  1. WW II movies with Jim Brown. It looked ridiculous then, and it still looks ridiculous. Though as Eddie Murphy pointed out he should have been credited with an additional 190 yards for the grenade scene in The Dirty Dozen.
  2. And there you have it! A perfect explanation of the situation.
  3. I agree with all of this. We had a lame duck commissioner who for whatever reason couldn’t calm everyone down. The presidents of the universities that left got caught up in believing they were somehow in no man’s land when nothing could have been further from the truth. Or like you say simply dumb and greedy. Whatever the reason it hurt all of them long term. And once again it proves that good executives are worth every penny of their salaries regardless what some people say. Had we had leadership, AND admitted TCU and West Virginia into the Big 12. We would be at the very least equal to the SEC. and Nebraska, Colorado and Missouri would still be able to recruit Texas. Which I don’t give a shit what they say, they miss. At the same time it would have minimized the SEC foot print into the state (fucking aggy) for recruiting that they now enjoy. And one could argue that with such an arrangement we would essentially have cut the eastern, as well as the midwestern portion of the country in half. And it would be the Big 12 that would be the one encroaching into the SEC and Big 10 recruiting grounds. Rather then they into ours.
  4. Hell or High water. I really liked Chris Pine and his brother (sorry I forgot his name) interaction. Though filmed in eastern New Mexico (around Alamogordo I believe) it allowed the viewer to feel the desperation and poverty that exists in many parts of West Texas showing all of its barren glory. And though the storyline was contrived, as getting someone to front you $43,000 knowing you were about to start pumping 2000 barrels a month of oil off of your property would be a far (and obviously safer route) then robbing banks.
  5. You mean like an actual big guy that doesn’t have a girly body. You know like the original material called for.
  6. That is the most awesome thing I have ever seen. And it shows why no blue blood will ever hire him. He is the definition of refusing to toe the line. He does it his way, and I love it.
  7. Actually he made a solid point, and it obviously went against the corporate agenda based on the looks he received from Reece, Joey and Pollock when he said it. Simply put, he pointed out that if one feels that the metric of having a great defense based on statistics is a requirement. And then applies those numbers to say that on paper LSU is X amount of points better then ou. Then by the same metric you must also recognize the rarified air that ou is putting up offensively. Numbers that if they hold up will be the highest ever recorded in college football history. And then the logic becomes LSU’s offense sucks so they shouldn’t be in. Basiclly he addressed the elephant in the room. That it is easy to pick the numbers that support your case. Yes you can beat up ou for their shit defense. But then you should also beat up the teams that have the suck for offense. And his closing comment was definitely on point with “you only have to have one more point then the other guy to win. Whether that is 21-20 or 49-50”. I thought it was something that should be pointed out.
  8. Ross is an idiot. Going west would kill Texas viewer numbers on the East Coast. Scheduling 10:45 starting times for a marquee match up after all of the east and Midwest games have wrapped up, and their fans have passed out is a bad idea. The only coverage would be ESPN’s football final which airs at midnight EST. Combined with that same little Network who controls both the narrative and pretty much the playoff selection is also located on the east coast means fewer eyeballs from those that matter. They will only see box scores and highlights. Thise just a few of the counter arguments that could be made why Texas should under no circumstances go West. I get it, Ross loves southern cal. But people like me do not. And you’re fool hardy if you think Texas will be able to control that group out West when things get difficult. Regardless of who the commissioner may be. I would be willing to wager that both Colorado and Nebraska would return to the Big12 if such an opportunity presented itself. Their experience has been soured by not having a natural rival, and not being a good fit. And that doesn’t even take into account how fucking bad their football has been since they left.
  9. Earlier in the thread I had asked the board the question of building the best stocked home bar. And though I spent far more then I should have I now have a nicely stocked bar that I believe can accommodate almost anyone’s pallet. Unfortunately the side effect of this adventure has been that I have turned into a damn collector. And really don’t like busting the seal on any expensive bottle unless I have two. I treat the damn bottles like they are Fabrege’ eggs. And don’t have enough years in front of me to drink it all. But now that I am bitten by the collector bug and my ass is constantly out hunting anything you guys post that I either don’t have, or have never seen. This is not how I thought my retirement would go. Collecting is a bad habit. You don’t even enjoy the very thing the interested you in the first place. Finding it has replaced drinking it.
  10. Rob Mullen’s is a puppet. If you look careful you can see the SEC’s arm up his ass moving his mouth. This entire process is currupt.
  11. Another travesty. Michigan dismantled them.
  12. Yeah, that is some gratuitous ranking right there. The committee awarded them points on failing to score a single fucking point against Bama? I would argue that every other team in the top 20 could score a fucking point against Alabama. Maybe only a field goal, but they would score. They have no business in the top 10.
  13. No one in this conference has a pass rush. Those that have tried through various means have gotten burned. It is nature of what is currently being run, and run well in the Big 12. The accumulation of the additional plays just further exacerbates the fatigue teams are experiencing not having the numbers to substitute. For reference name me one D-line man in the Big 12 that gets, or more importantly demands a double team? The answer is there isn’t one, not a single defensive player that gets doubled up. Compared to someone like Clemson where you have arguably two that could a problem on a single team, we don’t gave one in the entire conference.
  14. In this conference? You want the ball at any cost to start the second half if you can get it.
  15. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but Sam’s QBR would be higher if Sam played the teams Lawrence has faced. Every team in the Big 12 is designed to defend the pass, and must do it against pretty good QB’s every week. Admittedly some do it better then others, but the schemes are predicated on stopping the opposing team from gouging them through the air first. Against the ACC, combined with his ability to run, I believe Sam would look like a legitimate draft pick.
  16. There is something very wrong with this entire situation. I believe there is far more to be learned from the last couple of years of Urban’s staff.
  17. I happen to be one who doesn’t think the SC job is really all that great. Maybe 30 years ago, but not now. Living there is a pain in the ass, and I sure as hell wouldn’t want to raise my kids there. And there are enough examples of athletes, celebrities and business leaders who feel the same way. They just earn enough to be able to afford to maintain their primary residence out of state, and go to Cali only for the work. Hell, with the state income tax being what it is. You would have to have a financial planner run the numbers before you would even know if the raise you just got is really all that much more. So though SC is a blue blood. It applies only to football. There are far to many other universities that you can still win a title with, and enjoy the benefits of living there as well.
  18. I’m an old man now. Ain’t much time left, but there are three things that made life worth living. First, hitting your first home run. A life changer for sure. It makes a young boy feel like a king as he rounds the bases, especially third and he sees home plate for the first time. Only after does the boy realize how awkward he did it because he never thought about what to do after hitting the home run. Second is bringing in a large game fish. It don’t have to be Marlin, just big and hard to get in the boat. Something primordial satisfying about beating such a wonderful animal in their own environment. And lastly, and to the point of this thread. The perfectly hit long iron. Preferably in the 180 to 200 yard range. A swing where you can’t quite remember how you pulled it off afterwards. A swing where you stayed within yourself and were able to coordinate your body to release the club head at the perfect time. To catch it dead in the screws as they say. The feeling of how effortlessly such a perfect swing produces not only a perfect flight of the ball. But the trance you fall into watching it track towards the target. Then seeing confirmation when it hits the green bounces once, maybe twice and checks like it had Benbo brakes stopping but a few feet from the flag. Very few of us hit such shots like that frequently, and that is what makes those shots, as well as the game of golf super special.
  19. Bushwood country club. Tell em Ham sent you. And grab a hat in the pro shop. It’ll look good on you.
  20. Sadly every fucking time this question is asked, regardless of by whom. Buddy gets left off. It is an indictment of those who simply throw a popular name out, which is probably a very good drummer. But not necessarily in the top 5 for ability or technique, and isn’t close to Buddy. Christ Dan Patrick’s constant raving that Bonham is the greatest is second to none, an opinion he based completely on how “hard” he hit the drums. That take is painful as fuck to hear over and over. And his little crew just nod in approval. I’ve called into the show twice to remind him that he is confusing the fact that Bomham was just one (of a number of drummers) who had the resources to mic each and every part of their kit in those early years. A practice that would become commonplace after 77. So yeah Dan it was fucking loud.
  21. Fuck it, lock this thread. Posting that shit off of Twitter on here just makes it worse. If something from a legitimate news source addresses it then fine start a new thread supported by facts. But not to provide the raving cry of a lunatic more bandwidth.
  22. Am I incorrect that Twitter has a policy about this very thing? This stuff should be pulled as soon as a mod sees it.
  23. I don’t buy any of this. We don’t even know if the account is legitimate. But I’m going to be pretty fucking disappointed if some asshole asks Tom Herman about this in a public forum without giving him a heads up its coming. Man, that’s ratfucking 101. Make up a story on someone, then ask about it while cameras are on?
  24. That is why the crazy fucker is unhinged. He is toxic and no one will touch him. He burned through what cash they gave him to go away. And he is still a young guy with a fucked rep and nothing to fall back on.
