  1. Reading mainstream news websites tonight, I'm struck by how far these outlets are going to "report" the news that the race, at this point in time, is razor thin and is a moments away from Trump leading again. Cloaking themselves in the cape of margin of error, they not so transparently editorialize for clicks. Even given the litany of evidence that Trump is scattershot and incoherent, they almost universally make the claim that Harris is the one to be afraid of Trump's rhetoric. None of it makes sense in the slightest and none of it is news. It's a big ass op-ed cesspool, fooling less informed readers into thinking Trump is leading fishing for rage and fear clicks. I'm not sure if there is even a point I'm making, other than I really should just stick to this thread to get the polling. If the election was today these outlets would be proven massively wrong, as Harris would bludgeon Trump. That said, the election is still a while away and things could certainly swing in his favor just enough for him to squeak by. But the only candidate that has a path to an EC bloodbath is Harris, the polling seems to point. MSM is disingenuous. That might be serving a point in that we have to resource this fight through election day and not take a vote for granted no matter how good it looks in the present. It still annoys the hell out of me reading these stupid articles.
  2. Indian aunties won't ask you. They will gently put it in your mouth if you don't yourself, and shove it in if they have to.
  3. I'm impressed that whomever wrote "FREEDOM" on his boobs spelled it correctly.
  4. The 2024 DNC is the therapy that I never realized I needed until yesterday. I believe some weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I had already asked my wife if I could sign up for phone bank duty a couple weeks ago and she was rightfully non-committal given the projects I had wanted to focus on at work before the end of the year on top of home stuff. After Walz was done, she said, let's do the phone banks together and that we'll figure out. Then she cracked, "we don't have to wait til we die to sleep, we just have to wait until 2025". My wife didn't know about Walz's IVF journey. We are both the children of two immigrants and have two kids because of IVF (several failed IUIs and one failed IVF before a successful pregnancy). These motherfuckers have pissed off the wrong woman. We're going to fucking "DO SOMETHING"
  5. Michigan has some attractive politicians. Gretchen, Jocelyn Benson and Dana Nessel. And they are some tough ass SOBs too to fearlessly deal with all the psycho MAGAs swatting, death threats and who knows what else.
  6. Mr. Michelle Obama was great as usual, but Michelle's tribute to her mother and connecting those values to the greatness of the fabric of this nation and Kamala and Tim, and her call to action to close out her speech was some of the best, most impassioned monologues I've ever heard. You could feel her pain of what Trump has afflicted on this nation and democracy that she has such reverence for. I may not have realized this before, but in the post-Obama world, I've felt as a child born in the US with two immigrant parents that this country is somehow not mine and slipping away from me. Fuck these people for making feel like that. Watching Michelle speak today gave me a little of that pride back. I'm an American and I love this country. Thank you Michelle, thank you Kamala, thank you Tim Walz, thank you Rev. Warnock, thank you AOC, and so many others for the words many of us needed to hear these past two nights and the weeks since Biden stepped aside.
  7. That may have been the greatest speech I have ever witnessed in my life. Gotdamn Michelle.
  8. I mean, Soros does have a lot of money.
  9. Is there a youtube index somewhere of all the full speeches from last night? I don't watch TV news and only follow the election thread here. There I saw AOC, Crockett, Kerr, and Clinton's full speeches posted and watched them. I know we have mixed feelings about Hillary, but she delivered a banger last night.
  10. America's greatest civics teacher. He gave those kids a lesson they will always remember. Walz is absolutely incredible.
  11. Trump's idea of a grocery store is Arby's. The fuck is he talking about?
  12. Philly is definitely a vastly underrated city. They have a chip on their shoulder for not being NYC, Boston, or DC and while some of that may be true, it stands on its own merit. It's number t1 along with Denver on my wife and I's domestic Texas escape plan if it comes to that.
  13. I don't understand the tweet. Republican enclave of Alabama? Isn't that the entire state?
  14. I don't know when I read it, but I clearly remember that someone wrote an article in the The Atlantic (I can't recall how old it was and I'm too lazy to go back and find it) that described the experience of being at a Trump rally as jovial, raucous, celebratory and welcoming. And that the the enthusiasm was infectious and swept away so many in the movement that just wanted to be a part of a community. The author said it was hard to understand this through the venom and hate espoused by Trump unless you actually attended one. That magic formula is clearly gone now.
  15. This. A billion times this. I believe America will be better off with women in places requiring strong, ethical leadership. Especially in national level political elected positions. Progress is far too slow, but if we can stave off this GQP fever, I have hope that a tsunami will hit soon enough.
  16. Except that they will under the same terms he's currently saying he won't accept as their poll numbers keep cratering. Same for the top of the ticket.
  17. So the campaign has no resources or field offices anymore and now will have to spend time and money defending previously "in the bag" EVs. Nice.
  18. This would require significant, if not total, Democratic cooperation for removal. They cannot do it alone. And if I'm a Democratic rep or Senator, there's a pretty good case to be made to leave Trump in office as opposed to elevating Vance. Two absolutely horrid choices, but one would result in a spectacular GQP civil war, the other a focused, systemic dismantling of American democracy.
  19. I don't think this will work. Vance will probably play along, but his cabinet will be filled with Trump yes men who won't invoke it. If by some chance they do, Trump will refuse and return to office for 4 days. The cabinet can invoke it again and the House and Senate will need to vote 2/3rd's each to permanently remove him. While not impossible, I don't see that as particularly possible. There will be enough Trumpists in the House that even with full Democratic support (unknown) it will fail. The Senate, maybe, but they'd need both.
  20. When was Trump Social founded? I guess his exclusivity expired?
  21. Of course let's ignore the candidates and campaigns in the name of "regression". Dumb.
  22. I've never really thought about how many electoral votes Texas has given that we are hopelessly disengaged and systemically programmed as a party to believe voting D at a state-wide level is hopeless here, but damn we have 40 EVs! Those fuckers will never win the presidency ever again if we flip.
  23. It's basically "women are dumb"...which is why they have cratered their support for any woman that's graduated high school.
  24. These juvenile "jokes" seem to me indicate that the core constituency of the Republican Party are self-hating closeted white gay males and the women who lie to themselves about their husbands being straight every day and subjecting themselves to deeply unsatisfying sex on a regular basis. Both these men and women are becoming more and more hateful every day that passes where they see people dating and marrying whoever the fuck they want and being happy as a result.
