  1. Inside the Big 12's pursuit of Gonzaga, UConn as Brett Yormark aims to increase league's basketball dominance Whether Yormark has the support from the rest of the Big 12 remains to be seen
  2. Found it: Probably should point out that WVU is not in the ACC
  3. Can't find the source for this, anyone?
  4. That comes from a media guy in DC who put out who the Big Ten and SEC have vetted, with the caveat that it doesn't mean anything more than they peaked under the hood. But WVU and VTech were on the list for their rivalry and distance to Kentucky and Tennessee
  5. Or when they didn't find a media partner and instead created seven networks that hemorrhaged money for a decade with no carriage nor viewership
  6. Yeah Travis and Swaim are both sperm burping gutter sluts.
  7. Hahaha, not sure why it copied in like that
  8. I miss the flight tracking days:
  9. You're talking different top dollar amounts. The Big 12 is talking adding people between $30-40, adding to the SEC is twice as much. So top dollar is relative to what the Pac will receive vs what they'll make matching in the Big 12. And the reason they continued their current contract without losing money with Texas/Oklahoma leaving was two fold: One they were set to make a massive jump in money in the next contract, likely closer to $60m a team, so they did lose considerable value. However, two, over the past 5 years the remaining teams have increased their engagement with fans by 40% when many other groups are sinking. That doesn't make Kansas State equal to Oklahoma, but it makes them worth a lot more than they were worth the last time the Big 12 signed a contract. As for the SEC, the issue isn't that Texas doesn't get top dollar for the games, it is that going to 9 puts more games on lower networks like ESPN2 and not ESPN/ABC. Those aren't worth as much and it means less games on the big networks for the lower brands of the SEC, who also get a vote. They'll end up going to 9, especially after Texas/Oklahoma get a vote, and they'll get more for it, but the SEC is trying to do it mid contract, as opposed to the B1G who did it at the end of a contract, that's part of the reason too.
  10. They do say that. In short, ABC gets 15 games, ESPN gets about 15 games, And ESPN2/U and SECN get 35-45. No one gives a shit for the 90% of the OOC games, so that's just fodder for wherever it happens to work for pennies on the dollar. Going to nine puts 8 more games in play and the mouse will be saying, "those go on 2/U bro" and 2/U doesn't pay what ABC/ESPN pays. Additionally, the 8 games that will end up on 2/U isn't going to be Texas nor Alabama, its going to be the South Carolinas and Kentuckys of the world. And just like the Indianas and Iowas of the world stopped more B1G expansion so they wouldn't lose their highlight games, the shit kickers of the SEC are saying "hold up dawg, that doesn't sound so super no more"
  11. Yeah its messy, but basically they EARN full shares from the B12, but give them back. The SEC's seems to be paying part of the money on loan to future earnings, so less share until finished. Creative, but misleading.
  12. Big 12 talks expansion, source says, as commish touts 'plan'
  13. In the summer its like Key West North
  14. Also Pearl Street and the Flat Irons
  15. Yeah, this. There are like 10 schools who bring unreal down to massive money: Texas, Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, USC, Penn State, Florida, LSU, and Oklahoma. If you're not in that list you're not even bringing equal money, let alone growing it. To everyone else, you're not out of it, you just need to catch up. Far bigger chance of growth in the B12 and ACC than the Big 2, who are cashing in on the success of the last two decades.
  16. The media has not been kind to sitting at 8 and the ACC is staying veeeeerrrrrry quiet
  17. When they did the original remix it was supposed to hit $50m by the end of the contract, which I think is '25. Granted, its going to be off a bit, but the next contact should show full payout around $530-600m if it was a baseline continuation of the last deal from a per team standpoint.
  18. While not sure about that medical school claim, I'm pretty sure the B12 required any prospective member have on campus venues. I think what held USF/Memphis back was those didn't exist.
  19. Haha, never heard this one before:
  20. If it gets you Arizona/ASU, i can see it. Zona is worth far more than the Zags, even in just basketball.
  21. They just released this too: Big 12 to Establish Commercial Sales Division Today, the Big 12 has announced it will create an internal commercial sales division for the first time in the Conference’s 27-year history. In having complete control of its commercial business, the Conference is also announcing the hiring of Sean Desmond, the Big 12’s first-ever Vice President of Sales to lead commercial efforts. Desmond will report directly to Commissioner Yormark. Additionally, the Conference is hiring Austin Greenstein as Senior Director of Ticketing and Partnerships. Greenstein, most recently with Fenway Sports Management and the Boston Red Sox, will report to Desmond. The Big 12 Conference’s commercial outreach strategy will be executed at the local, national, and international level. The Conference will use its in-house sales engine to maximize current revenue streams - which includes Big 12 Championships - as well as establish new opportunities. One of the first commercial sales opportunity the Conference will pursue is the title partner for the 2024 Big 12 Pro Day, being held at The Star in Frisco, TX. Additional opportunities include the partnership rights of the Big 12 replay operations room and its entire gameday venue monitoring operation, the Conference’s 2023 summer activations in New York City’s Rucker Park, as well as other newly introduced IP. “As we continue to innovate the Big 12 Conference, controlling our commercial business is a crucial step,” said Commissioner Brett Yormark. “Through our commercial sales division, the Big 12 will look to grow each aspect of our Conference, enhancing existing revenue drivers and establishing new ones. Following his five years leading commercial sales in the college athletics space, we are thrilled to welcome Sean Desmond to the Big 12 family.” In addition to sponsorship sales being led internally, the Conference will lead all its ticketing sales and operations for its championships and new events. The Conference will continue to work with LEARFIELD on a project-by-project basis and will tap into its vast resources, including ongoing relationships with LEARFIELD businesses CLC and SIDEARM, as the Conference continues to innovate and grow.
