Well they claim to be the party of personal responsibility so why would they want accountability?  I already took personal responsibility for my actions therefore no one can hold me accountable. Makes perfect sense.

Unfortunately, that's not how personal responsibility works. I know the GOP wishes it were, but it's not. These douche nozzles don't care about anything but keeping their dirty secrets from coming to light. This testimony is a farce.

    god doesn’t exist.

While there may not be proof of the existence of God, if you are going to assert that no gods exist you must demonstrate that no gods exist. As it a near impossibility to prove a negative, the best practice is to not make assertion like this. Instead, simply force the deists to prove their God does exist by providing evidence that can be tested and stand up to scientific scrutiny.

You are just making yourself look like an ass here because this is a recruiting thread and the subject matter has fuckall to do with your statement.

Seems like some super powers want to punch some blows and haven't really been able to.

I'm not so sure that is the goal. However, that may be an unintended consequence. It's more likely, Russia's goal is to destabilize the world's reliance upon the US economy and assert itself in its place following the vacuum that will result. So instead of forcing the issue diplomatically as it should've been, this move will seek to further downgrade the US with the rest of the world as we recoil into ourselves militarily. There are a few other aspects already working to erode our internal ability to remain at the forefront of the world economy. Anyone with a pulse knew from the outset of the promise that Mexico was never going to pay for any infrastructure along the border, i.e. the wall. With trump shifting from that front to trying to force Congress, read the tax payer, to foot the bill it would draw funds from other desperately needed infrastructure projects such as bridges and dams. Next, there were the "tax cuts" that added onto the already massive deficit and will only make it grow faster because there isn't any capital to either pay it and/or fund the other necessary elements of the government. This entire charade is taking us further down into the depths of an abyss. These are willful actions that have a very real consequence. This isn't being done by some incompetent baffoon; at least with someone incompetent in the oval office they are limited by their own intellect. This is being done by someone who wants to have a complete paradigm shift on the world stage and if it takes risking a nuclear standoff to do it, they will. The problem here is that if it comes to that, the death toll of human lives will be catastrophic.

  4. At some point, march-april-may time frame, the baylor inquiry in the NCAA will produce whatever the sanctions levied against them for the scandal for the rape cover ups will be.

There is also the spring game to look forward to.

Lastly, we can maybe look forward to maybe hearing about whatever gains have been made in Yancy's offseason program.

Fuck the offseason is long and it sucks.

Nope sorry, her body with another human inside of her.  It's not just her body, as many times as people say that, it's just not factually accurate.  Her mental state is for damn sure at play in such a decision.

I'm glad you are a clinical psychologist qualified to make such determinations about others with regard to their mental state. By and large the vast majority of all abortions are not late-stage when the nerve endings in the fetus would've developed. I don't buy the bullshit company-line that life begins at conception that religious organizations and sycophants push upon anyone who will listen. This is why I said in a different post the only people who get any input into a decision about an abortion are the mother, the father, and their doctor. It doesn't make one single fuck either way what you, or I, or anyone else want or think because none of us will have anything to do with any aspect of the procedure or child if the decision were made to go the other way. If you want to carry something on your conscience that had fuckall to do with you then that's your choice but it doesn't weigh at all on mine.

Interesting this thread is now a few days old, and not one mention that NATO approved of Trump's decision, and very little mention that Russia has been violating this treaty for years, but yes, Trump bad, so carry on.

Whether NATO or anyone else approves, pulling out of nuclear treaties aimed at reducing nuclear arms is objectively bad. Instead of pulling out of the treaty, the smarter move if Russia is violating the treaty, is to address it diplomatically and if allegations are found to be accurate then impose additional sanctions and force the offending country to return to compliance or suffer economically. It's abundantly clear the previous sanctions were effective and made the Russian government hurt.

    Legalize all drugs?

    giphy.webp

Yes. Legalization means it can be regulated and people dont have to import substances from outside the country to do what they are going to do anyway. This cuts down on crime within the country because things someone does privately wouldn't be illegal thus not subject to legal prosecution anymore. Furthermore, it kills the revenue for the cartels outside the country where we have no jurisdiction. Lastly, taxation of dispensaries would be a huge revenue boost to that can enable tax cuts elsewhere.

There are more parties involved than "just" the mother, that is true. But the mother, imo, should have the final say.

It's rich when politicians, men with no stake in the personal situation, and religious leaders chime in and condemn both the act of abortion and the woman who opts for that path. Some of those are sincere, no doubt, but many, many more are opportunists.

It's a difficult balancing act, that of what the mother wants and what others want. There will never be an easy decision point on this, imo. I think Roe did a fair to good job in breaking it up into trimesters and the balancing between the state's and the mother's interests.

But again, and again, and again... the BEST way to reduce the number of abortions is to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies. How to do that? A number of ways: sex education and  available contraception come to mind.

But guess what? Which political party is against this? The one who cries the most against abortion. And I'm not even going to get into the supreme hypocrisy of the Catholic Church on this issue. (at this point, it's hard to believe that any serious person of the Christian faith would still be a Catholic, but I digress).

The only other concerned parties are the father and the doctor. The father's genetic material is at stake, however  beyond that he isn't required to do anything or able to do anything except try to have an external influence on the situation the mother has to carry the child and do all of the heavy lifting involved with the child actually forming. It's from her body the fetus will get the  necessary materials and nutrients to grow and develop.

The doctor is involved only because they make recommendations based on their medical opinion and may be called upon to carry out a procedure.

I wholeheartedly agree the best path forward is with a robust sex education program.

So while anyone and everyone will have their own views based on their religious background, the situation has nothing to do with anyone except the people I noted above. Those with opinions that are contrary to a choice someone else makes are pretty much irrelevant, as are the opinions of someone like myself. I can't carry a child and I have zero genetic input into a hypothetical child between two other people. I won't have anything to do with the care or upbringing of the hypothetical child after it's born, thusly I (as well as the rest if society) has zero ground to stand up to try and assert some form of input into what someone else decides to do with their body.

I get that.  That doesn’t make it right and it doesn’t make it immune from change.  There are more parties involved here than just the woman.

So when you, as a man, are able to carry a child you can enter the conversation. Her body, her choice. Period.

  10. All this does is incentivizes if not directly pushes the Russians to develop Intermediate nukes they can use to escalate or coerce Europe to cooperate with them and not with us. If I were to guess, this is one of the items putin pushed trump to do so as to not make Russia look like the aggressors. With the US pulling out of the treaty, Russia is free to develop this arena without fear of reprisal on the international community in the form of additional sanctions from the US for breaking the treaty. I'm wondering what other treaties or accords are going to get destroyed and further strengthen  Russia's hand in the near future as long as dotard is in the oval office.

Disarmament is a pipe dream. Nukes will be around forever, and any nation disarming itself is doing itself a disservice.

And before you run around applauding South Africa, let's be clear. They denuclearized so that blacks wouldn't have control of their nuclear arsenal.

I don't think disarmament is a pipedream. We just need world leaders on all sides strong enough to lead us to it. Presently, that is not the landscape that exists and won't until major changes occur in Russia. We have elections every 4 years and can get new leadership that can possibly work towards that end at most every 8 years.

There are significant hurdles that get in the way of working towards that goal by way of the wealthy pushing for contracts to build such weapons here in the US and oligarchs in Russia meddling in the affairs of the government.

I'm not blind to the issues in South Africa and the reasoning they had for disarming. However they, nevertheless, did disarm on their own. Which was why I stated they have their own shady history. that is something that can't be overlooked. However, disarmament is still possible.

  12. The answer here isn't more fucking nuclear arms. The only acceptable answer is disarmament by all concerned. I understand the concept of mutually assured destruction and I don't want that for anyone. Diplomacy must win the day and this is taking everyone away from that. I applaud South Africa for being the only country in the history of the world to completely denuclearize on their own. Granted, they have a shady past that still haunts them, but at least they can stand before the world and say they aren't going to nuke anyone.

  13. The Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, the one that the US and Russia signed to agree to not stage nuclear arms right next to each other in allied countries... yeah dear leader is ending it. The US will no longer be signatory to one of the strongest and biggest factors that helped ease tensions during the cold war.

The notion of adding any nuclear arms to the planet is such a terrible idea. This is a horrible day and we are watching something infamous unfold.

US pulls out of treaty report:

    Russia will respond in-kind:

  14. Just read the story. It's definitely a punch to the gut to learn of the final state of someone like Tommy Nobis. Obviously we all look back on him with reverence and for good reason. It's shuttering to think about those in the future who may suffer a similar fate or are already doing so today. As Roma eloquently pointed out, "we all desire to see our guy lay a hit on the other guy because it's something we can't do ourselves." I'm glad steps are being taken to avoid head injuries in the game today, even if it means we as fans no longer get the hits we once or still might crave. On a personal note, I know a lot of guys who have dealt with head injuries from combat or their vehicle hitting a mine/IED. There is a huge difference in the situations we choose to place ourselves in and those that are out of our control. We are on a better path, even if we've only taken a couple steps down it to limiting or taking CTE issues out of the game of football altogether. I would really like to see a joint initiative led by the NFL and the DOD to come up with a treatment plan to help those who might have issues with this and/or design helmets to further cut down the risk for each according to the profession they are used for.
