  1. Fred Hoiberg has made one sweet 16 in his career. He’s been at Nebraska for 5 years, this year was his first making the tourney, and he got stomped in the first round by a mediocre aggy team.
  2. I said that was the biggest head scratcher at the time, and it’s even more so now. Carlton and Oldacre are going to need to be bigger contributors right away than I think was initially planned.
  3. I always felt like all 3 would for sure go to the same school, but the 3rd brother, Isaiah, has some smaller offers, so I wasn’t sure if he was willing to be a walk-on or not. I’m glad that he is.
  4. No he doesn’t? Don’t know what stats you’re looking at but Sorrell and Chaisson have the same exact number of career sacks right now and Sorrell has played in more games than Chaisson did. Also, Sorrell is a good college football player, which is what this conversation was originally about. You can say that Chaisson didn’t live up to his immense hype, I’d agree with that. But he was still a good college player.
  5. He only played two seasons. He tore his ACL in the season opener and redshirted one of those years. And NFL stuff doesn’t matter when talking about how good of a college player someone was.
  6. The reason why people had to use terms like “underrated gems” is because he wasn’t landing the top guys. So yeah, people were maybe polishing turds, but there was still an acknowledgement that he wasn’t landing the top guys. I think Bo Davis was a really good coach here and he helped turn around the culture. But recruiting hasn’t been a strength for a while for him, and people here came to grips with that before he left.
  7. This was reportedly not about NIL. Winning a recent national championship comes with some perks.
  8. CTJ has been saying forever that Garrison’s price was going to be absurd, so him to Kentucky isn’t that shocking. But we desperately need a big. The reporting around this team has been pretty wonky, we’ve had two transfer commits seemingly come out of nowhere, better hope that’s the case again.
  9. Presley is 6’6, so he can be a wing, but either way, I don’t see him playing much anytime soon. Could pan out later.
  10. Amina’s transfer only made sense if it was because she wanted to start. She went somewhere she’s definitely going to start. She’s got a cousin on the football team there too, just like she did here. Keeping depth is going to be harder than ever in the transfer portal era. It’s probably good for WBB as a whole though. There will be more competitive teams.
  11. Tech and Baylor combined had the same amount of players drafted as UTEP.
  12. Backcourt was too crowded, somebody was going to leave. Sucks that we never even got to see her play healthy here though.
  13. This is the first head scratcher for me. Vic must have something brewing, because we are super thin upfront now.
  14. The ISU players are there for a role, they aren’t the replacements for Disu and Abmas, and no one ever claimed they were. Tramon Mark is closer to that, and hopefully Pope and someone like Garrison joins him. With that said, calling all non-P5 transfers low-hanging fruit is lazy and reductionist. We just saw a Final 4 filled with non-P5 transfers.
  15. He made 365k a year at Indiana State, Saint Louis is paying him 2 million per year. So yeah, the pay is that much better. Indiana State did offer him a raise, but the highest they got was 850k.
  16. I know we live in a new basketball reality, but not once playing consecutive years with the same team for his entire college and high school career still feels like a red flag.
  17. USA basketball basically begged those old guys to come back, because all those young guys you listed minus Chet were on the last world championships team that got their asses kicked. I’m not going to bash the OGs for simply saying yes. If the young guys want to take over, then they should be better.
  18. Slovenia hasn’t qualified for the Olympics yet, and they’re not a lock to either. Now that Dragic has retired, that team is Luka and a bunch of spares. Serbia is dangerous though, if they get everyone to play, that team is more than just Jokic. That’s two guys. Add Embiid to the Timberwolves and they would struggle to start all 3. Especially since Gobert isn’t versatile at all.
