  1. Yeah, entire basin will be closed starting this May for "approximately" two years. No car access at all to the basin, or any trails up there, including Lost Mine and the Window. Renovating or rebuilding the restaurant and the lodge as well as water infrastructure. A complete redo, which is years, nay decades past due. There is a loop trail that starts in the lower park and has trail access to the basin, but that is a hell of a hike. Don't recall the names of the trailheads for that lower trail. 2. “By securing this large swath of land along our southern border, the GLO is not only blocking foreign adversaries from purchasing this land but also ensuring this mineral-rich property will be generating revenue for the school children of Texas,” she said. Asked about the agency’s plans for the land, Buckingham said via email that, in addition to “conservation benefits” from the acquisition, there are “many types of leasing options available including but not limited to hunting, agriculture, mineral, and soil carbon sequestration.” King said he had been involved in conversations with the GLO about multiple possibilities for the land. “I’ve been told by the staff that they want to do something special here,” he said. “They want to look at ranching, they want to look at restoring, they want to look at opportunities like maybe a hunting lodge, or VRBO, hiking, camping.” This is complete Horseshit. “I am always proud to step in when needed to secure our southern border and will use every tool at my disposal at the General Land Office to do so,” Buckingham told Marfa Public Radio. “If it comes to my attention that there is a need to do so on this property, I will gladly ensure Texans are protected from this ongoing border crisis threat.” meaning building a wall along the Rio Grande. This isn't going to be another park. Its going to get leased for grazing, hunting, mining, drilling. Best possible scenario is solar farms. The state will not spend money for "improving" or "restoring" anything. Or its going to end up like the Christmas Mountains- basically abandoned and neglected, with locals offroading and poaching and illegally squatting and dumping. National Park Service should have bought it and made it part of BBNP.
  3. ngl, I thought the clerk was going to crash into (and maybe through) the closing glass doors.
  4. narrator: They are in fact that stupid.
  5. My mother was an incredible card player. She would have a black board in her head with everybody's name on it. Under each name, she would "write" what card they played, what card they picked up, etc. After a hand of spades, for instance, she would be able to you who played what card in each of the 13 rounds. I always told her she should go to Vegas and count cards. k\
  6. These bitches need to get their asses tricked.
  7. I don't normally carry, although I do own a few guns. If I were carrying and some guy walks up to me or mine waving a machete, that dude would be deader than Elvis.
  8. I agree with about 95+% of all that. Here's one thing to consider: If we went through K-12 schools and fired all the shitty teachers Terminator-style, who would we replace them with? We're going to have to pay more to attract more talent, then we can start the purge.
  9. One problem is that there are simply too many Div 1 (or whatever the term is) college programs. plus A playoff based on rankings is regarded. Guaranteed spots for certain conferences is bullshit. Big money wants it both ways. plus NIL money and the transfer portal equals: Fans: Controversy!!! so and so is ranked one spot above so and so!!!! OUTRAGE!!!! ESPN: Heh heh, dance morons. If we are going to have a playoff (sigh), then we need 8 conferences with 10 to 12 teams each. Each conference decides who their champion is and sends that team to the playoffs. Random seeded. Team with best record or best point differential is home team. Or seed based on records (or point differentials). Whatever.
  10. The ads in CR have gotten out of control. They slide up from the bottom and block half the page. I get it, you need to make money. I'm not a communist. But the enshittification is really really bad.
  11. I mean, its a very difficult job, with shitty pay, no respect and now outright hostility and threats. Of course you are going to get shitty teachers. If we want good teachers, we are going to have to pay a lot more, give them support, training, continuing education, and as a society treat them with respect. Good luck with all that. Also, you aren't going to get rid of coaches teaching just so they an coach unless you get rid of sports in K-12. Lots of good luck with that. Anybody bagging on teachers should go sub for a week.
  12. Need a penny, take a penny. Need a quarter, get a job. Sign seen on the penny slush fund at a local restaurant.
  13. Does it work in moving vehicles as was promised?
  14. Need2cumm needs to get laid. UC Santa Barbara, how hard could it be?
  15. fafo little gruesome
  16. Same. Went at lunch. Nobody in line. Had four very polite olds helping me out. Took three minutes. Would have taken only two minutes except for the obligatory small town chit chat. Also, I'm working my way through the thread, repping all the voters, even slorch. Only made it to the second page so far.
  17. My apt complex had the type where you stacked 2 quarters in the horizontal hole, pushed in, quarters fell, and pulled back out. It was very easy to cut a piece of cardboard slightly larger than a quarter, cram that into the hole, and it worked. Back to pennies: Just yesterday, I was checking my brake pads. Two pennies stacked is almost exactly three millimeters. If your brake pads are thinner than 3 millimeters, time to replace them. Although nowadays, brake pads have wear marks, so not really necessary anymore, I guess.
  18. You are talking shit to a bot, bro.

  21. Yet another example of youth being wasted on the young.
  22. Meteor!! Also acceptable: Giant Sinkhole!!
  23. This is exactly correct. These gambling sites can't risk all the money going one way, because then they could get fucked over really hard. They need the betting to be more or less even both ways, that way no matter who wins or loses, they get their vig. If all the money is going one way, then the hype needs to move to the other way to balance they betting.
