Anytime Novak gets a little momentum or break or anything, Sinner comes right back. No soul searching, no wound licking. Novak gave it all in the 2nd and Sinner had answers. See how it goes from here.
Really was enjoying watching Musetti. Bummer he had to retire. But man, Sinner looks unstoppable. Kinda reminds me of Novak but with more power. Terrifying.
Yeah a friend had some Heresy and I was as into the general vibe. For good measure I went to a hifi shop here in the city and listened to the Fortes. He was driving them with a Lab12 tube amp and it was really nice. He let me listen to some Borreson x1, driven by an insane system, and it was mind blowing - Bookshelf sized speakers and it was literally a wall of sound, but super articulated, analytical. Fun for a little while but also exhaustive listening.
I saw the Master when it first came out in the theaters. I liked it a lot. But over the years I’ve revisited it and it’s highly rewatchable. Some amazing performances and moments in there, obviously led by Hoffman and Phoenix.
Ordered a NAD C 3050 amp and a Wiim Pro Plus streamer. I wanted to do a side by side test with the marantz. Good lord, even with the speaker cracking and cutting out at low levels, the Marantz mops the floor with the NAD. The streamer/dac has made a huge difference though - I’d previously been streaming thru an old Apple TV that had an optical out and used a basic dac from Amazon to get the signal to the marantz. Next up I think I might try to audition some new speakers and see the difference. But the NAD is going back for sure.
Just finished Adolescence. The last episode is so intense. Incredible performance by the parents but especially Stephen Graham. I just assumed that it wasn’t really one take but seamless digital takes stitched together. It’s really impressive. Here’s a link of bts and how they shot each one. Spoilers obviously.
Maybe he doesn’t want to work on it, he deals in higher end stuff. He basically said that the volume control power source is in rough shape and they don’t make them anymore. And that it’s a matter of time before it just goes out and can’t get the parts to repair it. I’m taking it for a second opinion elsewhere. I’ll never sell it, but now I have the itch to upgrade my system. I have a friend who works for Sound United and could get me a new marantz at a discount. I just am not a fan of how the new ones look.
