  1. It's really not. What's difficult is admitting you were wrong, or misled, or some combination of both. Once I figured that out, switching parties was pretty damned easy.
  2. You don't think a lot of the appeal is how it looks?
  3. All this talk about why the AR15... it's all bullshit. I guarantee if it didn't look like a military weapon it wouldn't sell nearly as well. They buy it because it looks badass and they feel badass when they use it. They've built an identity around this weapon.
  4. All this bullet discussion has a whole "COVID is just a bad flu" vibe.
  5. Do you think Reformed Conservative will be one of the options?
  6. Exactly! I bet the teacher that left the door propped was nowhere to be found either.
  7. Shit, I could get fired for putting a rainbow sticker that says 'Everyone is Welcome" in my classroom. It's nothing remotely close to what you're dealing with, but just another statement about the sad state of affairs.
  8. I look at that young man's face and only one word comes to mind... Undefeated.
  9. I don't know if I fall into the group you're talking about. I've always thought he'd hint at running as long as possible, but never seriously pursue the position. But I've been wrong so often the past several years, I don't know why I wouldn't admit it this time. I've gotten pretty good at it.
  10. I think this is where this should go. Read until the end. You'll get a nice connection to the SCOTUS and the Jan 6 threads for your bingo cards.

What about a run-of-the-mill asshole, totally non-tyrant like Desantis? How would you react if one state legislature over rules the people in support of their party's guy.
  12. Just wait until the marches start when state legislatures install a Rep president after they lost the popular vote and the electoral college. He'll be back... if he isn't too busy shooting the protesters.
  13. Never underestimate an idiot's desire to have his child be just a stupid as he is. Seriously, they'll gladly send their kid to a shitty private school if it means owning the libs or getting God into the curriculum.

    @Brisketexan ?
  15. Well before they could play performative politics with Roe. Now that the dog caught that car they have to find something else to *say* they're going to do until their forced to actually do it, then they'll move onto the next thing.

I disagree, this kind of cruelty can only be done by true believers. I doubt there's big money behind all of this. This is creating America in their own image shit. It's personal to them.
  17. Uh, Dan Patrick, Greg Abbott... this is more about people trying to work with their mandates than some whitewashing asshole in the TEA. Not that there aren't plenty of assholes in TEA.
  18. So this is the trickle down of the state's attempt to shield students from topics that make them "feel discomfort". I'm guessing the group that was discussing this and floated this language was trying to think of a way to define slavery for 2nd graders without making them feel discomfort. So here we are. And Abbott wonders why teachers are leaving.

  21. I think we're all learning just how useful Trump has been to Mitch McConnell. They played Trump like a fiddle, got their justices, and now they're gonna throw Trump under the bus. One day Trump will realize it too, but I doubt it. If only Trump could sway his cult to turn on McConnell, but that ain't happening.
  22. So wouldn't the founders' opposition to slavery (they know it's wrong) juxtaposed with their reliance on slavery (they did it anyway) mean they were awful people? Or is that too much critical thinking?
  23. Don't care; owned Libs. Seriously, the people in Belton and Marshall don't care about attracting anybody to Texas, much less "those kinds of people". Qualifications be damned. Besides, that's a problem for the big cities. Hell, the people of Midland and Baytown don't care as long as O&G is paying out. How am I farther out on the ledge than you on this?
