  1. I have always been in the camp of playing those dumb fucks. We pretty much have their number. So we have never had to go to long without payback (FEd-Ex years excluded). And yes I have heard all of the arguments about fuck them they left. But, to me beating their ass was never really an issue. It took a tragedy, and a benevolent Texas head coach for aggy to even sneak a win. Not to mention they, both the school and the fan base, chose to act like a pack of dicks when Texas extended an olive branch during a difficult time. I hate to admit it, but watching that group wonder around mumbling like they have rocks in their mouths after losing to Texas is a shit load of enjoyment for me.
  2. Ha, ha, after Georgia’s loss, guess the first thing that hit the local sports talk shows this morning? Hawaii’s birth certificates. Wondering out loud how old is the kid who hit the HR.
  3. Phil trying to get those * off off of his majors that Tiger didn’t play in. Lumpy may have a round or two left in him. But stretch him out and he will break down. The auto-immune disease he is forced to deal with is now a much bigger factor (anchor) then it was just 2 or 3 years ago. The impact it has on ones stamina is impossible to overcome.
  4. No offense but you’re wrong. I am one of those that think hitting it long is by far the easiest way to score at Augusta because of the simple reason it allows you to hit a lofted club into the holes that typically sink players. I would gladly go holeby hole, but no one wants to read that. Most players get in trouble there because though they hit the green, they hit the wrong fucking side because they were forced to hit their approach with a mid to long iron. Anything other that a true golf shot very well may land on the green, but so fucking what. Undulations that can be measured in feet, and are super fast, with breaks measured in double digit break make most look silly. You must hit the correct location of the green! In full disclosure I have played the National well over +50 Times going back to 1975. From the days I carried a 3 to my current 12 handicap. Many times shortly after the tournament. And though the greens had settled down from the tournament setup running +12 on the stimpmeter, they still ran quick as fuck. Evening going back to the early days before the sub-air, Tift 31, and immaculate grooming. Length off of the tee is so fucking important for two simple reasons. But hell, don’t take my word for it. Pull up every scoring record since its inception and look at what the player who set a scoring record scored on the par fives. Tigers record shows the most discrepancy. He wasn’t much off of par on the 4’s, but he obliterated the 5’s. While he was putting for eagles the rest of the field were settling for a birdie. And why he lapped the field, averaging 341 yards off the tee. However the most obvious advantage today’s longer hitter gets to enjoy (besides the putting for eagles on the 5’s.) is the competitor that can keep his +340 drive where they mow on a 500 yard par 4 has given themselves the huge advantage of hitting a 9 or wedge into the par 4’s (like Brooks was doing at the PGA). Offsetting the courses primary defense design that Jones and McCalister built into it. They knew that very few (if any in any era up until the wound and or Balatta ball) could hit the correct tier and quadrant with a long iron back in those days (it is still fucking hard to do). But with the 45” shaft driver, the solid core ball, and the more athletic player hitting the +320 drives naybe has not neutralized this once solid defensive measure. But brought much more of the field into play. The National’s secondary defense rests on a player being able to hit both a left to right AND a right to left shaped shot. But Brooks just won a major that didn’t have a SINGLE dog leg right. He was so solid he shaped his preferred shot shape perfectly on almost every dog leg left. An impressive display of skill. And I will give you the very hole that this can easily be a two shot swing almost every time if you can’t hit a draw....10. If you have been there...and walked that hilly bastard you know that if you hit the draw, just an average carry of 260, you will have no more then a 5 maybe 6 iron in your hand for your second because of the extreme lay of the land. And that’s ME! And I’m 60 years old! But hit a fade? And your ass is looking at 3 or some type of utility club. And you better catch that bitch on the screws, off of an unlevel lie, to a green that is ass fast, undulating and enticing you to miss left.....which if you do your fucked. But, I made my original prediction pages back based on Brooks ability to duplicate his driving performance during the PGA. If he doesn’t he will see why Trevino hated the fucking place. And full disclosure I have played the place with Trevino. His fued with the man I will not write about in this Forum because it is against protocol was a shame. I really believe if he would have played those years he very well may have won at least one Masters when you compare him to the eventual winners of that period. So you don’t have to agree with me, as it is just my opinion based on how I see the layout. But it is based on my own experience playing the course as a golfer. Not some fucking observer.
  5. This shit is going to blow up in their faces. The NCAA and its outdated policies and draconian methods of punishing only those that don’t stop the flow of money has reached the end. Allowing a professional into the conversation of the traditional school, player relationship has re-started the process of when does the player become not just a student, but an employee? And do labor laws come into play that protect the player? What about salary, commissions or contracts that could possibly drag the NCAA into court if and when there is a breach by any party? The NCAA should have been torn down years ago. Under their watch they have ruined football. And would have already have killed basketball, but March Madness saved their asses.
  6. One thing I know for sure. The powers that be are going to be burning the midnight oil at the National for the next several months fearing what Brooks may possibly be capable of doing next April. If he averages off the tee what he did during the PGA he will chipping into 6 of the 14 holes after his drive. And will have nothing larger than a fucking 8 iron into all of the par fives. Woods averaged 341 when he won in 1996 and destroyed the course. And strangely the bigger Woods got, the shorter he became off the tee. 310 yards in 1997, and 280 in 2001. So the club felt as if they had “Tigger proofed” the tract enough to protect the courses 90 year history. When in reality Woods simply wasn’t hitting it as long. Now we have a bonafide big hitter in Brooks who can hit it where they mow, with three majors on his resume that is in that rare air of averaging +330. AND is pretty damn accurate. Not to mention he has great touch with his wedges, and putts damn good. No one else in the field sans Dustin Johnson (who has a million dollar power swing, but a 10 cent head) can equal Brook’s combination of power and touch. So I am very much looking forward to the next Masters. And don’t be surprised if we don’t hear a story come out of the blue how Augusta plans some necessary changes. They have already purchased the tract adjacent to Augusta Country Club which would allow them to extend 13 if they so desired. But damn the history that would become irrelevant. Number 8 is stuck in between two holes that would have to be completely reconfigured to accomplish. Can’t do shit to 2 unless they cut it across what was Berckman road. It is going to be a very exciting 2019.
  7. Amanda Bolionas. Diversity followed by tight tops and dumb ass questions. Her best line “what were you trying to accomplish today”? I would absolutely love someone to say “play a little golf and get laid”.
  8. It has been my experience that most of the time a real badass is the man who is able to communicate without talking that he is in fact the more willing, able and ready individual in the disagreement. Size or shape never really had much to do with it. Especially with a lot of gym rats. They believe that their big biceps and ability to bench 300 is intimidating to a smaller man. When in reality that guy who weighs in at 175 and looks like a fucking accountant is more then willing to stab his ass is by far the most dangerous of the two. And for the record Brody played a Merc, and they mist definitely come in many different packages.
  9. Not just that, I knew a shit load of Sargents as a military dependent that coached our baseball and football teams, acted as our father figures while our fathers were deployed, etc. Guys who had zero athletic ability, but were damn good at doing Army shit, and knew how to do their part to keep an army in the field. Paul was a fucking perfect fit for that role.
  10. Better then Hoke? Who fucking knows. What we do know is neither of them could beat OSU ass. Jim just happens to be making twice what Hoke did while losing to their hated rival.
  11. Obviously you are not one of the 1%. They already have their own jet packs.
  12. Wrong..There is nothing hilarious about being accused of actions that fan bases, universities and the coaching community would take issue with. With Herman lawyering up he is taking this accusation very serious. That alone makes it not only real. But him trying to get out front of the story. Now, had he went through proper channels it would look different. But then he too would get hammered for not speaking up years ago. So if he really played a role in any of this his only real option was to use a third party.
  13. I’m with Ghost on this. The faster the better. Herman’s statement was very prepared, but what caught my eye was he was very specific in his assurances that neither he nor his family played a part in this information allowed some ambiguity. The fact that his statement of denial didn’t comprehensively cover any known associate, friend or administrative entity, etc allows him a lot of wiggle room. While at the same time still being truthful. Note: I read the statement as it was posted on ESPN’s homepage. By conveniently not being specific allows him to be technically correct. And we will see if someone takes the time to ask the follow up question. Which is simply did he leave a trail, not actually providing the information, but a heads up if you will to someone indirectly? An easy to follow trail that allowed Brent Mcmurphy (sp?) to follow up on his own, while never knowing the origin of the actual source.
  14. A piece of Hot Wheels Track. My mother could snap a piece of that orange track like a bull whip. And when she would “accidentally” slice into your ass she would blame me for not standing still.
  15. Hogan was right. He predicted that if the rules of golf didn’t address the size of the hole all tournaments would more or less be come glorified putting contests. Green books, along with emergence of the power game and solid ball has allowed the casual fan to believe that those types elements are the deciding factor. But in truth the are not. A perfect example is Simpson winning the TPC. The guy putted lights out, punched way above his weight and saved multiple pars, not by hitting great approach shots. But by making putts in the 20’ range that his ass never fucking makes. We have all played with guys who can shoot 72-75 at our club, and who never seem to find the fairway. Yet get them on the green and they take your fucking money. Same thing applies here. Whichever guy finds a way to putt way beyond his normal number (say average 25 instead of their normal 31) per round will win. And it won’t make a damn how fucking far he hits his drives, proximity to the hole, or his wedge play. The guy who putts best wins most. Now, give DJ Zach Johnson’s putting ability he would win everything.
  16. Meh, from where I sit no one at that shit hole gave two fucks about some guy’s wife. What they DO care about is recruiting. And this guy has the goods, and why Urb’s brought his ass with him. Now, anyone who has worked in a situation where the guys with the real power use their henchmen to do the wet work know two things. First, the guy is good at what he does. And second, he knows all the dirt on all the parties involved. Therefore termination was never an option. At least not without providing him a landing spot. The guy knows where all the bodies are buried for Christ sakes. So the way I see it ol’ Gene’o better get his box because his days are numbered. I’m sure they were burning the midnight oil last night putting together his severance package. Which will be good enough that he can retire wherever he wishes....after he signs his NDA. Urb keeps his job and puts this behind him as he has done throughout his career. And the guy in the crosshairs lays low until the money people can find him a spot same as Tressel. And lastly the wife. If she has some dirt on Urb, she too may be in line for some cash. If not fuck her for bringing this on the school. At the end of the day a MNC may be mythical. But it’s worth millions to the university. They will not term the very guy who brought them one unless they have to. And even then no one knows if anyone at that shit university has enough power to fire him without a prolonged legal battle.
  17. The only thing I find shocking is that anyone is shocked. Urb’s ties with AH alone should tell the average person that character and psychotic behavior are not that high on the list of his recruiting check sheet. And apparently now we find this standard applies to both recruit or coach. He has taken “Just Win Baby” to an entirely new level.
  18. It ain’t great “art”, but I laughed my ass off. SB stole the movie.
  19. I’m 60 years old. And I’m curious if anyone my age ever wondered how oddly quiet Armstrong remained his entire life after returning from that mission? His crew members sure didn’t have any issues talking about it. I’m sure he was never hurt for money. But I was told from a very young age to be weary of any man who talks to much about his accomplishments, but question the accomplishments of any man who never mentions them.
  20. Sorry guys. It was a good series, I will give it that. But top 5 or 10 all time? Not even close. Only if that particular genre is in your wheelhouse. AND you enjoy/allow the rehashing of the Italian Hollywood stereotype that has been beat to death since The Godfather came out was it anything but pretty good. Now, Big G was the real deal. And we lost a fine actor when he passed. But as far as I’m concerned. It was him, and no one else that gave the show life.
  21. If I had to make a guess it is another example of just how good the camera guys employed by our networks really are. They are by far the gold standard in not only locating and tracking a struck golf ball. But doing so while maintaining critical focus through the entire flight of the ball. I am basing this on comments made earlier this week that those currently running the cameras are not our guys. But a collection of UK/EU camera guys who are members in their own union. And have their own classification standard for who gets to work the championship. Im sure the word got out because the camera work is far subpar, even when compared to what we see on the web.com tour coverage. And our guys don’t want the blame.
  22. I agree with the previous poster who feels that the writers got caught by losing their big reveal thunder when Bladerunner 2049, or at least Ghost in the machine made reproduction the POI in both of those movies.. And I feel that way because it sure seems as if they laid everything out for the bots to cross the last line in evolution....reproduction. When they scrambled to create a new aiming point. Losing the significant point of Ford’s grand creation caused the writers to shift gears and in its place we get the cradle/forge or whatever the borg like point they are trying to make. Where we go old school body snatchers 1965 replacing humans with bots. A film old enough that maybe no one will notice that all of this material has already been covered. It’s a shame too because I have really liked what they were doing.
  23. The first time I ever watched his show (and up until that moment had no idea who he was) he was in Havana. And for those who are familiar with how the show flowed, remember that he always did the local scene along with the food angle. Usually to get plastered on some local brew. In that episode he stops by a barber who he had heard was the fucking man with a straight razor. Best shave in Havana he was told. Unfortunately the guy was so absolutely freaked about being on camera he was unable to stop his hands from shaking. Watching AB get literally chopped up from the guys shaking hands was the most incredible thing I had ever seen. When he left the shop he had multiple cuts, bleeding all over his shirt, and wore the cuts with pride. I didn’t see him flinch a single time. And never (at least on camera) spoke a disparaging word about the guy. The most ultimate take it like man situation I have ever seen. If that shit wasn’t a set up he was a fucking bad ass.
  24. Fuck Ohio. But they can lay claim to some of the finest benchrest shooters in the world. As well as some extremely talented engine builders/tuners in everything from top fuel to formula 1.
  25. I believe there is a place for them. Though I (probably like you) still carry a 1911, and have since the 60’s. But I can smith them whereas most people cannot. A complete novice can change/upgrade a Glock with zero training, and a single tool. Barrel change outs, trigger pull, adding ambidextrous safeties, etc, are incredibly easy. Companies like The Glock Store have made this possible. And give Glock credit. They brought a new tech to the marketplace before most others and benefited from that. Though I found their reliability claims somewhat misleading. Now that other manufacturers are using high end poly’s that no longer is the selling point it once was. And if you are unwilling to practice with whatever you do like, does it really matter? The majority of guys I know who carry spend less then an hour a month actually practicing. It amazes me that there are people like that.
