  1. Finally watched Narcos (first season only). Very meh. Started second season, couldn't make it through the first episode. I think if they had done away with the narration, it would have been a lot better. So, I recommend you do not watch it.
  2. I hope none are. I hope someone in congress grows some balls and stops it. I expect they will try to sell as much as they can. Will it actually happen? Who knows? But even trying to sell off national forests/parks should result in figurative pitchforks and literal guillotines.
  3. I seem to recall her being pretty fucking hot way back before all the surgery. Damn shame.
  4. I tried my hardest to hear or see dOTarD during the campaign. The one time I listened to part of one his rallies, he said something like "I'm going to impose tariffs like you've never seen. 100%, maybe 200%, who knows how high I'll go." And fat, old, white people wearing DoTArD shit on their shirts and heads, all made in chyna of course, clapped and yelled in approval.
  5. For halloween, I pass out ceramic-filtered rainwater in dried gourd containers.
  6. We line dry. Unless its just a wet, drizzly, foggy day, it dries at least as quickly, if not quicker, on the line than in the dryer.
  7. Couple of summers ago, I took the TGV from Germany to Paris. If you've ever ridden the TGV, you know how crowded and chaotic the boarding process is. So my wife and I get on the train, and fight our way through the crowded stairs to the upper level of the train where are seats are, but get stuck in the mosh at the top of the stair. Can't move forward or back, people just crammed in. There was this American family of father, mother, teenage son, teenage daughter, and younger son who had just an incredible shit load of baggage. I honestly have no idea how they managed to get on the train with all their shit. They were behind us a little ways on the stairs, also completely log jammed, like everybody else. Trains starts pulling away from the station, and the mother starts screaming about one of her bags. "Did you get my bag!!?? Did you leave it at the station?? Frank, where's my bag?" at the top of her lungs. Just completely losing her shit. Screaming at her family for losing her bag, screaming at the train conductors to stop the train, etc. Just completely unbelievable. As if they were actually going to stop the high speed train and return to the station for her stupid bag. People were laughing at her in three or four different languages.
  8. One of my favorite Yellowstone idiot deaths: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Death_of_Colin_Scott#:~:text=On June 7%2C 2016%2C Colin, spring in Yellowstone National Park. On June 7, 2016, Colin Nathaniel Scott, a 23-year-old American man from Portland, Oregon, died after falling into a thermal hot spring in Yellowstone National Park. The incident occurred in the Norris Geyser Basin, an area known for its geothermal features, including acidic and high-temperature hot springs. Scott and his sister, Sable Scott, had deviated from the designated boardwalk area and entered a restricted section of the park. Reports indicate that they intended to partake in "hot potting," the prohibited activity of bathing in Yellowstone's thermal pools. When park officials arrived at the scene, they initially found partial remains, including Scott's head, upper torso, and hands.[1] However, the extreme heat of the spring, which had reached 100 °C (212 °F), along with an incoming lightning storm, prevented immediate recovery. By the following day, the acidic water had dissolved his body, leaving only a few personal belongings, such as his wallet and flip-flops. Boiled to death in acid. What a way to go.
  9. That is a great movie, and a great adaptation of the comic. Masterful performance by Urban, who never takes his helmet off the entire movie. The Slo Mo effects are incredible.
  10. What's on the x axis of that graph? If its age in years, then it looks like my dick still has ~ 1/2 an inch of growing to do before I die.
  11. yes, pretty unrealistic to ride that far for that many days. For both the horse and the rider. What the westerns don't show you is that for a good chunk of the riding day, the rider has to rest the horse by walking instead of riding. So if you are riding a horse 20 miles a day, you are actually walking probably a third to a half of that time/distance. Or you have two horses and you switch off. And you should have two horses, in case one goes lame, just like you should always have a working spare tire in car. But whatever. Its TV. I wasn't necessarily criticizing the show, just elaborating on somebody else's post. edit: Google-tron gives me a range of 20 to 50 miles per day, depending on fitness, age, and experience of horse and rider, as well as terrain, weather, weight of rider, etc, and total length of journey (total miles). So maybe more than 20 or 25 miles in a day in perfect conditions (plenty of food, water, not having to carry a ton of weight).
  12. Next administration, if there is one, should send Nazi boi a bill for 635- 160 = 465 billion dollars. Maybe to be fair, we'll credit him with minimum wage (minus taxes) for each hour of work he can account for by having him fill out a time sheet and having DoTARd sign it.
  13. Sounds like something that should be posted in the Enshittening thread. Oh, wait Also, anybody got a link to that fake cumshot thing? For science.
  14. I was in Denver City, right up the road from Seminole, a few weeks back. They have pump jacks literally across the fence from their football stadium. And for a 3A school, they had a pretty damn big and nice football stadium. Also, didn't get measles.
  15. "Obviously our economy sucks" Actually, our economy was pretty good, and was getting better and better, for most of Biden's term, despite what fox news told you and you believed like the dumb fuck you are. All that education, and you still voted against your, and more importantly, the entire country's best interest. well done, but too soon for some mav fans, I suspect.
  16. Also sounds a little immigrant-ish. Better deport her just to be sure.
  17. I wonder with all the cuts from the DOTAarD administration (no cr) to the park service, if that entire renovation project will get delayed or scrapped.
  18. Nice short hike to the mouth of Boquillas Canyon: https://www.nps.gov/places/boquillas-canyon-trail.htm Slightly longer hike along Santa Elena Canyon: https://www.nps.gov/places/santa-elena-canyon-trail.htm Cattail falls trail, slightly longer, but not too bad. If the falls are running (doubtful, but possible), you can wade in the water at the end of the trail: http://www.texashiking.com/Locations/ShowLocation.aspx?LocationID=16852 It will be brutally hot in June. Go at the ass crack of dawn, and get done early. People die there every few years from the heat. After a hike, consider crossing the river/border over to Boquillas, Mexico. Couple of bucks to get rowed across, couple more bucks to rent donkeys for the kids to ride the short but hot and dusty mile to Boquillas. If you know how to ride, the last time I was there, they had a few horses you could rent also. Kids will like the donkey ride, adults will like the margaritas and food at one of the couple of restaurants in Boquillas. Buy some tourist shit, or just walk around, shop, drink, eat. Hot, dusty but worth it. Just make sure you leave in time to get back across before the border closes. You will need passports. https://www.nps.gov/bibe/planyourvisit/visiting-boquillas.htm There is a nice little nature center about five miles south of ft davis on the road between alpine and fort davis. Shortish hikes, nice garden, educational crap for the kids. Probably a few degrees cooler than Big Bend Park. https://www.cdri.org/ And for god sakes, take the kids to Balmorhea Park for swimming. Think Barton Springs in the desert with mountains in the distance. My favorite place in Texas. You will have to get reservations in advance. From Fort Davis, the drive to Balmorhea is only about 35 miles away. The road from Fort Davis to Balmorhea is one of the most scenic drives in Texas, imo. Going to Balmorhea, when you cross Wild Rose Pass, the view is orgasmic. https://tpwd.texas.gov/state-parks/balmorhea Good BBQ place in Marathon with adjacent micro-brewery: https://gagehotel.com/dining/brick-vault-brewery-barbecue/ Might consider staying at the Gage hotel in Marathon. Kind of pricey but nice. There are air BnB's all over the place in Alpine. A shitty hotel or two in Fort Davis. Fairly nice hotel in downtown Fort Davis: https://www.hotellimpia.com/ The old Indian Lodge in Fort Davis State Park is also an option. There is also the old fort in Fort Davis if you are a history buff: https://www.nps.gov/foda/index.htm Finally check out the Caboose ice Cream joint in Fort Davis. Inside an actual caboose, right across from the historic fort: https://bigbendtimes.com/2023/10/26/19-year-old-takes-charge-iconic-fort-davis-ice-cream-shop-reopens/ I don't think you'll need a gun. Too hot for bandits, and any animals are too smart to be out and about during daytime hours in June. But I think its legal to have a gun in the national parks now (better check on that). Definitely NOT legal to take it into Mexico if you go to Boquillas.
