Paul Chryst is no longer with the Texas football program, a University of Texas spokesman told Inside Texas late Wednesday night. Chryst was a special assistant to head coach Steve Sarkisian during the 2023 season.
Chryst arrived at Texas from Wisconsin after he was let go by the Badgers during the middle of the 2022 campaign. In Madison, Chryst was 67-26 as head coach.
Chryst was recently spotted alongside Texas tight ends coach and special teams coordinator Jeff Banks and offensive coordinator/O-line coach Kyle Flood at an organized team activity for the Green Bay Packers. He was not wearing any Longhorn branded gear, rather simple Under Armour garb.
All three special assistants from the 2023 season have now moved on from the program. Joe Decamillis left to become the special teams coordinator at South Carolina. Payam Saadat joined Jeff Choate at Nevada as the Wolf Pack’s associate head coach and interior defensive line coach.
As a head coach with stops at Wisconsin and Pitt, Chryst was 86-45.
