  1. Just gotta say, I fucking love Galveston. If I didn’t live in Houston I’m not sure I’d ever really make the trip, but it’s so nice having a beach town ~45 minutes away. Came down for a quick and easy baby moon/birthdays/holiday weekend and it’s exceeded all expectations. We normally just come for a day trip at one of the pocket parks, but got a condo on the sea wall for the weekend this time. A little further East froM the huge crowds, which helps. Didn’t even beach today but hit the naval museum, pleasure pier, and Gaidos and got my full on touristy day out of the way. If the beach (and it’s users) were s little prettier it would be the best gulf beach town IMO.
  2. One of my most embarrassing childhood moments was when my dad walked in on me strokin the crusty nun.
  3. Just by having some “well to do”/heavily involved in the community type friends in Longview that know that family, I think this tracks pretty well.
  4. Any of y’all do that foil boat deal in a Kamado grill? Any noticeable difference from a butcher paper wrap?

You know now that I think about it I’ve seen people do call in orders for truth too so maybe you’re on to something lol.

I’m about equidistant from Pinkertons, truth, and B&R, but the biggest thing for me was that since had to take it to go, I was in and out in about 5 minutes. That type of quick trip isn’t really happening at truth/Pinkertons.
  7. Hit up Brisket & Rice today for lunch. Got some brisket, house sausage, and the brisket fried rice so my wife could also have some this evening. The sausage was good but not mind blowing, but the brisket was just fantastic. The fried rice with big chunks of brisket in it is something I could have once a week probably… it was perfect.
  8. Right. Didn’t mean to refute anything you said, just generally agreeing with you and giving some more context as someone that’s probably eaten more riverport bbq than this entire thread combined over the years haha
  9. Riverport is pretty good but I’ve never really understood the hype. I guess there aren’t a ton of good options in East Texas but IMO nothing really stands out, maybe their ribs? I know it’s kinda the style up there but I’m generally skeptical when the go-to order is a chopped beef sandwich slathered in sauce. Tasty for sure, but I’m not going to bother trying the brisket on its own if that’s the case.
  10. Hmmmm yeah I took both of my 2 WFH days for the week having to take my 18 month old to the doctor/stay home and watch him, and while I love my son I’m kinda regretting all that now. Let’s fuckin go stars!
  11. Early on I thought Seattle was outplaying us after that first couple minutes, til I looked up at shots on goal and saw we’ve doubled them up pretty much the whole game. Fuckin playoff hockey, every possession is a heart stopper
  12. $1000 per each, but includes ticket price and minimum donation. It’s something like a mandatory $350 donation plus the price of ticket, which can go up or down depending on number of games. Was about $100 less a couple years ago when we had one less home game. To be fair though I used to sit on the east side upper deck so I consider these to be better than decent, but that may have you a frame of reference for what lower bowl west side may look like.
  13. Define halfway decent. I’m on the west side under the overhang and my tickets are about $1000 per year. You can get something without shade for less for sure, but it’s been nice since my group moved to section 8 a few years ago.
  14. Sat right in front of the corps/band section when I was a student at the last game we played them. Can’t say I made many friends that night.
  15. I was at the end of a police chase this morning on TC Jester. I was first in line at a red light to turn left when a cop comes into the intersection and stops traffic, then another cop from the East to stop traffic. I was waiting for a funeral or something and BAM! a car slams into the truck and suv that were in the two lanes next to me, trying to squirt though. Cops come running in yelling with guns drawn and I put my truck in park and hit the deck. Scary moment but that was pretty much the end of it. Got a perp walk right past my truck on the copter cam.
  16. I was thinking it was SW Houston (thinking Chinatown I guess) but realized it’s actually only 15 minutes from me so I’m going to go Friday for lunch. What’s the line/wait situation like?
  17. Went to a bar to get out of the house and grab an early dinner with my wife and son tonight, and ended up running into a couple friends that were going to see Spoon at Karbach tonight. My wife was cool and put our son down for bed while I went out and met them there, and they put on a fun show. Never saw them In Austin and I was surprised by how good they sounded in person; vocals were just like an album But the band was fucking jamming. Never knew Karbach puts on concerts - for $40 it was a great deal.

  19. It is exactly like a little tent that goes over pack n pay, child cot, etc. There are vent flaps you can pull back/tie up, little pouches for a portable fan and stuff like that. The sleeping quarters at my parents place is a little awkward since we’re in a back house with a small separate bedroom, and he’s literally at the foot of our bed and we can walk in and turn on lights and do whatever we need to do and he sleeps straight through it all. Also works great for naptime during the day.
  20. We bought one of these Slumber Pods around Christmas time to use when traveling to family and sharing a room with him in his pack n play. The first use was inconclusive since he was a little unsure if it, but holy shit I can fully say this thing works. Usually wakes up at 6-6:30 and has had to be woken up at 7:30 both mornings this weekend. A little pricey, and there may be similar things that cost less, but this one works great.
  21. Damn dude, you seem like an awesome dad. My son is 18 months old so I know yours is a little older, but we took him to the children’s museum in Houston and he loved the pegs in the hole type thing you built for your daughter. That made me realize what a cool move that was. Fortunately for me, I know my son also only likes things for a couple weeks at a time so I decided I wasn’t going to go that route 😁. He’s 95th+ percentile in everything though so I’m just getting him basketball hoops, t ball shit, and soccer goals until he decides he’s going to be interested enough in one to become a scholarship athlete. At this rate he will be taller than me by 4th grade and we’ll on his way to earning me my retirement home in the mountains as a pro athlete!
