  3. Per Kiplinger, Texas is one of the least tax friendly states for retirees. Colorado came in as one of the best states for retirees. You might be surprised to see the Lone Star State on the list of least tax-friendly states for retirees. After all, isn't Texas one of the handful of states with no income tax? Well, yes, it's true that there are no income taxes in Texas...which means no taxes on Social Security benefits, pensions, 401(k)s, IRAs, or any other type of retirement income. But a lot of states don't tax these types of retirement income anyway (or at least partially exempt them), so states without any income tax don't necessarily have an advantage over other states when it comes to taxes on seniors. Texas' main problem is with its property taxes. The state's median property tax rate is the seventh-highest in the country. For our hypothetical retired couples, that means an estimated annual property tax bill of $4,383 for the couple with the $250,000 home and $6,136 for the couple with the $350,000 home. On the bright side, seniors may be able to get a $10,000 property tax exemption, have their tax bill "frozen," or delay payment of taxes. Sales taxes are on the high end in Texas, too. The state imposes a 6.25% tax, but local governments can tack on up to 2% more. When combined, the average state and local sales tax rate in Texas is 8.2%, which is the 14th-highest combined rate in the country.
  4. Yes, depending on the home value, the property tax savings offsets the state income tax. Our current home is assessed at about $850K and our property taxes are a little over $6K. We're looking at moving to a new home in an unincorporated area. Sales tax will be 2.9% as opposed 8.52%. Will save quite a bit on Amazon purchases.
  5. I think CO is pretty solid blue at the state level. There has only been one republican governor since 1975. At the Congressional District level, District 4 & 5 are solid red. Boebert's 3rd district is the most vulnerable in my opinion. We'll see what happens in the new 8th Congressional District.
  6. They have/had two Rudy's in CO. There was one in Greeley that closed, but I believe the one in Colorado Springs is still open. Wayne's Smoke Shack in Superior is legit. His restaurant was closed after the fire in December and I don't think it's re-opened.
  7. Trail Ridge Road typically doesn't upon until the end of May, so that may not be an option. I'd recommend Rock Cut Brewing to eat. Absolutely avoid Bob & Tony's Pizza and Estes Park Brewery
  8. No doubt. I think she was just relishing in the fact that the assault on the Capitol forced the Far-Left Speaker to flee from the House Chamber.
  9. I truly don’t think she’s smart enough to have been involved with the planning.
  10. I'd like to think State increases in the minimum wage would be impacting this chart. Just think what will happen if Biden increases the Federal minimum wage?
  11. This is almost the same as mine, but I'm giving Trump NC and Biden GA
  12. In CO, and voted as did Goredho. Voted for every Democrat, and against any GOP/Conservative ballot amendments/propositions, save one, the National Popular Vote. A no vote was for the conservative side of things, but CO is a solid blue state now and should be in the future. I'd hate to see the Dem win the CO Popular Vote, and have the electoral votes go to the GOP candidate should they win the National Popular Vote. Again, don't see that happening, but not going to risk it.

  16. Current rate is 5% plus 0.25%/month failure to pay, 8% total.
  17. It's called proper grammar. Would it be proper grammar if she had said eyes? "But she burns facts and then she uses that ash to create a perfect smokey eye"
  18. If you want to make that argument, why did none of the retiring GOP representatives vote to impeach? They have nothing to lose. Gardner would likely not benefit by supporting impeachment. Not sure if there would be a chance of him being primaried, but many GOP voters would not vote for him if he voted to impeach Trump.
