  1. Sadly, I’m starting to agree.
  2. Expanding the field absolutely fixes the problem though. We went from 2 to 4 to 12. Get it even higher and the playoff committee becomes meaningless as any good team is getting in. The committee will never become meaningless. The committee only becomes meaningless when there isn’t one; when a structure of divisions or conferences is setup with everyone understanding black and white wins and losses criteria before the first snap of fall practice. Hours and hours are spent every March arguing about decisions the basketball committee makes about teams slotted ~64th-72 (likely soon to be expanded to ~96-100). And every so often one of those last teams in ( #11 seed NC State in 2024, #11 seed Virginia Commonwealth in 2011) makes it to within arms reach of playing for the championship.
  3. That won’t do anything but push the problem farther back in the standings. So instead of arguing if a 3 loss team is deserving of a spot in a 12 team field, the argument will be if a 4 loss team is deserving of a spot in a 16 team field. and before anyone says “a 4 loss team has no right to argue for inclusion in a playoff for a national championship” a lot of folks said the same thing when it was a 4 team playoff when teams ranked 5-8 were complaining. seriously, would a 4 loss Texas team this year (with losses to, say tOSU, Florida, Georgia and either ou or A&M) be deserving of a 16th spot over 3 loss Michigan, USC, Arizona, Houston, or Georgia Tech? What if the 4 were tOSU, UGA, ou and A&M? idk the answer but I do know we’d have all of these same arguments just with one extra L in everyone’s loss column.

  5. Am I the only one that didn’t know the ~13 arches in left field symbolize the tracks that departed from Union Station? had no idea until the tour I was on a week ago. (sidebar, if I retire in Houston, I’m definitely signing up to be a tour guide). also, I forgot how awful the wall looks with all of those sponsors plastered from end to end.
  6. 2034 is still a ways off. but yeah, crazy to think it’s already a quarter century old.

  9. About as accurate as the committee.…including the likelihood that 1 or 2 members probably needed reminding we’re no longer in the Big 12 The 12-team college football playoff format aims to include the most deserving teams based on their performance throughout the season, considering factors like win-loss records, strength of schedule, and conference championships. Texas could be a strong candidate for inclusion in the playoff for several reasons: 1. Strong Season Performance: If Texas finishes the season with a high win total and competitive record, they will boost their chances. Key wins against ranked opponents can further enhance their credentials. 2. Strength of Schedule: Competing in the Big 12, Texas typically faces strong competition throughout the season, which can strengthen their playoff resume. 3. Quality Wins: Victories over other top-ranked teams, particularly in conference play, can demonstrate Texas' ability to compete at a national level. 4. Historical Significance: Texas has a rich football tradition, and their involvement in the playoff can attract interest from fans and enhance the overall profile of the tournament. Ultimately, the inclusion of Texas would depend on their performance metrics compared to other contenders and the final committee decisions.
  10. Yeah I’m as old soul and like the traditional stuff as anyone, but how anyone could be in attendance Friday rooting for the burnt orange and complain about the atmosphere makes absolutely no sense to me.
  11. We’re going to finish #7 or 8 in the final AP poll…as a non-playoff team.
  12. March feel in Cameron right now. Entertaining game
  13. This is my favorite part of this map. God Bless America.
  14. This was my immediate thought as well
  15. Arch making an appearance on Manningcast
  16. Imagine trying to decide a top 4 this year.
  17. So they’d wait until Tuesday night to determine who is playing Saturday? Lol
  18. Time for Ole Miss to play 4D chess and talk to Miss Terry about borrowing her husband for the holidays. Something like $2M for every playoff win should do the trick while the godfather cleans up the mess left by his minion. (Bah gawd, that’s Vince McMahon’s music… which is about what this sport has devolved into these days anyway).
  19. Vast majority is still less than unanimity. hundreds of millions of dollars in TV deals get spent on the fine line between the two
  20. It’s really amazing to me absolutely nothing fell our way in any game we wanted after we lost to Georgia. we’re left with our only hope being the TV execs pulling the committee aside and saying “you had your fun the last month. Here is how it’s going to be now. We can’t have the entire first month of the season be garbage football across the entire sport.”
  21. Yep. Flip that game and we sit at home next weekend getting ready to host a playoff game the weekend before Christmas
  22. in primetime
  23. Who leads from G5?
  24. kicking from 52 with 8 seconds ?
