  1. The US could easily have a Democratic president for 16 years or more starting in 2020. After Texas, Georgia, and Arizona turn firmly blue over the next 10 years it is hard to see how the Republicans will win it again. It will take some major changes or major democratic screw up. So there is a chance to have an FDR-like period to stabilize things assuming we ride out the inevitable world depression that is coming.
  2. Wake me up when they explain why the mass of the top quark equals the sum of the masses of the W and Z "particles." I think that the resonance identified as the top quark is not a quark at all. It does appear that the resonances called W, Z, Top, and Higgs are all related. Most likely they share some common composition and structure in order for them to have similarly high masses. I also suspect there are many more high energy resonances in this group.
  3. In the latest NBC/WSJ poll 21% of respondents said they are more likely to vote for a candidate that would support for Pelosi for speaker. 45% would be less likely. House candidates are being put in a position where they must say they will not support her.
  4. He is one of the coolest people I ever met and I loved his shows. My pub friend Kyle who plays with The Sword brought him into the Draught House when he filmed a show in Austin. This is such a tragic loss to humanity.
  5. The latest public policy polling (PPP) poll is very interesting. Yes it starts with Cruz over Beto by 6 points, but after educating the respondents about gun safety issues and their positions that closes to 1 point. Admittedly the poll is written in a biased way, but it still clearly shows that gun safety is a winning issue for democrats in Texas. Note that the poll had 50% Trump and 42% Clinton voters which is close to the 52/43 result. Ppp poll results It clearly shows that this race can be a toss-up once voters learn about the candidate's positions, before considering enthusiasm which is running 63 to 47 nationally favoring Democrats in latest polling.
  6. He is encouraging people to tamper with evidence. It makes it likely he has already tampered with evidence in his own situation.
  7. I find it hilarious that Trump is such a little bitch that he sent Cohen to tell Melania about the Stormy Daniels story. That does leave the possibility that Avenatti could ask Melania to testify, but I doubt he will. It will be interesting enough to have Cohen, Trump and Hannity testify. And hopefully the judge will order that the missing documents from Davidson be turned over.
  8. Beto's mother's company failed to report transactions over $10,000. Beto and his campaign did not make this error. It is not even clear based on the articles I have read so far that his mother had anything to do with this error other than she should have gotten a better acccountant. This is a serious reach by Cruz and another demonstration of his questionable character and his distortion of facts.
  9. Trump will be the last Republican president for more than 20 years.
  10. Would this new lawsuit allow Avennatti to gain access to the relevant Cohen tapes? I don't know enough about legal discovery in such a case, but I am guessing the tapes are a big reason for the lawsuit.
  11. I like cute skinny girls. My last girlfriend weighed 77 pounds at 4'9". She did not look starved just tiny. Lots of guys who come to the Philippines like slimmer women and are not fans of typical American/Australian/European fat chicks. She was and still is 22 years old, in case you were curious.
  12. Do it as sumo wrestling.
  13. If you actually read this site there are many individual Republican voters who now say they are independents or will otherwise consider non-Republican opponents. It would be interesting to see a poll on it rather than anecdotal testimony, but it is clear that the Republican base is shrinking. I would love to see some real numbers on it. We should learn more in November.
  14. Trump thinks polysyllabic is a lesbian 3-some.
  15. What I do not understand is that kneeling has always been a deeper sign of respect or reverence than standing. You would think Trump would want all of his subjects to kneel.
  16. Just read on Daily Kos (I know) the latest filings in Manafort. The writer brought up that one of his daughters claims that Manafort was in some way partly responsible for the Maiden Square murders. This opens up the possibility that if Trump were to pardon him Manafort could be sent to Ukraine to face justice there. Or, he could face other charges.
  17. And Trump says, It's good to be the King.
  18. Melania could shoot him and not be indicted.
  19. Weekly news in the run-up to mideterms
  20. There were 9 million voters in 2016. We can estimate how many die each year by looking at the average age of eligible voters, say 18 to 85 which encompasses 67 years. 9 million divided by 67 is 134 thousand. Now older people are more likely to vote and more likely to die, so my 100,000 estimate stated previously is likely off by 50,000, so make it 150,000 Texas voters die each year and they will be disproportionately Republican voters as they are predominantly older white voters. I do agree that Latinos straight out of high school or newly naturalized do not tend to vote, but over time enough of them will to add up.
  21. It was some research I did during the run-up to the 2016 election and posted on the old site. Basically (off the top of my head) about 100,000 Texas voters die each year with ~75% of of those being republican voters for a net loss of 50,000 votes a year. It is easy to account for 175,000 new Latino voters since that is approximately the number graduating high school each year. There is a smaller group being naturalized each year along with a lot of other foreigners that tend to lean Democratic. It might be more accurate to say 175,000 to 200,000, but I seem to recall reading that the numbers will shrink a little sometime next decade.
  22. The last I checked around 75,000 Texas Republicans die each year and 175,000 Latinos become newly eligible voters. Those and other demographic shifts add up over time. In 10 years Texas will be firmly Democratic with regard to statewide races. We don't know exactly when we will start seeing the transition, but it could be as early as 2018 or 2020. It would be a bad bet to say it will be 2028 or later.
  23. No I am not. What does puzzle me why you are opposed to having sex with beautiful young (but legal aged) women? Do you go into a club and look for old and unattractive women? Are you opposed to having sex? Are you into young men and find women unattractive? Of course, those are all ok things but I don't think they apply to most of the men who post here.
  24. That is a stupid thing to say. Of course I hope the economic growth continues. On the other hand I don't expect it to for very much longer.
