  1. A lot of smaller communities set up rolling Wi-Fi hubs because of the sheer number of kids without home internet. My kids are in private school, even there we had kids without home internet. The phone has replaced a laundry list of things that were used separately not very long ago.
  2. Holy fuck, this phone debate is stupid as hell. A cell phone is no longer a luxury, it is a necessity for most people. They don’t have home phones, they don’t have home computers, they have a cell phone that serves all purposes for less than what we were paying for a land line not that long ago. Move on, it’s fucking dumb and anyone that doesn’t think it’s a necessity in life at this point is likewise dumb.
  3. Ready Player One (or any movie from that genre really) here we come. People are spending less and less time living and more and more time trying to find happiness/community in an online environment which leads down an interesting road. America is in a great place compared to a lot of countries out there, but I’m not sure that’s saying a whole lot for our long-term viability. There are plenty of people trying to get here from the 3rd world country they live in, but does that really prove we are great or are we just in a better position than everyone else on the bow of the sinking ship with everyone scrambling to stay above the water line? We are well on our way of a track for greater civil unrest, more dissension amongst the populace, more and more violence taking place, both sides treating the other side as a combatant rather than a neighbor, etc which all leads to a bad ending. The fact that people can’t sit at a table together and have civil discussions on much of anything doesn’t bode well for the future of working through the large scale problems that lie in front of us like our massive debt, global warming, economic disparity, etc which then exacerbates the track we are on.
  4. Stopped by the local store today and they had cases of Blanton’s on the floor. Picked up a couple of those to restock, a 1.75 of Buffalo Trace, a 1.75 of Eagle Rare, a Bardstown Ferrand, and a WT Rare Breed Rye. There are a lot of $100+ bottles from distilleries I’ve never heard of sitting on the shelves right now.
  5. No idea, but when it gets really unseasonably warm on a given day here in the winter months, it’s pretty well a guarantee that it’s going to get bad.
  6. 77 degrees yesterday, the precursor to bad shit this time of year. Typically it’s a bigger problem in February in this area. I can’t remember a December outbreak locally.
  7. I’ve seen a number of tornado’s in my area including one hitting the college dorms a couple miles from my house, another running through downtown a couple miles from our office, etc. and this one looks to be worse than all of them over the last 20 years combined. Pray for the best for the staff we have in the area, but you really can’t find out much right now.
  8. Think I’m going to book PC for MLK weekend and Copper for President’s weekend. May as well go with everyone else on the holiday weekends. My kids can’t quite decide if it’s something they want to get into, so I may be knocking out some solo days.
  9. Only thing I would disagree with is that for a first trip I would skip park hopper and just do one park a day. The layout of DL is conducive to moving around the park easily and I would just focus on one each day to keep it simple. We’ve tried local hotels, renting a house, and the Grand Californian and I’m still partial to just renting a local house with a pool. It gives everyone room to spread out when you are done each day and it’s super easy to get back and forth.
  10. There is a point where you are pushing boundaries too far and just delaying the inevitable. That is what a lot of that felt like. I don’t really understand the guys that do it on rock faces, but when you mix in ice and snow and the instability of it the odds of failure just fly past reasonable sense. I respect the hell out of the people that can live on that razor’s edge, but I definitely don’t understand the mindset. Watching the 4-5 older climbers in the middle talk about how they thought he was going too far says a lot about the boundaries he was pushing.
  11. Noticed a nice solid day from the markets when I’m catching up on news, log in and see my portfolio took another nice 5% shit. It’s a race to the bottom. Luckily I cashed out a chunk of UUUU when it hit double digits, flip side is I was smart enough to buy more shares of AMY and IBRX with a portion of those funds
  12. It’s worth watching, it’s well acted and an interesting story. It’s definitely not a comedy though. The whole back story behind it is crazy and watching it unfold in the series is just as crazy.
  13. One month into the 16 year old driving and it looks like two mirrors are going to be on her Christmas list. Backing out of the garage is hard to do especially in an older house with miniature garage doors apparently. Life 360 is a nice little app to check whereabouts and driving information. I sure am glad it wasn’t around when I was 16. If it would just help her back out if the garage, it would be perfect.
  14. You have some real fans, looks like Penelope is following you around as well. On the coin front Mana is having a good run the last few weeks. Bought in at the right time on that one.
  15. They did something similar in one of the suburbs of Memphis. It made zero difference and everything kept moving right along. It was the same issue, wastewater treatment plant was overloaded.
  16. Forgot to add, the Besh restaraunt at the Thompson is really good and their rooftop bar setup is great if the weather is decent. The Bourbon Steak at the JW is our go to steak place now when in Nashville. It is outstanding. Any of the M street restaurants (Kayne Prime, Whiskey Kitchen, etc) are good. You really can’t go wrong downtown.
  17. Depends on what you want to spend and where you want to be. The Kimpton has easy access to the older bars on Division and Hattie B’s. The Thompson has easy access to the Gulch. The JW is where we have stayed the last couple of trips with access to Broadway and the areas around the Gulch. Their are cheaper hotels around them, but those are the nicer ones we have stayed at.
  18. I’m pretty sure the neck issue led to the missed games in 2019, last year was unrelated to it. I guess you could make the argument that it has led to production declines, but he is still playing well just not at his 2018/2019 pace. That draft has hardly anyone that has played at a Pro Bowl level after that pick and very few second contracts at this point.
  19. To be fair LVE has somewhat been derailed by injuries, that pick is not like the others.
  20. What? Tie is a loss in every pool I’ve ever played in. You have to win to advance.
  21. Nobody wanted to win that game. That was a horribly played OT.
  22. Correct, he probably needs to play the shittiest team available Sunday if he wants to win with the way the last two weeks have gone.
  23. Never play an f-Ing road team. Knew better than to do it.
