  1. You have no frame of reference here, spider2Ybanana. You're like a child who wanders into the middle of a movie.
  2. Yeah, even if they had beer sales, we wouldn't have done it- way too expensive and you needed pesky IDs. There's a reason cowboy boots were popular for gameday. As Mitch said, everyone smelled like a bourbon distillery by the end of the game after being drenched in celebratory beam and cokes thrown in the air
  3. I think you've got your dates off by a bit, but as one that also lived through life on the 40 during that dismal decade plus long stretch, I understand if you block it out.
  4. Username really checks out. That's the loudest I've ever heard DKR. I might have been really drunk in the student section, so it all blurs together.
  5. I'm not willing to go to futureman levels of confidence, but michigan isn't offering urban and urban isn't accepting any offer from Michigan.
  6. I have a colonoscopy scheduled November 18. So it would be nice if it's announced then so futureman and I can both have a similar experience on the same day.
  7. It's not my bag, but I'd be willing to watch futureman fist himself if it meant getting urban. I'm that aligned.
  8. Base is now 9.8. Hell we might get him for 6 if this is indicative of the fanbase he's used to dealing with. Go get your shine box and let the adults talk now.
  9. Holy shit, you really don't get things. Your question was "Are you suggesting that Urban is so desperate to take the Texas job just to spite Tom Herman that Texas can lowball him by threatening to keep Tom? Urban will actually settle for less money just to ensure Herman's firing?" My answer, twice, was hey all I'm talking about is your ridiculous claim that Urban won't even talk to us while Herman is employed. Now, you do bring up an interesting point, is it harder to coach for a fan base with a 3rd grade level reading comprehension as opposed to a college level one? If so, will urban charge Texas a little less to compensate for the fact written communications will be easier here than at tOSU? Maybe we have that tiny bit of leverage and it's 9.9 million instead of 10 to start.
  10. This. The personell decisions are maddening. Plus scheme, clock management and 4th down. But above all, the personell.
  11. I pretty clearly did. I addressed your assertion that urban would be unwilling to negotiate via back channels due to the fact herman is still officially the coach. That's it. I really don't know how to spell this out for you any better.
  12. Dear God, for someone who doesn't care, you sure argue like it's the cloak room. You said "A lot of coaches won't even enter into negotiations while another coach holds the job out of proffessional courtesy". I said "A lot of coaches don't despise the guy they're replacing". i even used the exact same phrasing as a tell that I'm responding to any claim that Urban won't talk to us while Herman is officially coaching. Now go back to your constant posting on a thread you give zero shits about
  13. We aren't firing a coach midseason without his replacement being lined up, at least with a solid verbal agreement. I honestly think that's all that saved him after ou. Assuming we have urban lined up now, next loss is the time. Again, no actual inside info, save your 9.95.
  14. Watch #11 and knock the shit out of him when he tries to scramble. Those intricacies?
  15. USC is a helmet school that can recruit nationally but also happens to be in a talent rich area that is a thousand miles away from the nearest traditional power. Like Texas, I'm stunned they've sucked as long as they have. Hell, if they just lock down southern cal they should be in the playoffs every year. Our only substantial advantage is we have a job opening right now. That should be enough.
  16. I suppose that's possible but the way everyone is talking, waiting until 12/1 still costs us 3 full years (as opposed to 4 if we do it 11/30) and not some discounted rate. Again, if CDC allowed that as part of a contract extension when he already had the gradual burnoff as the base, then I want to play poker with him. Side note, I found the original contract online but not the extension. Contract is the first hit if you search "texas tribune tom herman contract". Section 7b addresses the gradual burnoff of the buyout. But as we've established, that ain't the extension.
  17. Fair point. I don't recall specifically but I remember being pretty satisfied at the time that it settled the matter. It would be an odd move to change the manner in which the payoff burns off from gradual (in our favor) to cliff (in Tom's favor) as part of an extension. That would be malpractice on the part of CDC, but then so was extending him.
  18. Someone posted the actual contract that was obtained through a public records request. Basic language was that there is no magical cliff date of 12/1, it's that we owe him $x through end of contract so it burns off a pro rata amount with each paycheck. So if we fire him today, we'll owe him for November, plus whatever the reported 12/1 number was. TLDR- waiting until 12/1 saves us a month in salary not a year.
  19. Tom Herman killed 5 hookers. Play on an old Craig James gag.
  20. Throwing out 12/1 as a magical date when the buyout reduces leads me to call bullshit. That's been pretty well disproven by now. But I so want to believe.
  21. So what I got from that article was that Muschamp recommending Herman to Urban in 2011 was the proverbial butterfly flapping its wings that got herman here. Fuck you, coach Boom.
