  1. God bless America. Made some smoked chicken drums tonight with bbq and Buffalo sauces. This was maybe the best chicken I’ve ever cooked, certainly as far as wings/legs go. I read a recipe earlier that mentioned pulling off all the skin since I wasn’t interested in getting skin crisp, and that was such a good move, I assume like when Franklin says to remove skin from turkey breast. 275 for about 2 hours and it was perfect.
  2. If calling it Valentine’s Day lets me open a nice bottle of wine and get laid, I don’t care what day it actually is 🤷🏻‍♂️
  3. How many lb? Depending on size you’re probably fine… the last one I cooked got up to 165 seemingly “too fast” but ended up finishing at 203 right around the time I’d originally planned. Briskets be funny like that.
  4. Every year for Valentine’s Day I make my wife’s favorite comfort food meal: spaghetti and meatballs. Usually do the entire thing including pasta from scratch, but I have a 4 month old so fresh buitoni spaghetti will have to cut it.
  5. This is somewhat of a go-to of ours when it’s cold out. I’ve made some adjustments to the recipe (more curry paste, double the garlic, and adding cayenne, served over cauliflower rice) but overall it’s really easy and always turns out good. https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/melissa-darabian/easy-chicken-curry-with-vegetables-recipe-2107356
  6. The Houston shortage must be real. I was at Kroger a couple weeks ago before making chili and all they had were scoops.
  7. Not judging, and I kinda wish I could match, but it needs to be said that damn, some of y’all eat a lot of whataburger.
  8. I’ve haven’t gotten into reverse searing yet, but it’s just too hard to for me not to want to either grill over charcoal, or cast iron sear and finish in the oven for ease/taste/quickness. This baby got the cast iron and it was perfect.
  9. Whatever your weird ag obsession is, it’s more that you just come off as a huuuuuge cunt, dude.
  10. No shit? lol, what did he say?
  11. You’re doing it again, dumb fuck.
  12. My podunk high school ran a 9-1-1 defense. Now that I think about it I’m also like 99% sure the fight song was also the Aggy war hymn. Dang, maybe we were just way ahead of the curve back then.
  13. I thought this was a judgement free zone…anyway, those are just silver paper plates left over from my son’s (that is decidedly human and not a dog) baptism after party.
  14. Your de Breakfast Taco weekend. If you aren’t putting refried beans on your taco you aren’t doing it right.
  15. Leftover brisket, egg, liberal use of el Gallo jalapeño salsa
  16. @Chili dog you can tell us, we’re in the trust tree here.
  17. Where the hell are all the Girl Scouts in Houston? Before covid you couldn’t escape them at the grocery store or even my old neighborhood but I haven’t seen any in like 2 years.
  18. I thought PG was good, but it did nothing that made me think it was near the best burger I’ve had in Houston. Fresh and tasty? Sure but I also kinda wished I had gotten the hot dog after seeing it next to my burger.
  19. Yeah pretty sure that’s incorrect. I’d never seen it before so I’m guessing it’s relatively new, maybe their entry just got screwed up.
  20. HEB deli bean dip is off the chain. https://www.heb.com/product-detail/h-e-b-meal-simple-black-bean-southwest-dip/4134560
  21. Wish I had gotten a few pictures of this 14#, but this sucker turned out great. I’m used to smoking 10 or so pounds, so the 18 hour cook time on this was a little shocking to me. I was feeding a bunch of people so I’m just glad everything ended up being cooked in time.
  22. My dad, who has been a chef his entire adult life and restaurant owner for nearly 40 years, swears by diamond crystal. I know that’s what he uses exclusively at his restaurant, and every time my parents visit and I’m cooking he makes a comment about my salt (I use Himalayan rock salt in a grinder because it’s easy to find in Houston). when someone that went from places in Austin (I forget the names) to the French Room in Dallas to having their own place for 40 years, I don’t question, I just do. Diamond crystal.
  23. I guess in the spirit of this thread, you do you @futureman, but that’s something I’ve never seen nor even imagined. Your Mayo is my El Gallo jalapenon sauce.
  24. Goddamnit you’re going back on ignore… what the fuck, dude?
