Thatās precisely because they are not interested in governing. Theyāre not interested in creating a robust economy. Theyāre only interested in doing favors for their donors. In the late 1970ās, the idea of Trickle Down was seen sort of as a taboo. Thatās why GHWB called it āvoodoo.ā The thing is, he was right to call it that. The entire premise of it was built on that stupid Laffer curve, which postulates āwhen tax rates are low, revenues will be low because the government doesnāt generate enough money. When tax rates are high, revenues will be low because people are less motivated to work or invest.ā Totally ignoring the complete arbitrary nature of what it is for tax rates to be āhighā or ālow,ā or how high they have to be to disincentivized to work/invest, or how tax rates are rarely if ever applied uniformly, does anyone not notice that the GOP always admits that this stuff is bullshit? Oh sure they donāt say itās bullshit literally, but they say it in their actions. They say it when they pass tax cuts to the wealthiest people and then sweeping budget cuts. Well yeah, because theyāre not really interested in finding this so-called āsweet spotā on the curve because what that does is lower required revenues while also lowering taxes. Iām sure 3-point percentages in the NBA would increase dramatically if they make the no-charge circle the new 3-point arch and if they lower the basket to 7ā instead of 10. Thatās not gonna compel me to call those guys āgreat three point shooters,ā though. Anyways the whole nominal point of the Laffer curve was to assume expenditures as a given (relative at least) constant and finding the most effective way to raise revenues to pay for them. The curve was never meant to be a mechanism to shift the goalposts. So again, why do they shift the goalposts to make it look like trickle down works? Because they know itās bullshit. And youāre never going to see them make economic progress while they worship bullshit.

Weāre talking about the very obvious and grim reality that this lying shit-weasel of a president and his chickenshit little circle jerk of economic āadvisersā are going to lead this country straight into a recession at the very best, full-on depression at the very worst, and you just will not shut the fuck up about 3 NCAA athletes at inconsequential programs with marginal inputs on insignificant games. Thatās just fucking cowardly and goddamned shameful. You really need to stop because youāre getting the absolute fuck kicked out of you and youāre acting like youāre dunking on everyone. You havenāt dunked shit. You aināt about that life. And speaking of things you need to quit doing, stop using the word āleftist.ā You havenāt the foggiest clue of what that means, or really anything about the political spectrum for that matter.

Thatās been my takeaway as well. Yeah Incognito is probably/generally the piece of shit people have been saying he is since before this Martin stuff came out, but itās inappropriate to cast Martin as some sort of victim. And the thing is, Incognito was not the only one these accusations went against. He was merely cast as the ringleader

I mean there are tons of other outlets that are reporting it. The quality of writing hardly seems relevant.

Oh theyāve never followed politics in their lives, but itās not limited to ācommon clayā people. Itās anyone who regularly and exclusively consumes right wing media in general. That shit aināt āpolitical commentary.ā That shit is pure theatre. Itās professional wrestling done in very poor taste. Except this is poor taste professional wrestling done the old way. This is maintaining kayfabe at its absolute best. They have convinced their regular viewers that they discuss politics and political issues and issues of political importance and politics politics politics. Theyāre very effective at conveying that message.

Pussy only talked about rockets and bombs. Fucking lightweight

Exactly. Philly at one point was up 34-0. After they made the score that put the 34th point on the board, KC went for around 200 yards and 22 points. The fucking game was over when all that shit happened. Nothing else needs to be said about how badly they dominated KC, particularly when Philly was on defense. And yeah, same thing about the loss to Tampa. After the Bucs hit that FG to make it 31-9, KC rips 177 completely meaningless yards in 3 possessions. Brady did lose 3 times in the SB, but he never got fucking boatraced like that. The only time he ever got boatraced was for 2.5 quartersā¦and they wound up winning that game.
-
Thatās the whole game. DOGEās objective is āgovernment efficiencyā in as much as that country with Pyongyang as its capital is a āDemocratic Peopleās Republic.ā One would be a fool to believe it literally. Reminds me of when republicans were saying in 2003 or so that No Child Left Behind was about āmaking teachers accountable.ā Government waste is doubtlessly a problem, but itās not a problem thatās solved by/with billionaire money hoarders.

That is certainly possible and unfortunately that may be the only way certain individuals understand the difference between seeing the big picture and being, as Craig Way likes to say, a prisoner of the moment. And even then, a lot of them still wonāt get itā¦and I canāt help but think itās the same people that were trying to crown Lebron after he was fucking drafted.
-
No, he didnāt. Look, I get that thereās a certain romance for Patrick. I get that. But the thing is that even if they won last night, thatās still just 4 rings, somewhere in the 40ās on playoff TD passes, 18 playoff wins. Thatās still nowhere near Tom. If Patrick wants to catch Brady, heās got a lot of work to do and his little fanboys arenāt doing him any favors with this āletās just skip to the end and crown him alreadyā bullshit. 4 rings in 6 years doesnāt make anyone the GOAT. It makes themā¦Terry Bradshaw.

Dallas Cowboys 2024 Season Thread -- Jerrah the Asshat Rides Again
hpslugga replied to Patrick Bateman's topic in Football
Correct answer. Itās not about Jerry; itās about the Jones family in general. They are to football what the McMahon family is to pro wrestling. All about the sizzle, none about the steak. -
Youāre talking about the legal concept of an opinion, which is different than the laymanās concept of an opinion, which is, to repeat, a belief that cannot be proven true or false. And that distinction needs to be made because people of the general MAGA ilk hide behind that. You see this whenever they say āitās a matter of opinion! You canāt attack me for having an opinion!ā Thereās a kernel of truth to that. I canāt tell you that youāre wrong for saying blue is the best color or steak is better than shrimp. I canāt justifiably attack you for saying that. Itās a matter of belief that cannot be proven true or false. The trump issue, on the other hand, does not fall into that category. The maga crowd claims that it is, and they do so to specifically to hide behind it so as to not face up to the reality that they, with the burden totally on them to demonstrate why trump is a good president, cannot for the life of them live up to that burden. So they shift that burden by saying itās a āmatter of opinion.ā Itās a total bullshit cop out. Or to put it another way, think of all of the MAGA morons you know or know of and consider this: hardly any of them (if any) has the balls to debate these issues against anyone even of a mediocre intellect (forget elite) in public. That tells you everything you need to know. When I do politics, I have only one standard: can I or canāt I defend what Iām saying in public? If I canāt defend what Iām saying in public, then what the fuck am I even doing? And when honest people get to that precise point, itās the point where they make the decision to rebuke their previously held position. When dishonest people get to the point where they realize they canāt defend their position in public, they go into fucking hiding and at best engage in circle jerks. Again, see Texan, Daily. Thatās exactly what that fuckin place is. Itās a place where people who routinely got their asses handed to them as far back as the first Trump term and do not have the honesty/balls to admit they were dead fucking wrong, but they do have the honesty to admit they cannot defend their positions in public. So they fuck off to DT (or wherever it is they go) and project when they accuse CR of being an āecho chamber.ā In other words, they believe what they believe because they want to believe it, and any contradiction to those beliefs are a big huge conspiracy against them.
-
Opinions are beliefs, and theyāre a particular kind of belief. They are beliefs that have never and can never be proven true or false. āBlue is the best color.ā Thatās an opinion, and whoever holds it will never be proven wrong or right about it. āSteak is better than shrimp.ā Thatās an opinion āDonald Trump is a good president.ā Thatās provably false nonsense. To be a good president means you actually succeed in living up to measurable criteria vis a vis policy implementation. So did he ever do anything to help improve economic conditions for the middle and lower classes? Well he tried an opening wave of tariffs which were well on their way to leading the country to a recession before the pandemic bailed him out, he cut taxes for very wealthy people only, and heās also seeking to disrupt supply chains and just general productivity with this mass deportation insanity. No, he objectively is horrendous for the economyā¦and that was just his first term (except the mass deportation stuff). Heās threatening to expand tariffs and cut taxes even further for billionaires as if those powdered sissies donāt have enough going for them as it is already. Did he ever do anything to improve situations around the globe? He withdrew the US from the Iran deal, he withdrew the US from the Paris agreement, he seeks to turn Gaza into another one of his chickenshit little resorts, he turns a blind eye to Putinās war crimes, heās threatening to use the US military to outright capture certain areas (other than Gaza of course). Shall I fucking continue? Domestically, he nominated 3 extremist Supreme Court justices that cared only about stripping away reproductive rights and essentially nothing else, he is threatening to terminate the department of education, his minions in congress are trying to set up a situation where fucking OSHA disappears. He just signed an executive order that bars transgender females from competing in womenās sports. Of the some 500,000 athletes in the NCAA, that order affectsā¦fewer than 10 people. Thereās a word for shit like that in legal parlance and the lawyers here will be familiar with it: dilatory. And oh boy, does Trump ever live and love to be dilatory in every fucking thing he does. By the way, none of the things I just said had anything to do with all the criminal activity for which he was investigated/indicted/convicted. None of what I said mentioned anything about January 6th. None of what I said mentioned anything about absconding with classified documents and stuffing them in a fucking bathroom. None of what I said mentioned anything about interfering in the 2016 election via hush money payments that were concealed in business records. None of what I said has anything to do with the fact that he conspired with people so that they could pose as electors for the purposes of subverting the 2020 election by overturning the popular will of 7 different states. None of what I said previously even mentioned any of that shit, and he did all of that as POTUS or as a candidate of same. If one still believes that the individual described above is a āgood president,ā one is a kool aid drinking cult member. They are fucking wrong as it is possible to be, and thereās not a goddamned thing they can do about it. All these emotional protestations, even when combined into one, have all the intellectual force of a flea trying to push a one-ton boulder up a hill. Itās fucking hilarious to watch them try, though. They actually think theyāre doing well.

Thatās because you donāt give us a reason to. If you donāt give anyone a reason to believe you, they have no reason to believe you, and not having a reason to believe you is literally the best reason not to believe you. But yeah, see yourself out if you must. Venture over to the Daily Texan and the bastion of intellectual diversity that it is. Contrary to popular rumors, it is not the fucking cesspool of utter bullshit people say it is. And certainly no hive mind going on there. In the meantime Iād like to announce to the group that our next secret meeting is at my man cave.

The last trade war with China resulted in⦠This was fully 20 months after the first wave of tariffs, which did end up including Canada and Mexico as well. The difference, however, is that the tariffs started small on the Chinese in terms of what materials/industries they were applied to, added to the fact that Mexico and Canada werenāt initially included. Here, Trump is talking about blanket tariffs on all 3 nations immediately. The next time the yield curve inverts as a result of this (and it will), it will not take as long, the recession will follow quicker than expected (pay attention to the 3:20 mark in the video), and there most likely wonāt be another pandemic to give him political cover for the fallout. Fortunately, we will have all the ābut the price of baconā people to ease our minds by telling us it made sense to put this intellectual peasant in the last place any serious person wanted to see him.

This needs to be repeated every time somebody says āthereās no way Trump could pull off X.ā

Which is precisely why Ogles drafted it in such a way that would preclude Obama from running: they all know that he would fucking steamroll Trump
