  1. Is there a youtube index somewhere of all the full speeches from last night? I don't watch TV news and only follow the election thread here. There I saw AOC, Crockett, Kerr, and Clinton's full speeches posted and watched them. I know we have mixed feelings about Hillary, but she delivered a banger last night.
  2. America's greatest civics teacher. He gave those kids a lesson they will always remember. Walz is absolutely incredible.
  3. Trump's idea of a grocery store is Arby's. The fuck is he talking about?
  4. Philly is definitely a vastly underrated city. They have a chip on their shoulder for not being NYC, Boston, or DC and while some of that may be true, it stands on its own merit. It's number t1 along with Denver on my wife and I's domestic Texas escape plan if it comes to that.
  5. I don't understand the tweet. Republican enclave of Alabama? Isn't that the entire state?
  6. I don't know when I read it, but I clearly remember that someone wrote an article in the The Atlantic (I can't recall how old it was and I'm too lazy to go back and find it) that described the experience of being at a Trump rally as jovial, raucous, celebratory and welcoming. And that the the enthusiasm was infectious and swept away so many in the movement that just wanted to be a part of a community. The author said it was hard to understand this through the venom and hate espoused by Trump unless you actually attended one. That magic formula is clearly gone now.
  7. This. A billion times this. I believe America will be better off with women in places requiring strong, ethical leadership. Especially in national level political elected positions. Progress is far too slow, but if we can stave off this GQP fever, I have hope that a tsunami will hit soon enough.
  8. Except that they will under the same terms he's currently saying he won't accept as their poll numbers keep cratering. Same for the top of the ticket.
  9. So the campaign has no resources or field offices anymore and now will have to spend time and money defending previously "in the bag" EVs. Nice.
  10. When was Trump Social founded? I guess his exclusivity expired?
  11. Of course let's ignore the candidates and campaigns in the name of "regression". Dumb.
  12. I've never really thought about how many electoral votes Texas has given that we are hopelessly disengaged and systemically programmed as a party to believe voting D at a state-wide level is hopeless here, but damn we have 40 EVs! Those fuckers will never win the presidency ever again if we flip.
  13. It's basically "women are dumb"...which is why they have cratered their support for any woman that's graduated high school.
  14. These juvenile "jokes" seem to me indicate that the core constituency of the Republican Party are self-hating closeted white gay males and the women who lie to themselves about their husbands being straight every day and subjecting themselves to deeply unsatisfying sex on a regular basis. Both these men and women are becoming more and more hateful every day that passes where they see people dating and marrying whoever the fuck they want and being happy as a result.
  15. Popular vote +5 is around the electoral college advantage the GQP holds, right? So about a toss up if election was today.
  16. You guys haven't seen enough faces of disappointed Indian mothers when report cards come home.
  17. Of all the things in this simulation, the most unbelievable is the Democratic Party suddenly is making all the right moves? WTF is this? Let's put this fascist fever in a coffin!
  18. More than any of Shapiro's positions, there's something about his personality that gives me the vibe that he believes he's the smartest guy in the room and I personally don't find that a good trait. He's polished enough that it doesn't come to light much, but under pressure and in stressful situations or when pressed by journalists, it comes out enough to spook me. He arguably ONLY an asset in PA and he can play that role effectively off the ticket. Let him do that and let him plan for a run at the presidency at some later point in a primary. He will play a big role in getting Harris elected but I don't think he should be her VP.
  19. I don't think Beshear is any sort of talented pol as a lot of his Democrat red state governorship credentials are thanks to his dad being a former popular governor of the state and associated name recognition. I find him the most "undistinguishable" of all the potential candidates but that's probably why he's the best running mate. Walz or Buttigieg, as many have said, are the choices if you are trying to get 350+ in the electoral vote. Either has far more juice and Walz has an incredible record of achievement as governor and Buttigieg combines being a policy wonk with the gift of communicating the value of it to the everyday lives of the middle and working class. Beshear is good looking, competent, and boring. I'm good with that. Walz and Buttigieg (and Shapiro in PA) are your bulldogs on the campaign.
  20. I'm not an actuary but I'm guessing the tables are favorable enough for a Trump death in office in his age 79-83 years to make this a very very high ceiling bet for Thiel/Vance. Especially now that they've secured the VP there is no plausible way to buy off their position. Their interest in this election is the upside of Vance being VP, but if the bet is foiled they will pivot and will live with a Harris presidency and strategize again for 4 years from now. Trump is just their so so dumb vehicle. This is dark but I think the only way this happens is if they try some mafia style shit like, "hey Vance, wouldn't it be a shame if something were to happen to your Indian wife and kids..."
  21. Vance can step down willingly. Spoiler: Vance is not going to quit
  22. I'm Indian and most everyone in my family and circle I know have always known Harris is half Indian ethnically and take pride in that, but also are of the view that she's always identified as a black woman. Her mother raised her specifically as a black woman as well despite being Indian as she thought that was the best thing to do for her future. There are articles about her upbringing that discuss that. It's insane to suggest she "turned Black".
  23. I doubt this video will get a lot of views on the socials since no one knows who she is (I'd never heard of her), but she was pretty emotional and angry under the calm delivery. It's powerful.
  24. As a card carrying member of team Walz, I'm coming around to the idea that Beshear is probably a better pick. Walz unencumbered of being on the ticket can likely be a more galvanizing force to the electorate as a surrogate. Beshear can effectively communicate Harris' message and doesn't need to have the juice Walz does as he's just supporting Harris. I'd be fine with Shapiro as well, but I think like Walz, maybe being unencumbered also helps Shapiro help the campaign because he's got juice similar to Walz and maybe it's just better to let both of them loose, no limitations. Beshear as VP and Walz and Shapiro as surrogates optimizes the value of all three of them.
