  1. I have been watching the posts on the Kavanaugh thread as a gauge of Republican excitement over his nomination. The thread is pretty dead with 3 weeks to go. By election day I think the Republicans will lose almost the entire enthusiasm bump that came out of the hearings.
  2. I have to keep reminding myself that the difference between my intellect and an average human is the greater than the difference between an average human and a German Shepherd.
  3. It makes me think our species is stupid.
  4. Wrong. While he is on the record for banning "assault" weapon sales he thinks existing owners should be grandfathered. This would be a good topic for an ad campaign to clarify his position and expose lyin' Ted. My personal take is it is ridiculous to label a rifle as an "assault" rifle because it has a pistol grip. Any semiautomatic rifle above 22lr is roughly the same level of lethality when it comes to mass shootings.
  5. I just got an email from his campaign confirming that it is a record quarter in a senate race.
  6. The Democrats should put legalization initiatives on every state ballot they can in 2020. It is not a winning issue for Republicans.
  7. No PACS are supposed to operated independently. They are staying out as a courtesy except firetedcruz that i know of.
  8. Best quarter ever for a senate candidate based on my limited research.
  9. With that money he needs sone professional ads ASAP.
  10. My guess is Beto is waiting because he knows when he announces he brought in 25 million or more it will trigger a new flood of Republican PAC money.
  11. There are also a couple club memberships and dues that are unnacounted for. I suspect the house will hold hearings to find out who sent all the money and if he failed to disclose taxable gifts or earnings on his taxes. I suspect that if he is removed for cause it will most likely be for tax evasion.
  12. That is still not a "decent amount." I will add that it is nice that after Cruz pulled his bullshit over Jstreet that opensecrets added a column for pac contributions from groups like that. In Beto's case that column is all zeros.
  13. Plants combined with animal herds can allow to more co2 to be sequestered in the soil. Natural sequestration produced by animal herds and plant growth could be more successful than anything else we can try.
  14. What do you mean by decent amount? Per opensecrets he has taken less than $55000 as of the last quarter and most of that was from other candidate's election pacs.
  15. Beto has promised to limit himself to two terms and he does not take PAC money. That is a big difference without even getting into policies.
  16. I will. That is about how long it will take for a Republican to get elected president.
  17. It is fascinating that Republicans botched this nomination about as badly as they possibly could and they are happy about it.
  18. I was just looking at the list of senators that voted for Kavanaugh and half of them will not be in the Senate in January 2023. Over half of those will be due to retirement but a big group will be voted out of office.
  19. That's cargo shorts.
  20. I love living in a place where I can't walk home from a bar or restaurant without having a half dozen or more women walking up to me, smile, and say "I go with you" or something similar.
  21. No, but I didn't want to get into all of those details again.
  22. Women support Democrats by 25 to 30% over Republicans now. The Rebublicans will not win major races in most states as long as that holds, only the whitest of white rural states.
  23. You misspelled best.
  24. 2016 was 59.4% of registered voters and 46.5% of voting age population from the Wikipedia page on the Texas election. For Republicans to win they really need the turnout 60% or less of the 2016 turnout. If it is 65% or more then the Democrats are showing up in big numbers.
  25. There is a young guy on youtube who is trying to be some sort of election expert and he decided to do a Twitter poll on Beto v. Cruz. With over 2000 votes it was 90% Beto. That might give us some idea how the election is trending among the more social media savvy educated voters. I think there is a large undercounted group of younger voters who will impact this election.
