  1. Like it was in 2013? Why do people keep forgetting, or just want to be in denial that OU still has scoreboard on Saban and Alabama?
  2. That’s actually ironic. It is the same number Alabama was favored over OU in 2013.
  3. Why should they care? Haven’t you been watching? No one can beat them. Hell, some say they could play and beat an NFL franchise. I find that to be a ridiculous statement, but it is said. In fact it was just said not 30 minutes ago by two of the individuals currently hosting the playoff show on ESPN.
  4. Boy, it didn’t take long for Alabama to make sure they didn’t have to play in Dallas.
  5. LJH is going to be a hell of a pro. Any team that drafts him will improve on that side of the ball immediately. I think a better version of Julio Jones.
  6. You win man. Thanks.
  7. Of course Riley inherited a better situation. And? I never said he didn’t. But I sure as fuck would argue that he took a aggy reject and turned him into a fucking Heisman candidate. That is coaching bubba, whether you want to acknowledge it or not. And he moved quickly when he had to dump the baggage of his predecessor in Mike Stoops. And if what we saw yesterday is any indication, those fuckers are getting better. And what does “getting credit” even mean? You do understand that coaching is a results based occupation, don’t you? You don’t become part of the top 5% of earning occupations by getting better. You turn it around, now. If we lose the bowl game we will basically have lost as many games as we did last year. That is not much of anything to write home about. It has been 10 years since the University of Texas won what many on this site call a shitty conference. 10 years is a long dam time. Herman is in year two of a five year contract. He still has time, the question CDC will have is asking if Herman is on schedule. It doesn’t matter what I think.
  8. Obviously more times then you, Or you too would be aware of just how different he has become. Urban Meyer was not always what we see today. There was a time he was a far more stoic and confident coach on the sideline. A quality he displayed while brakeing a foot off in Stoops ass for a title. What changed? My guess would be everything from Aaron Hernandez to covering up wife beating. And what happens to many men when they get a part of their lives where they reflect on what they have done, what they have not done, and what they should have done. It’ll happen to you as well. But then again that wasn’t my point. You don’t get to choose which you would rather have. Herman now has a losing record to his most hated rival. He has lost three times as many games as Riley over the same period, and depending on how today shakes out he may be behind 0-2 on getting his team to the playoffs at a University whose fan base can never seem to quit talking about how much they have. All while suffering year after year at a sport they (we) all love. Honestly, how is Texas not part of the conversation when absolutely no one debates all of the built in advantages they (we) supposedly have? The pressure on Herman this morning is intense. And it shows. And he had a chance to change the narrative when he beat Riley head to head in October. But then explicitly drops two games, that most of us believe should have been wins against OSU and WV. And the part that is really hard to understand is OSU had OU beat! But they didn’t win, and Riley was cool as hell under that stress. If a part of you can’t find at least some redeeming quality in that, i surrender. As I will never be able to make you see why one guy seems to get all the luck, and the other continues to come up just a tad short.
  9. The conversation between CDC and Herman this week will be intense if he is what I think he is. As I have said in other threads there is now enough data for CDC to point to specific behavior that he will ask Herman to find a way to correct. Everything from his sideline demeanor, to finding a way to put the Zack Smith saga behind him. Stop with the OK cool shit. And move past it. Herman is a good coach. But he wears his emotions on his sleeve. He worries about things he can’t control, and he is a pinball machine during the flow of the game. Which is amazing that it doesn’t appear to impact Sam. Who can smile even under the most difficult of circumstances. For Herman to succeed at Texas he must find a way to become more of the CEO type we eventually hated in Mack. If not for the team, for Tom’s health. He is not one of the boys. He is in a leadership position. And throwing your hands in the air screaming we’re all going to die when something goes to hell does not reassure the troops. Staying calm and following the plan is far more effective.
  10. I believe distractions play a part. Just as I believe that Herman has not yet shown to be capable of controlling his emotions during the game. He is a damn basket case during the game. He gets way to high when good things happen. And almost gets depressive when things go to hell. The difference between Herman and Riley’s composure during a game are visually night and day. We can also debate the issue of infidelity issues between him and his wife. As well as the Zack Smith debacle. But, you can bet she doesn’t let Herman forget any of that. Every time the OK cool, Hook em pops up we laugh, she probably doesn’t. As it reminds her, which I’m sure reminds Herman she has that hanging over his head. If you have been, or are married you know that can be debilitating on ones mental health. Because it is a constant reminder of where your marriage has been and where it could go if she decides to cut and run. Something of that nature that could be used against you at any time has got to create a shit load of pressure in a marriage. Next is his inability to control his emotions on the sideline during the game, it is becoming a liability. He simply can’t stop worrying about the final results while still playing the fucking game. He has been around far too long to have not moved past that. The obvious answer is to simply keep focused. Yet he appears to be unable to do that. Instead he chooses to dwell on the negativity. He needs a sports psychologist in the worse way. Compared to Riley who keeps almost every emotion close to the vest. And uses his game play card as a totem. When something bad happens watch what he immediately does next. Out comes the index card and you see him studying it. I believe that is his controlling mechanism, his way to force himself to refocus on the task at hand. And not dwell on what he can’t control. He does this better then many of the CEO’s of companies I have worked for. And why he is getting looked at for bigger jobs. He excludes confidence and expects his charges to behave in the same way. Quite remarkable for one so young. OU got really fucking lucky to find the guy.
  11. OU made better adjustments from the first game to yesterday’s game. They targeted a specific area and they showed improvement. The simple fact we scored half as much shows that. Though I also believe Sam was playing hurt. Which contributed to the scoring total. I also will never believe that they have a talent edge. But I do believe, at least as of now, that they have a game day coaching advantage. I’m sorry if some don’t see it, but Herman gets pretty tight in the shorts when the pressure of the game ratchets up. He needs to take a couple of Xanax to settle down before kick off. And is a credit to Sam who seems to not let his head coach’s fear filter over to his play.
  12. Exactly. We too would look super badass if we played Austin Peay, Middle Tennessee State, and UMass. And lost by 20 to a LSU team that aggy managed to put 74 points on. Fuck Georgia and fuck Herbstreit for trying to sell those frauds as a top four team. Yes they are a good team, but not the powerhouse ESPN is trying to make them out to be. Their quality wins consist of a shitty Florida team, and a one dimensional Kentucky team.
  13. My first guess would be losing not one, not two, but three of their top running backs. Had they not, they would look even better offensively if they had Anderson services from day one. Because In truth they are a running team who just happens to pass the ball pretty well.
  14. Damn, it is true that propaganda actually does work. Let me help some of you with what apparently you are incapable of doing yourselves. Texas would be just fine playing Georgia, or any other team for that matter. Look at it objectively and you will see that unlike other conferences. The Big 12 has a pretty damn solid collection of offensive teams. And to win this conference it takes a hell of an effort on defense. Coverages that are simple and basic are the norm in college football, but not in ours. The media tells you that we don’t, or can’t play defense. But that is untrue. The truth is we all play pretty decent offense. And in turn it taxes our defensive backs and safeties who are constantly being asked to do far more then just play the run. Because their QB is of no threat to establish and maintain anything resembling an effective passing game. So don’t fear. If Texas meets up with Georgia we would not only be competitive. We would have a solid chance of beating them. Their offensive game plan is far more easier to dissect then anything we see on a weekly basis in the Big12. More importantly is the health of Sam. That is the only real question.
  15. Whoa, whoa, whoa. That there is the texum aggy bulldawgs they beat. The same team that put 70 on LS fucking U baby!
  16. He will be a damn good NFL corner if he gets matched up with an Earl Thomas type safety. His biggest problem is worrying about fucking up. He spends far to much time trying to pick his poison during the route. Once the receiver starts into his route it is too late. He should have already decided {through communication with the safety} if he is going to take the inside or the post. If he decides the inside, stay on that. If it is the post the safety has to help him over the top should he get beat. Christ guys the receiver knows where he is going, the defender does not. It is why Sherman took way to much credit for his play. It was Thomas patrolling the top side that scared receivers. They knew they would get bombed if he cane in hot.

    Fourth Quarter

There is a reason that blitz came from the right side, and why it was so effective. I have since rewatched the game and I am now 100% sure that Sam’s arm was not healthy. And it is more of just a shoulder issue. How he held the football was the most obvious (that was mentioned after his TD run). But he continued to favor his right side. Unless he is now left handed that is unusual. And what some are saying that he was locking on to receivers, was in fact a physical issue that was causing, at least to some degree, discomfort when he panned his head left to right. If you watch it you will see a smooth motion until he gets roughly to center, then it just locks and he starts moving his torso to compensate. This little quirk continued through the fourth quarter, and ultimately to the safety. Which leads me to point out that someone else saw it too. OU not only blitzed Sam’s right side. They made sure to bring it from as far out as they could and still have time to get to Sam, while trying to find a blind spot in his peripheral vision. The defender held off until Sam turned his head to his left, once he did he never looked back to his right and was screwed. I believe healthy he would have picked it up.
  18. The skinny was apparently someone got in Herman’s ear that opposing teams were basically stealing signs so to speak. That in certain down and distance situations Texas had become predictable (hence tendencies). Whether there is truth to that is above my pay grade. But Riley was sure quick to voice his displeasure with the announcement that Herman had reached out to Beatty. And hid it behind the passive aggressive remark that “well, it isn’t against the rules”. And why in my earlier post I stated that both teams appeared to being doing everything they could to not repeat a sequence they may have used previously. Which led to both teams being out of sorts to a degree.
  19. Lutz. Maybe you can change my mind if we ever see Tua play in the fourth Quarter of a game. He (along with ESPN) built his entire reputation on the 2-26 pass last year. And ran up some really good numbers this year, that Hurts too would have complied had he had the opportunity. Against the same competition Alabama faced this year. So I’m sorry man I just don’t agree that he has separated himself from a guy who not only had to play in every game, the entire game, or his team loses. While also carrying the load of one of the shittest defenses in college football.
  20. The guy who just won the game for them would be one.
  21. Well I wouldn’t think it would be Tua. Injury or not you can’t get pulled and win the very award that was established for if you don’t play your team doesn’t win. And Apparently many believe he isn’t even the best QB at Alabama?
  22. Jesus, how do even tell how good Clemson really is? Say what you want about the Big 12, but at least our shitty teams put up a fight.
  23. Like when they played in 2014. I’m not saying OU beats them, I’m just saying OU has beaten Alabama more times this century then Georgia has. And played almost as many times.
