  1. “Andreeva the Elder”… I was wondering what the “E” in “E. Andreeva” stood for. ELDER

He’s fine. The team is acting pissy because if he doesn’t move this summer, he will leave for free next summer. If they freeze him out, then he and his wife eat at every trattoria in the greater Venice area while he trains alone and makes the same wage he would if he were playing before he leaves and gets a nice signing bonus because the team he signs with won’t have to pay a transfer fee. The USMNT can call him in during each window so that he stays fit and keeps his morale up and then he has a year to kick butt and try to make the team. Perhaps he works on taking set pieces in his spare time. While not ideal, this isn’t the first time a team has pulled this move. And like always, I say “Fuck ‘’em!”
  4. Well done hey can start by blaming Texas A&M.
  5. TBF, that clipboard beat the ever-living-shit out of him some years. Broke some of his bones as well. Beware of the clipboard on teams with horrible OLs!
  6. Perhaps I might follow track & field more than once every 4 years.

Fat Boy may be staying out. Juventus manager Thiago Motta hints at Weston McKennie stay Reuters Aug 18, 2024, 09:28 AM ET Juventus begin their Serie A season with a limited number of players available and considerable work to do in the transfer market, manager Thiago Motta said on Sunday, adding that United States international Weston McKennie, who looked to be on his way out of the club, could now return to the fold. Four seasons without a league title after winning nine in a row forced Juventus into major changes, with Motta replacing Massimiliano Allegri as coach, but they have yet to bring in the players required to challenge for the Scudetto. Motta goes into Monday's opening home game against promoted Como with his squad still a work in progress but said he appreciates what the USMNT midfielder brings to his squad. "First of all, McKennie is a useful and functional player for our needs," Motta told a news conference. "Tomorrow we have 19 players to face the game, only 11 can play. I have the possibility to make five substitutions, no more. "We are in good shape, had good preparation, good training this week, with intensity, everything we want to see, and ready to face tomorrow's game." McKennie, 25, looked set to leave Juventus this summer but sources told ESPN earlier this week that he held talks with Motta and rebuilt the relationship ahead of Monday's game. The former Leeds United player was left out of Juventus' squad for their final two preseason matches against Brest and Atlético Madrid along with Federico Chiesa and the since-departed Wojciech Szczęsny. Juventus, heavily linked with the likes of Atalantamidfielder Teun Koopmeiners and Fiorentina winger Nicolas Gonzalez among others, have failed to bring in players targeted at the end of last season. Defender Riccardo Calafiori went to Arsenal and Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee, who played under Motta at Bologna, signed for Manchester United. They also need to offload forward Chiesa, who does not fit into Motta's plans. "We are working hard to build a competitive squad together and today we are focused on playing a great game against Como. We will see the rest later," Motta said. "The most important thing is that, even if you don't like to talk too much about the game, even though tomorrow we play a game, we are focused on playing well, doing our job well and getting the result we want, against Como. "All the players who come tomorrow deserve to be there, whether they play from the start or come in during the game, they do so on merit." Motta, who took Bologna to fifth place and Champions League football last season, will not be taking Como lightly as he looks to get his Juventus career off to the perfect start. "Life is like football, nothing is taken for granted, we have to deserve it and we have to focus on ourselves and on tomorrow's game," he said. "We are facing a team that has made it here from Serie B, they have won many games to get to this point, they have a lot of enthusiasm." https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/40904774/juventus-manager-thiago-motta-hints-weston-mckennie-stay-transfer-window
  8. At least 7 match points were in one game on Iga’s serve that usually were a result of facing a 2nd serve at deuce and then Iga would get a first serve in from the ad court. Those 7 weren’t from self-destruction on Sabalenka’s part, but more accurately on Iga’s part.
  9. Because he's not a CB. LSU is taking him because they have no pure CBs in the class, all safeties. LSU said please we will let you play CB, when Texas said you're a safety fit long term. The kid is betting on himself. This is not a wise move. Notre Dame suspended its men’s swimming program Thursday for at least one year after an external review found members of the team violated NCAA rules by wagering among themselves on results of their competitions and failed to “treat one another with dignity and respect.” “In order to ensure that this behavior ends and to rebuild a culture of dignity, respect, and exemplary conduct, we have decided to suspend the men’s swimming program for at least one academic year,” athletic director Pete Bevacqua said in a statement. Notre Dame did not reveal details of the review done by a law firm. According to a person with knowledge of the situation, members of the team had set up a makeshift, internal sportsbook where athletes could wager on the times posted by themselves or teammates at meets. Athletes were not found to have bet on opposing teams or on any other Notre Dame athletic events, the person said. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because Notre Dame was not making the contents of the report public. The person said more than 60% of the returning team, which includes 25 swimmers, took part in betting on the performances of members of the team. The review also revealed some members of the team had bet among themselves on events such as the Super Bowl and March Madness basketball tournament games. https://apnews.com/article/notre-dame-swim-team-suspended-gambling-7e1842a5dd23b74e25e872e29820bba0
  10. Didn’t notice that the “a” didn’t take when I spelled “Leatherman”. Thanks for the subtle correction.
  11. Could we go so far as to call him our “Letherman” or our “utility infielder”?
  12. And this is why I don’t think that the Cowboys will resign Dak. He’s not worth what they would have to pay him.
  13. When someone starts to talk and I hear: “Yeah, no. Absolutely…” I kind of check out from the conversation and start analyzing whether I should have been able to decipher that this person was an idiot before s/he started talking, or whether s/he hid it well enough that I would have to hear her/him speak before I could tell. That said, many Argentines would start answering a question with: ”Sí, pero no, pero sí… no, es verdad…” And the mocking would commence almost immediately.
  14. HEB needs one of these machines.
  15. Zack Steffen, real American hero! Colorado beats Club America 0-0 (9-8 in PKs).

This hasn’t been deleted yet. This is sooooo regarded!
  17. You are correct. Remember that J.P. had another Match Point on L.F.’s serve at 6-5, but spaced that L.F. won the game and then lost comfortably in the Tie Breaker. Also, a Dallas raised woman who lives in Alabama is in Cincy for the tournament today with her husband and she was in the stadium for so many stars that I was thinking: “Maybe going to Cincy for the 2nd weekend is a better idea than going to the US Open.” Sabalenka, Swiatek, Andreeva, Rublev, Sinner, L. Fernandez, Pegula, Shelton, & Zverez… All today! Holy fuck!
  18. Jessica P. was up a set and 4-0 in the second set and ended winning… 7-5 , 6-7 , 7-5 Seem like played 17 more games than she had to. She played two matches yesterday and then played a match worth of extra games today. Kind of wearing herself down.
  19. 4 out of 8 are Bela/Russians.. Go Pegula!
