  1. You stopped too soon: BRAZIL’s next 5 years: 2005 - Confederations Cup Champions (4-1 over Argentina) 2006- World Cup Quarterfinals (lost 0-1 to Zidane & Henry) 2007- Copa America Champions (3-0 over Riquelme/ Tevez/ Messi) 2009- Confederations Cup Champions (3*-2 over Dempsey/Donovan USA, *Brazil had a 4th goal, but no VAR, so never reviewed)
  2. The difference between the Euro Final and the Copa Final are stuff that soccer mockumentaries are made of.
  3. This is: 1) A masterclass in shithousery. 2) Going to get violent on the field. 3) Going to get violent in the stands. 4) Painful to watch. 5) All Of The Above
  4. I think that the Argentine barely kicked the ball forward so that the Colombian stepped on the ball. Or it was a penalty and the ref is punishing the Colombian fans.
  5. The positive with this game is that unlike with the rest of the tournament, this final gets an extra 30 minute overtime of flopping and hacking before going to penalties.
  6. Enzo Fernández looked like he had just come out of a swimming pool of vegetable oil around the 44:30 mark. If they are still having a halftime Shakira concert, everyone is going to shower and put on clean uniforms.
  7. He had to roll back onto the field so that Colombia couldn’t restart. It definitely looked Neymar-esque, but if he doesn’t get back on the field, it’s 10 v 11 and… there is no possibility of VAR giving him a PK (which he should not get, because the contact happened out of bounds.
  8. The lunfardo (Argentine slang) for “clusterfuck” is: ”Quilombo” (pronounced “key-LOAM-bo”) Would you say that “The situation is Messi.”? I ❤️ Jenny Chiu!!
  9. Set? Sí! And the second set so far.

    Euro 2024

I am pulling for the Flying Moors and their Spanish support squad. The match is Olmost here!
  11. Vamos España! 🇪🇸 On Bastille Day 🇫🇷, I am double-dipping on my Spanish support. 1) Wimbledon 🎾 2) Euros ⚽️
  12. I don’t care what bathroom THEY uses! 🤯
  13. Davies fucked up a PK in the World Cup as well. Maybe he shouldn’t be taking PKs in games or in shootouts.

    USMNT 2024

The Cap’n is wrong about a lot of things, but he isn’t wrong about this. Darwin Nuñez knew that the object of the game of soccer (fútbol/futebol) is to: put the ⚽️ into the 🥅 He had more opportunities than anyone in the tournament (eye test) and only made a couple of goals. He could have easily had 5, maybe more. And Darwin wasn’t just their best striker, he was their only striker. If Darwin were to face a defense worth a shit, Uruguay’s likelihood of scoring was less than 50%. Colombia has been the best team in CONMEBOL for the last 18 months, they were the most in-form team in the pre-tournament friendlies, they are the only team that I told my gambling addict friend to put some money on before the tournament (he got 10:1 odds), and they are the team I have expected to win it all since we saw Messi looking his age in the opening match of the tournament. I pull for Argentina, but unless the refs do some sneaky shit, I absolutely think that Colombia should win. And it has been obvious from the start.
  15. If you posted this 2 hours ago, you may be watching a replay.
  16. Whether Colombia 🇨🇴 wins the Copa or not, James should win the Golden Ball for the tournament.
  17. Jasmine Paolini is such a cutie. It sucks to see her sad. “Painful to come up short again.” -Chris Fowler being a dick.
  18. Did you see the French Open Final? Did you see the first set of the Semifinal before Vekić started crumbling under the physical pain she was in that brought her to tears at times? Healthy Vekić probably finishes a straight set victory in under 80 minutes, but she played something like 4 three set matches at Wimbledon and had been on court about 2 1/2 to 3 hours longer than Paolini had. Paolini didn’t raise her level so much as Vekić started well above Paolini, but her performance declined each set before finally losing 10-8 in a third set tie-breaker. Krejčíková beat the overwhelming women’s fashion comfortably after losing the first set. Krejčíková has also won a grand slam singles title and multiple grand slam doubles titles. She know what it takes to power through and win on this stage. No question that Krejčíková should be the betting favorite. I would totally hit it, but I wouldn’t bet on that dimple-cute curvy spinner of positive energy.

    USMNT 2024

TOP STORY: Inter Miami interested in McKennie Juventus midfielder and USMNTinternational Weston McKennie has received interest from MLS side Inter Miami CF, reports La Gazzetta dello Sport. The 25-year-old has been linked with Premier League club Aston Villa in recent times, but could now join a different ambitious project that would see him team up with the likes of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, Luis Suárezand Jordi Alba. There is also the notion that a move to Miami would allow McKennie to become a central figure of the sport and its development within the United States. This comes after an underwhelming showing from the USMNT at the Copa América and ahead of co-hosting the FIFA World Cup in 2026. McKennie would have to accept a reduction in salary to join Miami but could see an increase in his value from advertising and positively impact his perception within the United States. Juventus consider the midfielder as somebody who will leave, although there is also interest in him from within Europe. Going to Turkey doesn't appeal to the 25-year-old, and there is also interest from Germany -- where he previously turned out for Schalke 04 -- but the suggestion of an American move is interesting for him. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/40549480/transfer-talk-inter-miami-linked-juventus-mckennie
  20. I think what they need in a coach is: 1) Someone who is going to look at 35 to 40 players, at least! 2) Someone who is going to take set pieces AWAY from Pulisic. 3) Someone who will cut fat players who are out of shape. 4) Someone who will sub off name players who aren’t playing well. 5) Someone who will not start players who cannot physically play a full game. 6) Someone who abolishes the leadership council. 7) Someone who develops contingency plans and is ready to use them when their need arises. 8: Someone who is willing to replace a starter who is not producing. 9) Someone who understands the physical demands of tournaments and can manage the roster so that the team is not running on empty minutes into the first knockout stage match. 10) Someone who demands the power to make final decisions on rosters and styles of play . There could be more. I would prefer a European or Argentine manager, but it is not inconceivable that an American manager could do the job, it is just not likely that an American manager will have the clout & balls to do all of these things.
  21. The USMNT “needs to understand the‘American player’.” 🤬🤬🤬 No, the manager needs to know how to identify talent and then creat a setup that will produce the best results using those players. That’s it. If a player can’t cope with not being coddled, then send them packing.
  22. I want to live to see the Euro Final & the Copa America Final.
