Speaking of Yankee pitchers, I wonder if the Astros see anything in him to make an offer for Lance Lynn.
-
I think Morton is hurt or they would have worked out a deal with him. Sonny Gray looks like someone who the Astros could improve. He has nice spin on his pitches, and he could benefit from ditching the sinker.
That would be interesting.
And if it worked, another feather in Luhnow’s cap for not getting caught up in the hysteria last year around him that resulted in the Yankees giving up their then 4th, 8th and 12th best prospects. -
Dodger GM Farhan Zaidi to Giants as Pres of BB ops. I don't like a Dodger insider leading the enemy.
Whoa... -
North Texas bloodbath
Did the Dallas HQ2 bid have any state incentives kicked in?
Because if it did, it doesn’t anymore.

"I'm so fucking proud of you guys" - Beto to close his concession speech

The strikeout was of Little Biggio fwiw.
The batter before he faced Vlad Jr who earned a walk.

Another stats / numbers guy will be found. THeyll probably promote from within.
Im more concerned about changing passwords
I liked one of the twitter responses to Tags tweet on Mejdel: “the cardinals already knew this” -
Mejdal, Fast, AAA coach for no reason...I’m sure there are others I’m missing.
At least we’ll always have 2017! -
Apparently neither is getting a ring

Our comp pick will be after the 2nd round
In six seasons, only five players have accepted the qualifying offers out of the 73 issued by major league teams.
Keuchel, who was 12-11 with a 3.74 ERA in 34 starts in 2018, made $13.2 million last season.
The Astros, however, chose not to make offers to right-hander Charlie Morton or utilityman Marwin Gonzalez. Morton should be sought after in a pitching-hungry market. The right-hander was 15-3 with a 3.13 ERA in 30 starts for the Astros in the regular season.
"I've put everything into the Astros, so I fully expected to get one," Keuchel said, according to MLB.com. "I'm a little shocked Marwin and Charlie didn't get one. That's what they felt like, so we'll see within the next 10 days. I would assume we'll turn it down and look at other offers and figure out what's best."

Yeah answers have already been said, but:
-Whitley and JB went to the AFL to get more work in not to “showcase their talents”
- Dallas is looking for long-term deal.
Give the QO to get the draft pick
-$18 is too much to CFM for one year and, yes, astros likely want him for two, so don’t extend QO in case he decides to accept. Meanwhile negotiate for a 2 year deal. -
This news is pleasing to me... and timely.
My weeknights have been empty since baseball ended last week. -
Bukauskas had a rough go his last time out but has been excellent his other three so far in the AFL
-
lol, that video is great. Once the bat cracks that ball...
Oh no! no. No. No! NO!!!!
No!! No!
OH YEAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!!
It's like an orange Koolaide man ruining a bunch of Dodgers fan's night. Just greatness.
Hahahahaha
Hadn’t thought about the mental image of the kool aid man.
That gutteral YEEAAAHHH is me...a year’s worth of anticipation and excitement (more like lifetime) released upon the realization it may actually happen that night.
I also liked the faint “Darvish, you suck!” You can hear near the end. -
Down to 33 on the 40 man roster. Plenty of room to add and protect prospects.
Doh.
Yeah, I forgot about this little thing called free agency that freed up 7 spots this week
Good link that shows the current 40 man:

It’s officially November 1.
Happy World Series Anniversary, boys

Somebody who knows more about 40 man roster and Rule 5 draft and such can probably shed some light on this, but it seems to me we may NEED to trade some guys on the 40 man to protect some of our better prospects. We have guys that are blocked or out of options that need to be gone. I think we will see a trade offer made for Realmuto that makes sense for both teams. Now if it's good enough is another question.
Yeah this bears watching
We’re going to lose some names we’d prefer not to absent some trades.
Deadline to solidify the 40 man before the Rule 5 draft will happen around the week of thanksgiving so not a lot of time- 1

Good post
How many teams have 0 regular LH starters?
I could see a push for Gio and him being a bit of a surprise after the Astros work their analytic/spin/ball doctoring magic. I’m really high on Eovaldi....even before his postseason.
Good points about Cruz and limited market. Would prefer another lefty but wouldn’t be disappointed in this
For what they would cost, give me Ramos all day at catcher
OF I don’t see how you do anything other than roll with Tucker, and if he has a 2017 Fisher-like first half (shudder) make a move at the deadline
-
Damn.
My one and only time to see him came at Ray Benson’s birthday bash at SXSW this year.
Glad I had the opportunity -
Game 5 was one year ago today. That was fun.
And Game 5 ended at 12:38am one year ago today.
I drove back to Austin after that game, at work by 8:30 the next morning and on a flight to LA at 7am the morning after that for games 6 and 7.
Adrenaline is a helluva drug

one of my favorite books to read to my 3 year old (This is Baseball by Margaret Blackstone) ends with this.
Today was the first day since end of March this wasn’t true.
Damn I’m bummed- 1
