  1. I watched most of the reply of the ou mess. I’m doimg this from memory, but the time of possession for ou was roughly 8:30 during regulation. Their scoring drives were crazy fast like 1:30, 2:30, 2:30, and a failed 4th and 1 that would have iced the game was less then a minute (recovered a batted down pass). Army completely controlled the game and the clock, and should have won in regulation. But apparently they do not have a kicker as their coach made an odd decision and elected to go for it rather then kick a field goal. ou is a good offensive team. With a solid scheme and some solid receivers. But Stoops’ defense is really a bad unit. How he still manages a check is far more impressive then his coaching skills. But they ain’t a top ten team, and it is not even close.
  2. Hold the fucking phone. Because you know the AD your something special? Uh, hate to break it to some of you, but there are at least three on this site that I know of who know the AD pretty well. That doesn’t mean they know anything about football. And it sure as hell doesn’t qualify them to have anything more then an opinion on the progression of a collegiate QB. But, you don’t have to know too much to see that Sam did a great job of securing the football. And made some really nice throws against a defense that came into DKR thinking that the task at hand would be relatively easier than what it actually turned out to be.

I still don’t understand his pregame comments? Why would a coach single out an opposing teams player? Especially at the collegiate leveI? In truth I really don’t know much about him. But he can’t be so fucking stupid to not know that for all of his success against Texas since entering the Big12. It came to him on a platter against some of the statistically worst Texas teams in history? That doesn’t make you great, that makes you lucky.
  4. It does seem to be following his career MO. Few will argue that he had shown that he was fully capable of assembling a quality team. It also has shown those nagging WTF loses that would crop up during a campaign. And here is what will rip your heart out. Let’s suppose Texas beats the shit out of every remaining team on he schedule by 20 points? That Maryland loss would in effect lay waste to what would otherwise be an indisputable playoff invite. For all of that great football to be played, only to be left out of the festivities by a committee that will use that opening day loss against Texas. ESPN is essentially painting that exact scenario with its OP on the playoff selection process in their post game page.
  5. Strange how shit works out. If Texas wins out, the playoff committee would look at that Maryland loss and use it against Texas to put the loser of the SEC (which is looking to be Al and Ga) championship game in. Because you know, SEC and all that. Which would be frustrating as hell.
  6. Yeah, I sort of wish they would have won today. Mostly because I’m superstitious and shit. Because of their inept play I can already see their game plan. Play conservative, burn clock to try and shorten the game. And hope they get a try for the win at the end.
  7. That’s a salty Army squad. Finally wrestled the CIC trophy away from Navy last year for the first time in forever. And the Woolfolk kid will make a fine officer......from the real cadet Corp.
  8. It’s a Mike Stoops defense, it’s nothing but chinks (no racist). There ain’t no armor.
  9. Yeah, the looked much different once Robinson took off.
  10. TCU is a different offense with Robinson running. Unless this is just an anomaly, his arm is nothing to fear.
  11. They will regret not going for two.
  12. TCU is concerned. They were holding Robinson from running. Paterson knows he needs points before the half.
  13. That’s the confidence that is missing from this team. It’s just not there yet.
  14. The call itself isn’t bad, the executing of it sucked. Standard call for a Wishbone team.
  15. Actually, I believe in odds. So Dicker missing this one in the beginning of the game, means he nails the game winner at the end of the game.
  16. Enough of this shit, over to the game.
  17. Any success by aggy is tied to Mond. If he can throw for a high percentage aggy will hang around. If not they will get smoked.
  18. Though I agree with the spirt of the rule. I’m in no way a proponent of the rules application.
  19. Annnd here comes that rule book I just spoke about.....
  20. Shiiit, keep an eye on the officiating. It gets to close you will see the Birmingham version of the rule book.
  21. I’d like to kill that Jamie from progressive.
  22. Wow the hyperbole is so fucking over the top.
  23. PAC officiating is/was/always has been slightly skewed. Why people notice their officials on a far more frequent basis then any other conference is interesting. Not just because they fuck up, they do. But so do all of the others as well. But damned if during almost every game there is inevitably a call that catches fans off guard with a WTF was that?
  24. Ironically, for those of us who traveled the old Big 8 schedule and spoke with people for over 30 years will see a number of similarities between how Tom did things. And how Saban does things. College football isn’t an exact science. The ability to quietly jettison players who don’t pan out. While at the same time staying within the scholarship guidelines is a huge advantage. No one is so fucking good at player evaluation that they never miss on a high profile high school kid. Far to many examples out there that show that many times it isn’t just the sport that hurts the kid. It’s the psychology of adjustment to the life of being self motivated, hungry, and accountable. And for the first time in their lives they are competing against other players who are just as good. That breaks a lot of young men down who just were not ready to be on their own. I know I have two of them that absolutely struggled to get playing time. And I know how hard they fucking worked. Those were hard phone calls to take at 3 in the morning after they spent their entire lives being the man.
