  1. People see the will of the people there standing up against the aggressor which changes sentiment. For so long we’ve been involved in regime change in places that may or may not want it, that defending the proverbial “David” sounds like a good idea at the moment. Now that everyone has seen that Ukraine isn’t just going to roll over, we’ll probably start hearing more of a call to up our level of help. Part of me would hate to ever see boots on the ground there, the other part of me says it’s time to wreck shop on Putin even though it is a terribly bad idea.
  2. I move closer and closer to being a vegetarian every day. At this point I’ll still eat chicken and pork from pasture raised producers, but that’s about it. The corporate farming methodology has really turned me off meat, especially being in the middle of Tyson chicken country and seeing the trucks on the road often. Farming octopi seems like a strange concept given what we know about how they interact with the world. We do a good job of bulldozing our way through everything though.
  3. Not located in TX, here and other states I have properties in that is the way it works.
  4. Pretty sure that’s standard isn’t it? Locally, you can buy properties for the tax debt and if the debtor doesn’t pay it within 12 months you own it.
  5. As others have said, proud of the man your son has become. There is time to be the worried parent, but that shouldn’t take away from some sense of pride as to his reasoning.
  6. With Russia not actually declaring war or publicly acknowledging they are attacking cities, is there a point where Putin pulls back to the eastern territories and claims he stopped the genocide and won? It seems that or leveling everything are the only options. You can’t win a war with someone that doesn’t want you there just by marching some troops into a city. He has to have figured out by now his force isn’t a liberating force to the Ukrainians.
  7. Got another notice on the truck earlier tonight, I’m into mid April now.
  8. We ended up going with a 90 with replacement Blackhawks. Should take delivery in a couple of weeks hopefully. It took all of about a day to get a contract on the Baron.
  9. I change all my trailer tires out every 2-3 seasons and that partially depends on how long they sit. I put my boats on jack stands for the winter, but if they sit most of the summer I’ll change them out quicker. If I buy a used trailer, they get changed immediately. I’ve dealt with too many trailer tire issues. Spare is always full size and changed on same rotation. Those things suck too and have caused me too many problems. troph, awesome road side hospitality. Makes you remember there are still good people out there especially when you get a little further out from city centers.
  10. I went Black Diamond because I want the spray out interior for the beach. I wanted soft top only but they make you order the hard top with the 2 door. Limited options also which should help. Flip side is I’m not sure how popular that model is which may keep me further out. Dealer here has not had another one.
  11. I have a 2 door on order. The dealer thinks it may come early summer because they are running better timelines on it. He said I could probably get it now if they would let you order softop only which is what I want, but you can’t in a 2 door.
  12. No, I prefer Line-x. The bed liner in my F150 looks like crap and so never had that issue with the LineX product.
  13. Crazy part is they are producing fleet vehicles like there is no tomorrow. One of my Ford dealers had a record year last year and expects it to be more this year selling vehicles to the state. Limited electronics in those help them get produced I’m sure. Seems like a better plan would be to wait until they are ready to start production and then send the build notices.
  14. In 2 weeks they have sent 5 build notice date changes, I’m into April now for expected production date. Seems kind of odd that they would send you a schedule notice unless it is somewhat locked in. Seems even more odd that in 2 weeks time it has dropped 5 weeks production but did it one week at a time. Is what it is, we’ll see how much further it keeps going.
  15. Be curious to see if it holds to that timeframe. My F250 is steadily sliding backwards. Every few days I get a notification that production has been pushed back a week on it, so I’m already almost a month later than when the first notification came. Still waiting on the Bronco production notice. Ordered a 2 door, so dealer thinks it should be this spring sometime.
  16. Copper always felt more like a locals mountain to me. In the bars after hours, it always seems to be people that live around there and drive in to ski for the day. People flying in either stop at Breck or continue on to Vail because of the amenities. When we stayed in Copper, we always just drove over to Frisco a couple of times to eat, because it is pretty limited on the mountain. When they converted the main lot at the base area to a $50 a day reserved lot, it made it much easier to drive in and out and not have to park out at the far off lots and bus in. You can also just take the local bus out of Frisco, but I’ll pay the $50 and park close.
  17. Guess you were fine with the one that took the TD off the board at the end or just the other ones?
  18. Interesting read, I haven’t thought anything about it really. People compete for other countries all the time. She is basically 50/50 and is probably way more familiar with China than a lot of those that jump around based on her parent’s heritage and how she was raised. It’s a nonstory other than the fact she’s actually good at what she does. As noted above, having the Olympics in China is already a problem with what they have going on. A 15 year old choosing to compete for her mother’s country several years ago is what it is. The hockey issue is a much more significant issue in my opinion because there is no link back to China. It’s a bunch of Americans and Canadians that are strictly playing for China to get paid with no Chinese heritage which is completely counter to what the games are. They suck, so no one cares. What happens when they are actually a good team in 2026 or 2030?
  19. Last time we went to A-Basin it was completely iced over and it was not enjoyable on their terrain. Need to give it another shot as that year was garbage everywhere. We generally stay around Silverthorne and then hop mountains a couple of days at a time. The convenience of ski in/out is nice, but we’ve been in the area so many times we’ve found it to be a better guys trip to mountain hop and mix in a snowmobile ride in the middle somewhere. Booked a Copper trip for Spring Break to get my youngest out on a board at least one more time this year. It’s still my favorite mountain in the area. Low crowds, variable terrain for everyone, east to navigate, easy access, etc.
  20. Things you learn on here, I always thought Loveland was the highest in that area. We had a great time skiing it two years ago for a day, although you better be prepared to walk/climb to ski the upper areas of it unless you can grab a ride on the Ridge Cat which was different. There was virtually no one there and the drive up has some great scenery.
  21. Training management in the corporate world seems like the natural fit if you don’t want to move into the college realm. A lot of companies are looking for training directors, learning directors, etc. We’re in the process of hiring one right now to oversee our continuing education program.
  22. Went with a Bouq’s subscription this year because she’s been buying flowers lately. We technically don’t buy gifts although I usually end up doing something, so technically she doesn’t buy gifts I guess.
  23. We’re looking at Whistler for late April. They have a mid May expected closing date this year it looks like. Never been that late in the year, but our guys trip got pushed back so we’re thinking about trying it depending on travel restrictions also.
  24. Baron went under contract in under a week, looks like we’re definitely going to be upgrading to the King Air. Be nice to have a little more room, going to suck when the bills start coming in versus what the Baron cost to operate.
  25. Some version of one is probably engrained in every guy. Limited commitments, making it in your own, no one looking over your shoulder or that you report to, a spouse that is all in on the same lifestyle, etc. That particular version looks absolutely miserable to me though. Mine would involve a boat and a warm climate. Every new commitment pulls me further from living that reality, but hell it was probably dead and gone when I married someone at 20 that didn’t like the water. Now I do everything I can to chase some version of it that works for both of us. Saying that, spending a few weeks in the 2nd pic with the half my age, perfect 10, second wife doesn’t sound like a bad gig either.
