  1. The name on the diploma is over valued in most discussions. Outside of the NE and west coast and a few major population centers in between, it doesnā€™t much matter where you go to college. The college my degree is from doesnā€™t even exist any more and no one would have heard of it anyways, it went bankrupt about 10 years ago. I needed the 150 hours required to get my license, so i did it as cheaply as possible. My oldest is starting this process now. She has been dead set on going to UNC for as long as she has talked about college and is finally just now starting to think about backup plans. Itā€™s going to be rough on her if she doesnā€™t make it, but the acceptance rate for out of state females there is extremely low. Weā€™ll see how it goes, but itā€™s probably time for her to work in some Plan Bā€™s. Iā€™m hoping for free state school for the 2nd kid assuming TikTok fame doesnā€™t work out for her.
  2. Stopped by today, apparently itā€™s a summer release. I didnā€™t see that anywhere on the website, put my name down and weā€™ll see what comes up I guess. I kind of like the white face / brown leather one also after looking again.
  3. All the Omega talk reminded I needed to go see what this yearā€™s special editions are going to be. Think I may have to look in to the blue Speedmaster ā€˜57.
  4. Into May now with the expected production of my F250. Started in early February with a March 7th build date and itā€™s still sliding. Maybe diesel prices will be more reasonable by the time it finally shows up.
  5. It would make sense. Dealers we work for have had record years the last two years. The numbers havenā€™t even been in the ballpark of where they were before. A lot of that is coming from the over priced used car market and limited discounts on new vehicles. There have also been a lot of government replacements of lower tech vehicles that are keeping volume numbers way up, especially with Ford dealers. They are selling tons of Explorers set up for highway patrol and state office use.
  6. Took the youngest snowboarding at Copper last week. Ended up with decent snow Wed/Thurs which made it even better for her since she hasnā€™t been in fresh powder before. It was busier than Iā€™ve seen it Thursday with the snow, Friday it was back to normal volume with no waits anywhere. May try to get one more in before end of season with the guys based on how good the snow cover was last week.
  7. This is the edited version? What was the unedited version like? Always amazes me the level of praise/blame put on a coach. TN lived and died by the 3, yesterday they died by it with probably their worst shooting performance this year.
  8. Number of calls is somewhat an inverse relationship with rent. The lower the rent, the higher the call volume. The higher the rent, the lower the call volume. True slum lords deal with a lot of calls because of the nature of the property and also the tenant. That doesnā€™t even get into routine maintenance issues. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever had an issue with things like air filters getting changed in a $2000 a month rental, in one that is $750 you better have someone that handles that routine stuff for you.
  9. The whole story just gets more strange with Freeman coming out today and saying that he only got two check in calls from the Braves, one before the lockout and one right after it ended. Thatā€™s it for the cornerstone of your franchise for the last 10 years? Iā€™ll be interested to see what their side of it is after apparently not even discussing an offer. It sounds like the decision was made during the season to let him walk.
  10. We had ours laid out with 4 overhead gas heaters but when it came time to run the gas we decided against it. We have three open sides and after talking with everyone involved, no one believed they would actually provide enough heat to justify the cost involved because of the size of the room plus the ceiling height. Everyone is just going to have to put on a sweatshirt when it cools off and huddle around the fire place. Still waiting on travertine. First order came in screwed up, but they hope to have it in next week. This has been the longest f-ing project ever.
  11. You werenā€™t far off. I think I would have preferred they spent the extra $42M on Freddie over the 6 years and kept the prospects.
  12. I donā€™t get it. Short of Freeman just saying he wanted to move on (which may be the case), with that contract the Braves should have been all over it and kept their prospects.
  13. Residential can be such a beating especially if you are real slumlords. We had almost 200 doors at our high point and then started a management company that managed another 450 or so. We had everything from rough properties all the way to super nice. Weā€™re under 30 doors at this point as weā€™ve been converting from residential to commercial development and leasing over the last 3-5 years and have also sold the management company. Anything over a few and Iā€™m using a management company. I donā€™t want the calls, it made better sense to pay someone else 6-8% to deal with it. There are several online only companies that do a good job as well.
  14. Fuck that, a lot can be said about the cowboys front office, but they have been loyal to a fault with Gregory. If he has a problem with the language when heā€™s been suspended more than heā€™s played then so be it. Let him walk and find someone else that rather than keep on doing what weā€™re all critical of them for. Plus, havenā€™t you been critical of Gregory from day one?
  15. Going to be weird watching the Braves and not seeing Freeman at 1st it looks like.
  16. Been fighting this battle for a while now. I sleep on my stomach and itā€™s causing significant issues with my elbows, but I always end up on my stomach no matter what I plan to do.
  17. What qualifies as late middle aged? I think I might be offended, but I need to make sure what age bracket I fit in first. There is no wholesale definition for middle class any more. It is too location specific. $150k buys you a really nice life where I live. There are plenty of people in that range with 1-3 kids in private school, a 2800+ sq ft house, and plenty of other toys. It probably has you sharing a place with roommates in other locations.
  18. At the rate they are going, theyā€™ll be more expensive than the fun car by then.
  19. There are way more of these out there than you would ever imagine although that level of income with that issue is outside the norm. I hate calling someone that owes money with their tax filings, because a lot of times they donā€™t have it. It amazes me the professionals every year that do payment plans with the IRS and we live in a low cost area of the country. Then I see their tuition information at the private school and parents are paying it, then I really wonder where their money goes. 3 vacations a year, LV purses, new cars, non school sports is a huge expense locally, student loans for one not working, country club dues to be able to eat with your buddies, duck hunting leases, alimony and child support for 2 prior marriages, etc and it all disappears quickly. On the car topic, you can find decent vehicles under $30k all day every day. I bought my oldest a mid level Escape for $25k. I wouldnā€™t drive it every day, but itā€™s functional transportation. I put 25k+ a year on a vehicle and Iā€™m going to drive what I like. They get traded every 2 years and to this point Iā€™ve come out pretty well on trade in values. I do okay, so Iā€™m going to drive what I want while Iā€™m here.
  20. Whoā€™s arguing? I stated an opinion. He clearly violated the rule, that doesnā€™t mean that I necessarily agree with the length of the punishment. You do, good for you. The NFL has had more black eyes and ā€œintegrityā€ related issues that have basically slid by in the grand scheme of shit that happens in the league. I bet the next guy makes sure he doesnā€™t use the equivalent of cridley@atlantafalcons.org as his login.
  21. Doesnā€™t Stagg Jr have a pretty low retail which is what places like that are typically basing it on?
  22. Iā€™m not sure the words NFL and integrity go hand in hand. I also donā€™t see it that way especially when you are betting on your team not against your team. The slippery slope argument went away when they embraced gambling the way they have also.
  23. Heā€™s a complete f-ing idiot. However, a year for placing bets during a week you didnā€™t even play is a little ridiculous. That goes double when viewed in light of other suspensions.
  24. These are Stonks, Iā€™m not sure any qualify as winners.
