Again, theyāve been conditioned since childhood to believe that politics is a team sport and everything can be boiled down to glorious, righteous and virtuous āusā vs. those conniving, rotten evil bastard āthems.ā I have no doubt that the reaction would be totally different if this exact story didnāt involve Brett Kavanaugh and instead involved Sonia Sotomayor. Anyways, this isnāt legitimate political discourse. This is hyper-partisan showboating by a handful of poster children for the Dunning Kruger Effect.

Bleach Blonde Bad Built Butch Body in Congress? Oh you mean Marjorie!

I donāt know why he was booted, to be perfectly honest. He checks every box their speakers need -Weird personal life -Never said anything worth a shit in his professional life -Never did anything worth a shit in his professional life -Entire impression of his āpurposeā is to string together a bunch of words in arrangements that have no objective other than to āpiss off the libs.ā Who among CPAC speakers does NOT fit that description? -
Dear Texas, we need to have a conversation about Louie Gohmert

Exactly what I was thinking. Heās like that kid in the old thanksgiving joke: Kidās walking around the house on Thanksgiving. Mom and dad are fighting. Mom calls dad a ābastard,ā dad calls mom a ābitch.ā Kid asks his mom āwhatās a bastard?ā She says āitās just another word for man.ā Kid asks his dad āwhatās a bitch? He says āitās just another word for woman.ā Kid later hears his mom scream āFUCK!ā He runs in and sees sheās cut herself carving the turkey. āMom, what does āfuckā mean?ā She says āoh it just means Iām cutting the turkey.ā He later hears his dad scream āSHIT!ā Runs in and sees his dad has cut himself shaving. āDad, what does shit mean?ā He says āoh itās another way to say shaving cream.ā Shortly after that response, the door bell rings. Itās the kidās aunt and uncle and some of the cousins. Kid answers the door: āHello, bitches and bastards! My mom is in the kitchen fucking the turkey and my dad is in the bathroom putting shit all over his face!ā

Personally I think Gnosticism in either direction is absolute insanity. How the hell can anyone say they āknowā that there either is or isnāt a deity? That kind of assertion is a positive statement, and those require positive evidence. And this particular kind of statement would be extraordinary so it would therefore require extraordinary evidence. Math is pretty much the only field of study we have that produces the kind of absolute certainty that believers talk about. Science is different than math on that front. Science is basically a game of King of the Hill. The very best explanations of certain phenomenon, which have to pass through a rigorous process, occupy the top of that hill until a better explanation knocks it off. Once itās knocked off, it very likely will never return, which is why we havenāt heard much about vitalism or phlogiston lately. In terms of going from ābeliefā to āknowledge,ā yeah itās bullshit. You donāt acquire knowledge simply by ābelieving hard enoughā as some theists contend. Knowledge has to do with facts, and facts are defined as points of data that are exclusively indicative of or concordant with one particular explanation above all others. That has shit to do with confidence.

He probably has it hidden in Benghazi by all the employees of the pizzeria where Crooked Hillary is running her pedophile ring. They also have it guarded by chemtrails, vaccines, the US Postal Service and Wayne Newton. -

He most certainly is an atheist, and itās by the very description you give in the first sentence. The problem is that religious people have succeeded for decades, if not centuries, in launching perhaps the most successful propaganda campaign in the history of human discourse: Lying to Atheists About What Atheism Is. Hereās the thing: A/Theism pertains only to belief A/Gnosticism pertains only to knowledge Itās not this sliding scale from one to another based on ādegree of certainty.ā Thatās just made up bullshit. The problem with the āgod question,ā is that itās not really a question; itās two questions. The first is ādo you think itās even possible to know?ā and the second is ādo you believe?ā Iām gonna summarize the combinations of each answer according to the label that accurately describes the person: Agnostic Atheism: I do not know if there is a god, but I do not believe there is. Gnostic Atheism: I know there is no god, so I do not believe there is. Agnostic Theism: I do not know if there is a god, but I do believe there is. Gnostic Theism: I know there is a god, so I believe there is. Believers like to separate agnosticism from atheism on dubious grounds because it creates division, which is the whole point of this creation of confusion. When Neil DeGrasse Tyson says āIām agnostic but not an atheist,ā heās revealing his own confusion. Heās been conditioned since childhood, as many have (including myself) to execrate āatheism,ā and adopt the āagnosticā label for several reasons, mostly because it seeks to undermine their position. Thatās part of the game: pretend the two concepts are mutually exclusive and push towards the āless threateningā label. But if you ask Tyson ādo you personally believe there is a god,ā and he says āno, I personally do not believe there is a god,ā thatās literally an identification as an atheist. And you should know full well thatās how heād answer that question. Back in 2006, during a panel discussion with Krauss and Schermer, Tyson remarked: āI want to put on the table, not why 85% of the members of the National Academy of Sciences reject God, I want to know why 15% of the National Academy donāt. Thatās really what weāve got to address here. Otherwise the public is secondary to this.ā Like I say, heās certainly not the only one. I myself was a victim of this scam. I started identifying as āagnostic-but-not-atheistā in 2004, and itās been only within the last 4 or so years that Iāve been identifying as atheistā¦and the thing is, I never actually changed my position on the topic. In 2004, I did not believe there was a god. That meant I was atheist, but I just didnāt realize it. The fact that I didnāt embrace the label was irrelevant. What Iāve always believed and said about it is exactly what Christopher Hitchens said and what AronRa has said about it: Hitchens āIt may not be said that we absolutely know to a certainty that there is no god, but it may be said we have no reason to believe that there is one.ā AronRa: āA belief is a conviction. A lack of belief is a lack of conviction. So if youāre not convinced that an actual deity really exists, youāre atheist.ā

NAMI Texas is an organization of individuals and families whose lives have been affected by mental illness. When tragedies occur, we as a community must seek to understand and address the root causes of these tragedies and we must not rush to judgement. Often, we can see a rush to explain mass shootings by identifying mental illness as the primary or sole causative factor. In reflecting back, it is essential for us to understand the nature of mental illness. The evidence is clear: the overwhelming majority of people with mental illness are not violent. In fact, people with mental illness are more likely to be the victims of violence than the perpetrators of it. Less than 10 percent of shootings nationwide involve people with mental illness. By overstating the risk between gun violence and mental illness, we run the risk of creating further barriers to treatment ā people with mental illness may become increasingly reluctant to seek services, as they will fear that society will then draw certain conclusions about them. This is a chance that we simply cannot afford to take. We must take a systemic look at the root causes and exacerbating factors of mass shootings in the United States and address these issues head on."

I mean when you have a position thatās both untenable and indefensible, and you (at least to some extent) are aware that itās untenable and indefensible, the fuck are you gonna do? Agree to a fucking debate? Hell no, and youāre especially not gonna do it in an emotionally charged climate where people are even more against you than they already wereā¦oh and donāt forget all those fence sitters that stopped sitting and went to the other side. The āletās not politicize this thing right nowā crowd is the heel wrestler getting down on his knees with his hands together pleading the babyface doesnāt pound him any further. Itās pathetic.
