  1. Jordan on Sunday. 11 has been a bear today, hole placement is tough.
  2. Heading back in early November for the first time since all this shit started. I’m looking forward to it, mask or no mask. If I can wear one for 5-6 hours in transit, I can wear one around the casino floor. Trying to decide between Aria or the Cosmo again, think I may go Aria for something different.
  3. Our oldest is high risk, so I understand the concerns. However, you can do most things and still operate carefully. We stuck with outdoor dining places, private boating activities, really didn’t worry about the beach or pool, a lot of the indoor places like the aquariums have not been super busy, etc. Saying that though, there are a lot of people in FL right now. You’re probably going to be shit out of luck on stop number 3 also. I imagine east TN is covered up with people and it’s square in the middle of anti-vax country. You’re probably going to be limited to driving through things, maybe some hiking, and not much else based on the concentration of people. It is likely much higher than most of the places in FL.
  4. If you end up having to avoid the beaches, the Mote Marine Aquarium is worth a visit, the Myakka River State Park is a nice area, you could go north to Tampa for a baseball game or the aquarium there or the battleship museum in Tampa, Everglades tours, go to one of the Manatee springs, Ford/Edison museums in Fort Myers, etc.
  5. If you decide to drive down to Sanibel, I would go out to Bowman’s Beach if you want a public beach. I can PM you my address also if you want to park at my house and go down to the beach from there. It’s pretty close to Bowman’s, but it is a private neighborhood surrounded by nature preserves so the beaches are usually pretty empty. There are restrooms at the pool, so it’s just whether you want to make the 2 hour and 15 minute drive back and forth. AMI is a much closer option if it stays clear and you can pretty well pull off anywhere once you are past Longboat.
  6. We just drove back home yesterday, beaches in our area were still clear. There were some pretty severe storms that came through this week, so the water isn’t as clear as normal and there is some seagrass and stuff on the beaches. However, as of Thursday it had cleared up quite a bit. I checked the current red tide map, it looks like it may be more clear north of you so you may be able to find a shorter drive. Anna Maria looks fine right now as it has cleared out of Tampa Bay. Longboat to Venice is a mess right now and I think is under a no swim advisory. If you drive down to Sanibel, weekdays would be better depending on how long you are down. Weekends are packed and it is slightly better during the week. You could also find someone that runs out to Cayo Costa from closer to where you are and just go out there for the day. It has not been busy when we have been up there. Weather has been crap this summer. Wind/rain have been pretty consistent so the beaches have not been great. Combine that with a shit ton of people and we hung out at the house most of the summer rather than getting out a lot.
  7. A lot of cardiologists also run research operations as part of their practice. I think massive amounts of information has made it more apparent how significant blood pressure is to a number of different things. I don’t remember the numbers but long term kidney problems jumped significantly once your BP passed a certain number. High BP typically also goes along with a laundry list of other health issues.
  8. Good luck, it’s better to know if there is an issue or if everything is good to go. Peace of mind is worth a lot.
  9. I take a low dose Bisoprolol/hydrochlorothiazide combo along with amlodipine. I never really thought about the effect the diuretic has on working out, but that does explain some things. I cramp up or get sore much easier now than I ever did before. There are times when I feel like I’m 40ish going on 80 from certain activities.
  10. Flown Delta a few times in the last few weeks, they have been uneventful and people have been much more respectful boarding and unloading than in the past. The airports (especially Atlanta) still seem like they are way down on volume even though I think RSW has hit some record summer volumes.
  11. Flew back down last weekend to get everything packed up to take home for the start of school. Decided to actually take the week off and try to get some end of summer fishing in. Worked out perfect with awesome weather of wind, wind, rain, more rain, wind, etc for the week. It has been an interesting summer of weather in SWFL. Did manage to catch some more snook/trout in crap water, but sight fishing big fish on the beach has been a lost cause. Time to start boat shopping again. I really like walking the beaches, but I need the option of getting out.
  12. Looked like he had to check up because his strides were off.
  13. Similar story, I didn’t even have a primary care doctor. I would just go to the convenient care every couple of years when I had a major sinus infection and get a shot and never went to the doctor other than that. BP always ran high (140/85 or so) when I would check it or when I would go to the eye doctor and they checked it but I didn’t worry about it. I ate well, was in reasonable shape, had no major issues, etc so a doctor was a waste of time. Then I had a couple of issues where I went to a convenient care a couple of times in a 6 month period and both times it went up into the 230/130 range. The first time it dropped within a couple minutes, the second time it didn’t which is when they wanted to call the ambulance. Wife convinced me to go see a primary and that led to the cardiologist referral. Now I see him twice a year and do a stress test, ultrasounds, and cardiac MRI’s every other year. I think I’ve been poked more in the last 4 years than the previous 40 combined, but it’s made a difference.
  14. That’s another crazy number that was put up.
  15. It’s the Olympics, most of these people don’t make millions and do have to work shitty jobs to pay their bills outside of the top names. I have zero issue with them using their platform to take on issues. It’s what people with an audience do and this is their shot to take on shitty policies, shitty prejudices, and shitty people in general. In case you missed it, go back and listen to the shit the Venezuelan triple jumper deals with. The world is a screwed up place. As far as the overall Olympics, we have watched every night and I rarely watch TV or sports. Swimming and track and field have both had great stories coming out of them and ultimately that is what the Olympics are about. It’s the stories of the teenagers that do the unexpected, the old guard like Allyson Felix making one last stand, people like Finke coming out of nowhere and going double gold, the epic 400M hurdles final, etc. I don’t understand people like Helo that come in and post how happy they are for a team to lose. The women’s soccer team has dealt with some shit over the years while being one of the most successful US teams ever really, they have earned the right to take their stand.
  16. Send me your address and I’ll ship you this book for your kids I saw the other day.
  17. No, it’s not. He clearly wasn’t doing well, he clearly quit on his team to do a reality show, and his agent clearly was pushing him the direction of personality over player. Sure he probably could have taken a low level job, but the agent was pushing him towards the other opportunity because it was better financially and a better fit with his personality. There is an explanation that you should be fine with and you can move on. I’m not sure how you’re stuck on this and not the dog getting killed in the first episode as potential plot problems, but you do you. If you cannot move on, can you at least shut the fuck up about it? It’s a comedy and a pretty good one in comparison to other things on TV. If you need more realistic sports, I would like to refer you to watch actual fucking soccer.
  18. When I went to one and my BP registered that high on 2 separate readings, they immediately called an ambulance. I told them I wasn’t going to the ER, so they made me sign a release and get a ride before I could leave the clinic. I have a note from cardiologist on my phone now in case it registers high. He also put an EKG readout with it because it shows an anomaly that makes it look like a heart attack. I learned a lot from my issues and the main thing was go to a legit cardiologist if your BP does odd things. If it’s high, it’s high but if it varies high there could be other issues. My primary put me on high dose BP medication which the cardiologist immediately took me off. He said if I stayed on it for any length of time it would back me into a corner on what could be done down the road to control the issues. I take some very low dose BP medication and heart rate medication now which gives me plenty of options as time goes on if things change.
  19. I had a similar BP issue and my doctor recommended me seeing a cardiologist after seeing it hit that level on two straight visits. That was the best recommendation I’ve had from a doctor. Cardiologist ran me through a full battery of tests and discovered a defect where every time my heart rate increased it squeezed one of my arteries and cut off blood supply which pushed my heart rate and blood pressure higher. I take a pill now to keep my heart rate below a certain level and have had zero issues since. It has made working out different but I’m not dead which is a positive.
  20. Shhhh, don’t be sending people to my spot. We’ve had a house on the west end of Sanibel for several years. Everything from Anna Maria south is so much better than the Destin area in my opinion. That is after spending a couple of weeks a year on 30A for 20 years and also looking to buy there when we ended up buying on Sanibel. We spent a couple of weeks a year in both places and it ended up not being a hard choice to buy on Sanibel. However, it’s been a lot busier this summer than prior summers. Luckily, we’re in a small neighborhood bordered by nature reserves on both sides so at least our beach is always empty. The original Goatfeathers location closer to Blue Mountain Beach was always easier to get in and out of than the other.
  21. Seems like it isn’t uncommon for high draft picks to skip the pre draft program. Sucks for him, if he doesn’t sign I assume he is heading back to Vandy as the other options suck. It seems they should basically relegate them to free agents if the team does not sign them at slot value. He’s asking for over slot, but if they offered slot and he didn’t take it then it’s on him. If they never offered slot, then he should have better options available.
  22. A lot of it is probably related to where you ride. I spend most of my time on a smaller lake where most everyone that is out has a house on it. There are always outside people at the beach, but it’s just never come up. For the last 15 years I’ve had kids with me 99% of the time and prior to that we usually always had 5-6 other people always with us, so it’s not like I’ve been looking. I’ve also always been the one with the boat outside of last summer, so I haven’t been looking for rides either. Another thing to add to the list of shit I’ve missed out on since I got married and had kids earlier than most everyone else. Ready to get back out and see if I can get the boat turned over to double digit hours. It has done way too much sitting this summer.
  23. You’re going right through the middle of fuck everybody land. FL has been slam packed all summer. We’ve been at our place since school let out and I’ve never seen so many people down this far. It also hasn’t been the usual crowd we normally deal with, it’s been a little more rough around the edges.
  24. I know I’ve said it before, but these are just things that would have never occurred to me in life. Catching a ride on someone’s boat or taking on a boat full are things I have never thought about on the water. I’m going to have to keep my eyes open for selective additions now that I know it’s a thing and my kids are at the ages they aren’t always with us on the water any more. I’ve seen some random ass people show up at the lake house wanting to go out, but they have always been attached to someone I knew.
