  1. Ref’s miss em all the time. Either get better at selling it, or don’t allow it to happen. Take your pick.
  2. Vegas boys ain’t doing it right. Should have posted aggy at 10000/1. Numbers confuse aggy.
  3. Uh, you do realize that Gundy shutdown his own team, right? It is why he gets criticized so harshly. Had he continued to step on the gas with up tempo he could have iced the game doing the very thing that got them the big lead in the first place. Instead he slows everything down trying to protect the score and burn clock which took away his teams advantage and subsequently allowed Texas time to mount a comeback. There is a reason he never gets any love as a great mind, this is one of many examples.
  4. Pregame preparation is flawed. Herman allows his teams far too much emotion, and far too little time being cerebral about executing ones responsibilities. That Rah Rah shit has its place. It works out when things go their way off the bat. If not, one can literally see the air come out of them. Then it takes time to regroup and play as a disciplined unit. Emotion can be both good and bad thing. But playing off of it to start a game is a crap shoot.
  5. He may be a great guy. But if you believe that he should be a defensive starter at a blue chip school like Texas I think you’re viewing it through very, very Orange glasses. He makes an occasional play, but isn’t feared by any offense. Throw in his showmanship and you start seeing nothing much more then a legacy kid. The Willis Reed arm thing last night was just another example. He is not terrible, but he isn’t a starter either. At best he should get a few snaps as a back up to keep a legitimate player fresh. He is owed that much because of his old man.
  6. I disagree. I stated on the record that Texas should be a 10 win team long before the season started. I simply made the mistake of not factoring in Herman’s continued practice of dropping a game where he has superiority at 18 of the 22 positions on the field. There was no one on the schedule that was a guaranteed loss. Tough game? Sure, but not a for sure 100% loss.
  7. Actually, this was a prime example of Herman’s legacy up to this point. Beat a quality team, then drop a WTF effort. He has done this a number of times during his career. Though in fairness it is still a small sample size. You can pick apart this one game play by play if it makes you feel better. But in the end it is just another example of Herman’s biggest flaw. And that is losing a game when you have better players.
  8. I’m not sure football guys agree. Riley is doing some really innovative shit that is getting serious attention throughout college and the NFL. He has proven himself to be quite the politician. Nor has he made enemies during his climb. Not to mention that the money people at the stops he has left hold little if any grudge. And to many peoples surprise he appears to be a huge upgrade on Bob. To those that matter the second youngest coach in the business came within a play of playing for a national title in his first year. And has continued to demonstrate that his scheme is flexible and can score on anyone. Including hanging almost a half a hundred on a vaunted SEC defense. Giving the DC job to his mentor and friend Ruffin is going to shape their defense up. They will be an improved unit going forward including a potential rematch with Texas ala’ round II. But, to your point. What ou fans should start worrying about is that the NFL guys are already throwing his name around talking seriously about him. You don’t get that type of attention being a fraud. And beating them now is going to be a little more difficult for anyone they play.
  9. I didn’t see this result coming. Beatty is dead meat, but this win makes him a solid 3-33.
  10. Yeah, but it isn’t received well. Even when I played, which was a long fucking time ago. You stand down once a team goes victory formation. Regardless of your passion, your peers will think your just a dick. Even NFL guys don’t violate that formation.
  11. Let’s face it, it’s Kentucky. Until we actually see them win games like these it is almost impossible to believe they can.
  12. Solid post right there.
  13. The entire premise of the show is to simply feed the fan bases something to talk about until kick off. And fucking with Texas has been their MO for years, it shouldn’t surprise anyone.
  14. Uh, you could pretty much say the same thing about half the teams in the top 25.
  15. Why do so many give a shit about revenue stream? Y’all on the payroll or something? Ain’t a chance in hell that Texas is going to lose money.
  16. The Domers have found a QB. They will be tough to beat.
  17. It’s the pitfalls of independence. There is a reason conference teams plan their schedules the way they do. Especially the bye weeks. BYU has no such luxury. They are forced to take games when they can get them. And why those on here who scream independence are crazy as hell. Ask yourself what their record would be if they played the exact same teams, in the exact same order as Alabama?
  18. If you are comfortable doing some of the work. Shipping containers are the way to go. Especially since they are stackable. And come in 40’, 45’ and 53’. Obviously if your needs require it to be in a remote location the cost would offset any value of using the container. If not, they can be had cheap. Easy to work on, or modify.
  19. Pure bravado. One need look no farther then what MSU did to that same KSU team. Tulsa? Maryland?. I hate SEC as much as anyone, but their Achilles heel is offense chief. With a Texas team unable to stretch any offense 3 of 4 is bullshit.
  20. If you’re willing to read it, here goes. Short background. These were both failed landings at the Garrett Aireserch facility in Augusta’s Bush field (the only other facility was in Phoenix) on 1978. During that time those airframes with the TFE 731 and/or TPE 331 power plants were required to be brought in every 100 hours and gone through. Almost all of the customers were from central and or South America. You can do a quick google search and see what aircraft were equipped with these power plants. The attention of detail given to these aircraft during those scheduled maintenance programs when witnessed by even a casual observer, was to be honest, impressive. We even fabricated a test truck out of a 3500 GMC that allowed us to mount, test and validate engine performance prior to remounting on the aircraft. Basically a portable dyno. The staff at that time was close to 100% former A/P guys from the Navy and Airforce. There were also (3) F4 pilots who also worked there and would sit in the copilots seat and verify the aircrafts performance prior to its return to its owner. Notice I said sit, not fly. They also did a lot of shuttle flying of Garretts own aircraft for the obviously high end clientele that owned these types of aircraft. On the two flights I joked about upon (because I lived through them) occurred on runway 3. This is the runway that runs purpendicular to the main highway, and is know for occasional wind shear Alerts’s during late humid summer afternoons. Traffic control was still managed on site in the airport tower (it was shortly thereafter moved to Savannah). On both occasions the contracted pilots were executing their approach, everything looked good. We had three in the green and attitude, airspeed, everything good until we crossed the outer markers. It was then we felt a “push”. Followed by the aircraft feeling as if it simply lost its airspeed and stalled, and the landing gear made hard contact against the gravel and concrete pliers that made up the leading edge of the tarmac. Here is the leave it in the deck part: when the possibility of: best case (all the wheels, struts, are gone, but hydraulic fluid and tank fuel can be bussed close) allowing the pilot to attempt a belly to bring it to a stop. Obvious problem is the fuel. Without a dump you are dealing with a possible fire. Vs the worst case: partial gear on one side or nose gear inoperable, struts torn and partially imbedded into the fuselage (more of a problem on the Lear then the Mitz) loss of hydraulic fluid that is pumping out on to the surface of a hot airframe. And no way to determine fuel line ruptures, avionic failure, flaps, etc. And now you are back in the air. You leave it on the fucking ground. This was by the way the findings of the ensuing investigation on both mishaps. What actually happened is on both occasions both pilots pulled them back in the air. Not having any knowledge of the severity of the damage, including whether they would even fly at that point. The tower requested a fly by to try and attempt to evaluate what was hanging off, leaking from, etc. now, things may be different now. But in those days the guys fixing em, or employed by the company, even as pilots couldn’t touch the stick. Which was a big problem to us. Because we had a shit load more faith with the cat sitting in the copilot seat, who was one retired Capt. Benjamin Owen. Who had flown F4’s in Vietnam for two years. And had at least several thousand hours on the same aircraft we were in. Far more then the contractors who were at the controls. The point of the most anxiety came after we did the flyby in the MU2. Looking at a dozen guys in white shirts and ties looking back at us. They radio us and state. Micro Alpha 281, you do not have left landing gear, repeat left gear is missing..a slight pause and then Good Luck. As we banked we saw the fire teams putting jelly across the runway. I’m talking huge tanker trucks shooting that foaming shit everywhere. Benjemin looked straight at the pilot and gave him his options. As we flew around Augusta planning the next move and going over everything step by step we stayed over the swamp in case she just dropped. When we made the final approach we dumped the fuel, alarms went off. Emergency lighting triggered and we hit actually hit pretty soft. The problem was that the struts from the damaged gear grabbed the tarmac and shoved them up through their mounts into the hydraulic lines and electrical systems. And it spun the fucker like a top. Right tip tank jettisoned, fuselage broke, but stayed together. The spinning took us about 200’ off the runway into the adjacent field. Where all four of us walked away. It was a hell of a ride. And as I had been flying since 1962, it was the first time I experienced a controlled crash.

    Retiring on a ship.

Im very impressed by this. The closest I have ever got to trying something this bold was hitchhiking from Damascus to Jerusalem in 74. However, going to sea is an entirely different animal. I have a friend who did something on a much smaller scale. And we would debate for hours on the ethics of carrying firearms. He claimed he never did as maritime law. I told him I would never go without them. At a minimum a large caliber handgun, and a fully automatic rifle would have to be on board before I would consider being in international waters.
  22. Turnovers and big plays. Whomever makes less of the former, and more of the latter wins......Been that way more often than not in my 60 years of watching it. All the match up analysis gets skewed in this game. From that shitty Blake team knocking out a far better Texas team, to Herp-a-Derp kicking ou’s ass when they had a far better team. Match ups are deceiving in this one particular game. And most of the time the winning team has a signature play.
