They aren't rolling like Bama or OSU but it has been an emphasis. Their DL is light years beyond ours.
  12. The difference is not at QB. The difference is that Jimbo is 4 years in to building a team from the OL and DLs out. That helps them to overcome their other deficiencies I think and shows us what we have to do to sustain success and how long it might take.
  13. Not hope just fortitude to be here, support my Horns and take whatever the hell comes for wrath and ruin
  14. I liked what I heard about hard coaching this week. And I like that the young man took it. We've been very close the last three weeks. I'm here to support the Horns and take what comes. Hook'em High Like An Eagle Soars!!!
  15. I think it's easy to see positive playcalling and scheming on offense. The execution isn't there yet but development and recruiting probably need to happen first. The defense is a mess and the Dave Aranda narrative of a Year 1 change is a reasonable comparison. PK might be a great coach and just a bad fit. I don't know. I expect to see defensive staff changes after the season.
  16. Isn't it sort of a politician's job to read the room he is in and tailor his message accordingly? Don't these guys have to be graded on some kind of terrible curve? How many politicians are honest, transparent, and effective? Pretty much all say different things at different times. Plenty of Dems were for the filibuster in the past and against it now. Plenty of Republicans cared about the budget under a Dem president and in the minority and not so much when they had the majority. I read him as sort of a traditional Republican that is forced to respect Trump's influence over the Republican base and the primaries.
  17. Yep PK looking like a bad hire. That can be addressed without nuking the whole staff in the first year of a new head coach. Barring a huge turnaround on defense, I think Sark needs to change the DC. Don't wait to fix a mistake.
  18. Yeah those are stable programs who are clearly recruiting at a very high level. We are not stable. Thus we are not well positioned to overcome it like we should.
  19. Bill Connelly has us really low on returning production. Lowest in the conference.
  20. A large amount of those guys aren't here. Bru McCoy anyone???
