There is no pattern when it happens every time.

Fucking wide receiver displays Brady like touch. What the fuck.
-
Tech QB looks like Rick James.
-
Fucking Gundy has brass is all I can say.
-
I think Frost is eventually going to have a good football team. And I believe the fucker can coach far beyond the X’s and O’s. But he caught a bad break to start the season not getting to bludgeon a patsy. Im impressed by the resolve they have shown to keep going at it. That is really hard to do. Next year should be entertaining for the Corn.

It doesn’t, nor does anyone else who watches this stuff see it that way. What he really saying is that the university you would have liked to have attended, is going to lose to the one that you had to attend. I believe this is one of those times they are allowed to go off script. As Herb’s “pick” on this particular game is more about his own feelings or perhaps agenda. He has shown this bias time and again about The University of Texas, and I also believe it has nothing to do with football.

So it appears that Bobby is pretty much just collecting a paycheck at this point? Even in bad years the guy usually had a workable offense. But this Louisville team has completely checked out.
-
I wonder if Cam is aware of how fucking goofy he looks in those post game costumes? Hell, I encourage one to express oneself and be daring enough to attempt to start an entirely new trend. But sometimes perhaps you should maybe take a step back and ask a friend “hey man, this shit look fucked up?” His ability to go Michael Stipe/Ozzy/Paula Abdul/and pimp master P...all at the same time is impressive. It just looks goofy.

Well shit man, you left out both ESPN and the committees two most important determining elements......The Eye Test and The Body of Work! You see, those in charge have an enhanced sense of the visual. A trait that us common folk neither have nor understand. One can however achieve this heightened sense of the visual when given large amounts of cash, and or are corrupt by a hidden agendas. So forget about things like Auburn kicking both Alabama and Georgia’s ass (regular season game) last year. And then Auburn getting their asses handed to them by of all people a team that the committee deemed totally unfit for consideration of playoff contention as their FTTS (Fuck Them To Small) score said such a result did not fall into the mean.....UCF. If they had allowed UCF to compete and the unimaginable were to have happened. And UCF would have....dare I say....beaten them. We would have had a shitstorm on our hands trying to sell this load of shit we call a selection committee going forward. Instead the committee prefers to cherry pick playoff teams by conference affiliation using TET (the eye test) and BOW (body of Work) simply because the general public simply doesn’t understand the principals of controlling the narrative. It should be noted however that possession of this enhanced sense has side effects. Traits like honesty, fair play and morality can be somewhat dulled by the influx of large amounts of said cash into the equation when acquiring AET (advanced eye test). This enables the committee chair to publicly announce with a straight face (on ESPN no less) why a undefeated team failed to break into the top 6 after going on a 21 game winning streak. Therefore is ineligible to compete in a playoff scenario. As it is beyond the realm of possibility that those phag’s could possibly beat one of our teams because their regular season schedule didn’t have any of our guys on it. You know, because our guys ain’t crazy and don’t like scheduling those guys. cuz who wants to schedule a team that can put six fucking guys on NFL rosters in a single year...fuck that, we could lose.

Not if Geddy told the truth. He took the soap box on that very issue on R40. And specifically mentioned that all three were more then financially solvent and didn’t need the money. And that when they started the bad they agreed that things like song royalties, when and where to tour, etc were always to be shared. And that any direction the band would take would always be a unanimous decision.including to dissolve if one of the three said they had, had enough. Something they faced when Neil’s wife passed. Now I am aware things change. But to tour under the name Rush would make me think a little less of a band that I have been a huge fan of since the early 70’s. The caveat is trademark. It is now a very real thing to lose that if the band stops being a band. And discontinues production of music or stops touring. That may give the three pause to do a show here or there to prevent any other entity from using their shit.

Only college campus I have ever been to (except aggy, but we have a thread on them dumb fucks) where the only talent was cheering, and they weren’t that great. Had it not been for the visitors bringing some in, that part of the trip is a total waste. And it made the bus ride in, which you will have to make unless you VIP. That much worse with some solid (and I mean fucking solid heifers) type of ladies around you that you will undoubtedly question if they couldn’t beat your defensive tackles running Oklahoma’s. For all of its history it is a very sterile place. More so then the even the desert universities that can’t really do much because of water restrictions and awful heat. The architectecture is Pravda level bad (shit, sort of like aggy but with titles..dejavu). And the grounds look like they just don’t bother with aesthetics, or they simply said fuck it and gave up. Which is sort of fucked up since they basically sit next to a shit load of farmers that should know how to throw a little grass seed down, and plant a couple of fucking bushes. We drove in from Chicago and we thought we were driving ourselves to the fucking Gulag. In fairness I spend most Saturday’s at southern campuses. Not necessarily large ones, but damn, even the little places like Coastal Carolina have some charm. Southbend has none of that. Compared to almost any other university it pretty much sucks. And then there is the Holtz statue. I know he won the 88 title. But with all the shit that went down leading to his eventual dismissal. What possessed them to honor a living man with a fucking statue. Between the Jesse Helms fiasco while at NC State, and the mess at Arkansas. It left those in my group to surmise that it represented their lost hope to ever return to relevance, then it actually did to honor Holtz. Now, the one thing that was actually cool. In one of the gymnasiums adjacent to the stadium is where all of the former graduates set up shop. Each table will be labeled with the graduation year of the group. I was humbled to sit down and talk to a 90 year old man who could share his conversations with Rockne. Not some journalists bullshit, an actual living former player. It was a neat thing to experience. He was a generous, patiant, and he spoke very soft. And he thanked me as I left for taking the time to talk.....got a little dusty in there.

Playing the numbers allows coaches to keep their jobs. Saying to keep your foot on the gas has the same negative result of why go conservative if you lose. You keep throwing it around and a pick six happens giving the opponent momentum. It would become the talking point after the game should you lose. Then everyone calls you a dumb ass because you gave them the additional possessions. In truth it probably really doesn’t matter. Do it either way as long as you win, and no one of any importance will give a shit.

As you failed to offer your credentials it would be foolish to debate this in the time tested methods of the internet, because you know we all have google and we all know how these type of posts turn out. My post was a spur of the moment based on my own experience, and after just finishing rewatching the Tech ou game and seeing this thread. But I can’t help but laugh that you didn’t realize you “somewhat” contradicted your yourself, don’t you? My 30 days is not from medical practice, but your 6 weeks is, geez dude. However until you prove that you have better credentials then I......fuck you.....I stand by what I posted.

If what I originally read is in fact true. And that Bowman suffered a Thorax event prior to the ou game. Allowing him to compete in that game was borderline negligence as far as I am concerned. The possibility of blood clots alone should have required a minimum 30 day observation period. Followed by an compulsory MRI of both the lung and surrounding tissue areas before allowing him to return to any activity that would apply moderate to extreme stress to his Thorax area. It’s folly to think that the young man fully healed to a safe enough level to return to such an activity as football in such a short time. Not to mention watching him drop to his knee prior to the start of the second half after attempting to throw the ball was incredibly disconcerting.

2018 Football Season Game Prediction Contest Game 10 - Texas Tech

I’m sorry, I don’t think it really matters. It is ridiculous to believe that college football is a level playing field and coaching is what separates the top teams. It’s players first and foremost. And how they are getting them, and or cycling the ones that don’t work out to get new ones. Sure, good coaching can win you games. But not compete for a title year after year. When your opponents appear to always be 2 deep at every position. it makes it pretty fucking difficult to compete against them. There is a reason all of the Big12 teams appear to have some type of flaw. It is because they all do. A single key injury can sink a Big12 team. And we all seem to either have either a good defense or a good offense, but seldom both. We all get 85 scholarships but how other schools honor them is far different then how our conference runs business. When a school is capable of placing 5 to 7 players in the NFL draft almost every year, most of which make rosters, something is bullshit. That isn’t just coaching, that is having a talent to begin with.

I’m a get off my grass guy. And would never approve of changing anything about our uni’s except the occasional color shift, number height, etc. Those subtle changes I understand. And I think the same should be said of all the helmet schools. The Oregon thing on the other hand was Phil Knight finally achieving the financial power to do something to create awareness for a program few east of the Rockies even knew exsisted. And quite frankly they have been pretty fucking entertaining even though sometimes they go way to far (see their basketball court floor for an example of this). So for smaller schools who could benefit from such a move more power to them. Though the chrome helmet thing always reminds me of “Flash....duh duh Gordon”.....

I just wonder what the fuck goes through his head? His ego tells you he would fire a bitch in a second to get what he wants. Yet here we are, waiting yet again for a competitive team. Proving the definition of insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different result. Fucking amazing.

Funny. This generation of coaches are enjoying the fruits of yesteryears efforts. I can still remember Bear doing that cheesy Sunday TV show hawking shitty potato chips and demonstrating how difficult it was coaching versus being an analyst. Because he was never very good at talking the talk about how he did things. Having their own TV show was at the time one of the few ways in which to increase coaches salaries. And even running into him on occasion at breakfast spots around the Birmingham and Jacksonville area. Just sitting there eating with nobody bothering him other then to say hello as they walked by. You just don’t see that these days. They have become more rock star then regular people.

Let me help you out with your conundrum. Wealth, one is perceived as having it, one is known to have not. Which is pretty fucked up when you think about it. Though the university may in fact be well off. I know some Texas grads that have had a pretty hard time in life. So it’s like guilt by association.

The play before Sam "didn't get" the first down
Hamttx replied to Rockethorn1978's topic in Football
Sam losing his helmet gave the ref’s pretty much Carte Blanche to spot it along a wide area. If what the announcers claimed is true (fuck it, I ain’t looking it up) that the play is dead when a player loses his helmet. They could pretty much put it anywhere they fucking wanted to. And if you can stomach to watch it again. Pay attention to when the two line judges converge at the mark, they are about a yard apart in their opinion as to the proper spot. Had they gone with the other guy it would have been a conversion. From the camera angles we were shown there was no way to determine exactly when Sam’s helmet actually came off. So it came down to where those to ref’s met at center. -
I don’t believe so. Rumor in these parts was Bob moved Brent down to these parts for reasons other then making room for his brother, and that was just the cover story to clean everything up. And though it has worked out well for Brent, many down in these parts believe there is something to it. Because if you pay attention you never hear his name mentioned any more. Yet his resume is that of someone that should have already been given an opportunity to be a head coach. Hell he already has a ring, and coached in four title games including beating Alabama. That is as good or better then Pruitt, Mullen or Smart all of which had a similar body of work.

Damn Mike, I read your responses all the time. And they always appear well thought out. But, in this case I believe you may have missed my point. I wasn’t advocating any particular system as much as I was simply throwing something out calling for fair play. I’m open to anything, even going back to the old bowl tie ins if need be, rather then this slight of hand shit. And a disclaimer: I like Pappy very, very much. And probably shouldn’t start a thread at 1:00 am after consuming it.

Gooner? Nah. Riley got his job done, albeit it required 4 quarters. Ain’t no one shut his ass down for 4. And their defense is a fucking sieve that you and I could score on. That game had little to do with two coaches playing mental chess. One just has a better scheme on one side of the ball, the other simply has better players on the other. Had Texas held the 21 point lead they built/enjoyed in the first 3 quarters I would wholeheartedly agree.
