  1. What’s the actual deal with the roof being open? I’ve been to I think one game where it was open, even with great weather outside. At the beginning of the broadcast they mentioned something with COH and taxpayers saying roof needs to be open when temp/humidity is below a certain amount, but Yankees seem to be going in on it being a conspiracy set by the MLB.
  2. Shit that was nasty. edit: Peyton Bowen punt return. You’ll see that on ESPN later. Wow.
  3. This recipe for Puerto Rican pork and beans is really damn good. Made this recently in a pressure cooker and it took about 45 minutes. I prefer white beans over kidney beans and serving over cilantro rice. It’s gonna go in the rotation for sure. Edit: If making it in a pressure cooker just reduce the liquid by a cup or two. https://foodiemcfooderson.wordpress.com/2012/01/16/jaques-pepins-puerto-rican-pork-and-beans/
  4. What changed your mind on the Lawry’s? Also, the great thing about tallow is that I rendered it from one brisket and I’ve been able to store and use it for several since then, although I’ve been doing it when I wrap. So worth the minimal effort it takes to do it once.
  5. It’s this thread’s time to shine. Gumbo or chili on deck this weekend. Haven’t decided decide which one yet
  6. Woof those prices dropped fast on stubhub. Anybody want it for $30?
  7. Basically what @dcbc said. Bake the cornbread for 20 min at 400 and then poke holes however you see fit… just so long as that enchilada sauce can kinda get in and soak into the cornbread. I think I used a fork but crisscross with a knife is a good idea too.
  8. Section 8, row 70. Will be in the shade the entire game. My wife’s birthday, so trying to be a good husband and not spend the day at a football game. Looking for $90 - which after fees etc is still cheaper than the cheapest stubhub ticket in that section.
  9. I swear to God I saw this on almost every pass they did I. Their game last week
  10. Fair on both points. I’ll have 4th down PTSD for a while from that, Ala 3rd and Orlando, but tech is looking surprisingly competent on offense against OSU.
  11. Can I just be the first to say the defense has been stellar so far this season. First half of UTSA had me worried but on the whole, what a huge difference.
  12. When Rudy Gobert isn’t slinging Covid around the NBA, he’s doing the Lord’s work in NYC subways
  13. Went to Cherry Block at stomping grounds tonight to meet up with some friends. The concept is great, and that whole development is about the most family friendly thing I can think of, but damn the bbq was terrible. It’s not expensive at least, but I’d order anything but bbq. I wasn’t expecting greatness but Pappas, Goode co, etc all have better meat.
  14. Was a freshman when this happened at my first game ever at DKR… definitely remember leaving that game with ringing ears and a headache. Others mentioned above - WVU 2012 was a rowdy one, ND 2016 swoops score, blocked kick returned for score against USC in 2018(?). Over the course of the whole game Bama this year was loudest game I’ve ever been to though.
  15. Nothing would light you up in high school like either a 40 or splitting a sixer of tall boys with a buddy of Steel Reserve. Damn that stuff was nasty.
  16. Hi. Ads on every page. Burnt Ends and been here since 2018 so it sounds like I’m in wrong groups.
  17. Is this just dark roux, trinity, chicken, and potatoes? Looks similar to gumbo. nvm, missed your ingredients in the first pic. Looks interesting
  18. This may have been covered during the game, but am I the only one that noticed both Johnson and King doing that “don’t set your feet”/jump pass type thing from that drill we’ve all laughed at numerous times during the game? I would almost say it was a consistent thing, and I’m pretty sure I saw at least 2 ints and several other poorly thrown balls because of it
  19. When I was like 12, Matt opened a small Mexican restaurant in Jefferson when he “retired” to Lake O’ The Pines. I guess he wanted something to do while he waited out cancer, but his place was around for a few years. Being that my parents owned a restaurant there and also met in Austin and had been there back in their day, they became pretty good friends with Matt. In our tiny town his food blew any Mexican place - past and future - out of the water and he was exceptionally nice to my family, but yeah… anyone in Austin going to El Rancho for anything other than Margs is doing it wrong. Maybe being a Houston person now I’m spoiled, but outside of the Queso and Margs there’s nothing to write home about.
  20. At least these motherfuckers can wrap up and tackle…
