  1. Elon appears to be sucking in the gut. At least Dell looks reasonably fit. 50 year old men go bald. Its called nature. Own it. 50 year old men's faces look like they are 50 years old. Again, nature. Own it. What's next guys, calf implants?
  2. Its evolution, bra. Woman knows for a fact the kid is hers regardless of who it looks like because she squeezed it out. So she takes care of it. Kids resemble their dads early on so dad knows it is his. So he helps take care of it. Thus dad's and mom's genes get passed on.
  3. Austin may be a shitshow, but its our shitshow, bygawd.
  4. For local races (county judge, whatever) I always ask the wife.
  5. I think #2 is the answer, at least originally. Then it just becomes the thing to do. Also, more manly to sit in a giant F250 (F stand for freedom, don't ya know) than in a living room. Also, they can wear their studly sunglasses. Also, wives and kids won't make fun of them, at least in person. The Swiftian irony (see what I did there) posted above is just making fun of the car thing.
  6. I'm just hoping he picks dOTarD to win the election
  7. I don't know if you are a MAGA-tard or not. I DO know you are a regular tard.
  8. AJ Brown is a beast, but he's also a dumbass if he actually thinks he would get "kicked out of the league" for doing what Kelce did to Nick Siri.
  9. Last night during the game the wife asked me what the score was and I responded "49s 19, Chiefs 16, Tay Tay sightings 3." At some point I asked my daughter who the orange haired chick in the booth with Tay Tay was, and got roasted for not knowing. Apparently she(?) is some rapper who's name I have already forgotten that was in Barbie. God, dad.
  10. I'll ask my friend who teaches HS (not physics) what he knows. His son took AP physics a year or two ago (I know because I tutored him a little). Maybe they know what the accreditation process is. I was under the impression that the college board is pretty hardcore, and the AP classes are no joke. Based on the problems I was helping him with, I can verify the physics is no joke. Sorry for your kid. note: "accreditation" may be the wrong word.
  11. I was in Germany this summer visiting friends and of course doTArd came up, and my (flaming liberal by US standards, but mainstream by European standards) friends asked me how the hell we ever elected dOTard, and then I reminded them that Hillary actually got 7 million (or whatever it was) more votes, and then they asked me to explain how that worked. I do understand the electoral college but explaining it to these Germans how it worked was not easy. Once they finally, maybe sorta got it, they asked why we had such a fucked up system and I said that's how the founding fathers designed it, and nobody wants to change it either because they like it or because they are afraid that once we start monkeying around with the constitution who knows what would happen, and then they finally concluded, good-naturedly, that maybe we should have just remained part of the British Commonwealth. Maybe that's a better question to ask: What if the US revolution had never happened? We probably would have gained our independence at some point, maybe peacefully, maybe not, but how would our democracy be different today?
  12. Not an expert at all, but I think this is correct, more or less: AP is administered by the College Board. (Google them). Teacher has to be "accredited" by the College Board. Not sure what that process entails. Very high level, you take a test at the end of the year, the college decides if your score is good enough to get college credit for that class. Test grade is from a 1 (or maybe 0) to 5. So for example, if you take AP Physics 1, and get a AP test grade of a 3, TAMU might say that is good enough for a physics credit for a history major, but UT would say that is not good enough for a physics credit for a chemistry major. Dual Credit get your kid a HS and college credit for that class if they pass. Kid graduates HS with a college credit regardless of major or school. (Although I would assume a college that cares about its academic reputation would take a close look at the rigor of the class before awarding that credit, but I don't know). Not sure about IB, or how it is different/similar to AP or dual credit. My feeling is that the AP classes are much more rigorous, and harder to get that credit. tldr: Both are good, take both if the kid can, but AP is probably better, but harder. YMMV.
  13. Anybody read up on the cobalt mines in Africa? Child labor, pregnant women, horrible safety, forced labor, complete environmental destruction- ground water, air, land. Pretty every bad thing you can imagine. There are cobalt mines in Canada, maybe a few other places, that have better records, but all the cobalt ends up in the same stream. And there is no way to know where the cobalt in your cell phone, laptop, or EV battery came from Africa or Canada. The two streams could be separated, but do you think Apple or Tesla wants that to happen? horrifying read or listen: https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsandsoda/2023/02/01/1152893248/red-cobalt-congo-drc-mining-siddharth-kara interviews this author:
  14. Probably not worth an entire thread, so I'll put it here: Somebody in our office always hangs up blank ballots before every election. I was perusing the blank ballot for the Republican primary, and apparently they want to add an amendment to the Texas constitution that would make gold and silver legal tender.
  15. I remember when I was a child, there was this "special" kid in my elementary school who had moved from either Nebraska or Kansas. He loved Blue Thunder. He would walk around saying "I'm Blue Thunder-- You can't kill Blue Thunder!". Except he pronounced it "Blue Thaandaa". Amazing what memories you assholes bring to the surface.
  16. some years back my wife decided we needed to drip a faucet. So she dripped the hot water.
  17. This is all by design so you will just use the auto deposit and eventually the bank will not have to employ tellers. They are just trying to speed that along.
