  1. NC State looked awesome tonight. I didn’t even realize their record was so shitty until very late in the game. Horne And that center were fun to watch.
  2. We met some friends there on a Thanksgiving visit to my parents a couple years ago and it was pretty awful. Poorly trimmed brisket, sliced with the grain, and under seasoned. The owners son in law mans the pits now after having zero bbq experience so I’m sure that’s going well but one of our Longview folks should test this out.
  3. We’ve got pee and poop in the potty! We learned pretty quickly yesterday to roll the rug up, but doing very well today.
  4. I made way too much rice for gumbo on Sunday, so decided I was gonna need to make some fried rice to get rid of it. The only thing I didn’t already have in my pantry or freezer was the HEB diced thighs for lettuce wraps, which were perfect for this.
  5. Pecan/breadcrumb crusted rainbow trout with a hit of some lemon juice.
  6. I have eaten there since I was a kid and I would be lying if I said I’ve ever ordered anything other than a chopped brisket sandwich and fried okra. Not sure if you looked around at anyone else’s plates, but I’d be curious to know the ratio of chopped brisket sandwich to sliced brisket. Seems like sliced brisket is a fairly new phenomenon (at least as a “mainstream” thing) in East Texas. Im rarely up there anymore but I can’t remember ever seeing it served sliced there without being put on a sliced brisket sandwich lol.
  7. C’est bon, bitches. I don’t do potato salad with mine (Cajun wife does), but I gotta make garlic bread every time I make gumbo. It is a McWare pot that my MIL let me keep… the magnalite stuff from Grandmother in law comes later. The aluminum pots are great. If I hadn’t been busy chopping all the veggies and couldve had heat as high as I normally do, that roux would’ve been done in about 20 min
  8. Got a little gumbo going for this cool weekend.
  9. I would have broiled the chili/cheese on top for a minute or so, but this isn’t about me so take your flowers.

  11. I have found the light green jalapeno (not the roasted version) to be taster and somehow spicier but YMMV
  12. Yikes, that looks atrocious. Bodacious down the street would’ve been better, no doubt.
  13. Growing up in East Texas I would dip my fried okra in bbq sauce. Bodacious and Riverport sauces both make for excellent fried okra condiments.
  14. Still looking like 8pm? I still have an extra if anyone needs a ticket.
  15. I have an extra ticket for $25 if anyone needs one, but I can’t say I know how to transfer it from the MLB app
  16. What time we looking for our game to start as of now?
  17. I would never want to meet the guy in real life, because I don’t want anything to crush the notion in my head that that guy is fucking awesome. The Meat Pimp of C-Stat always keeps it lit in my mind. He needs one of these:
  18. Just a little Saturday shish kebab action.
  19. https://ww2.kqed.org/essentialpepin/2011/09/18/puerto-rican-pork-and-beans/ This is a really bad ass recipe to use with country style ribs. I use a pressure cooker and this can all be done in like 45-60 min.
  20. That last part is my favorite cognitive dissonance. That "worst Bama team in decades" was able to dispatch all their SEC opponents including Georgia (and hapless aggy) with their only losses being to us and the eventual national champions. They also can't seem to agree on if we got an "easy" SEC schedule or the grind of the SEC will just chew us up next year. Some of them choose to believe both of those things are true at the same time, a special aggy skill. No ya stoopid sip, they were terrible when tu beat em but had rounded into their usual form by the time the ags caught em. Totally different team.
  21. Popped hot for Covid on Monday after my wife and both kids had been sick a couple days. Only really knew because we happened to have a test left over from a little while back when my MIL was in remission etc. Never had a fever, but I was sore as achy as hell in my knees, sore throat and cough like crazy and had the off/on headache and brain fog. Not sure if it’s just the congestion or what but I haven’t been able to taste or smell for several days, which hasn’t happened since I had OG Covid a few years ago. I think I’m over the hump but still waiting for taste to come back and it’s incredibly annoying with how much I cook. Rant over
  22. The subject line has merit but content is wildly out of place. Anyway, Bakers Gold please.
