That was pretty good. Some interesting moments.

Quite a lot slower than F1. Just can't accelerate or corner the same way, which is I'm sure why they were allowed to go so wide on the second to last corner. To stay on track they would have to slow so much and would look too slow on the main straight in front of the grandstands.

the cars are down about 200 hp, 2 gears, and don't make the race to race changes to aero that F1 cars do (not to mention no DRS).  that same aero package is used at temporary street races, go kart tracks like barber, and power tracks like cota and road america.  the engine size is going up to 2.4 liters in 2021 so the cars will be making another 100 hp which should knock another couple seconds off, i'd expect.  assuming they come back.

and this whole series probably runs on less money than just ferrari or mercedes F1.

If you tell me that the EC system as is has become obsolete over the past 230 years due to population growth and shifts, I can go there with you.

If you tell me popular vote is the best solution, i don’t think I can believe that.

If you tell me that we should change to popular vote because it’s better than Electoral and then we can come up with and evaluate other options...I don’t know that it is so why can’t we keep the EV while we evaluate?

the primary system needs a massive overhaul, but that's a different problem.  you could do both at the same time.

  3. OBTW, Stadium Super Trucks may be the coolest thing I've ever seen. That is some entertaining, fucking awesome shit.
After watching highlights of it on YouTube I'm really disappointed I'm not there

Track limits? What track limits? is really weird

  4. the concern for the electoral college was that virginians would all vote for the virginian on the ticket and no one from rhode island could get elected president.  that, of course, never happened. political parties formed almost immediately and completely overrode that concern.  (the winner take all electoral college systems of most states actually exacerbates this - see walter mondale).  it was also supposed to prevent demagogues from being elected but, since the constitution doesn't specify that, rather voting for a presidential ticket, you're voting for an expert panel to pick the president, it's never really worked that way and doesn't do anything to prevent a demagogue from being elected.

so, the two concerns it was built to address either 1) don't exist and 2) don't get fixed by it.

then there's the whole problem of the whole thing being tainted with racism.  first, that states got additional representation in it for populations denied the franchise (and let's not forget that those populations are to this day having to fight for the franchise).  second, that the boundaries and admission of states prior to 1865 was consciously done with the goal of protecting slavery in the senate, so the states themselves (and those 2 electoral votes they get based on senate representation) are permanently and intrinsically tainted with racist slavery.

yeah, that was the one i posted.

we were paying spectrum $215 for 100/s internet, home phone, and cable box/dvr in 2 rooms with no premium cable channels.

even with the $10 raise in costs, now we pay $155 for 400/s internet, home phone, and directvnow with hbo.

the new samsung 58" with 2 rokus and new mount + mounting service in 2 rooms was about $900 so i still feel pretty good about the overall situation.

just need to figure out how to stream mlb thru reddit thru roku.  i tried poprism and it's like trying to get on the internet in 1993.  may just have to suck it up and resubscribe to mlb.tv

The mlb.tv app on roku is pretty great from what I have seen so far.  You can re watch the whole game or start at a specific inning if you can't watch from the start.

mlb.tv subs are going to be free through tmobile tuesdays this upcoming tuesday.  there will be more than a handful of people selling the code on slickdeals for a $5 amazon gift card.

Not sure if it's been mentioned before, but if you are using Roku Ultra, and for most other Rokus, when you are finished viewing be sure to hit the home button on the Roku remote before you turn off your TV.  The Roku will continue to stream live TV unless the streaming service itself has an auto off feature.  Some streaming services like Netflix and some others have auto-off features, but, for example, YoutubeTV will continue to stream even when the TV is off.  I need to check if YouTubeTV has an auto-off feature.  I just came close to exceeding the monthly 1T limit on Comcast because of this.  I've read that the Roku 4 has an auto-off feature in Settings, but my Roku Ultras do not have the feature.  I noticed this recently when I turned the TV back on in the morning and a live show on YoutubeTV immediately appeared.  At 1.5GB (1080p) per hour with several TVs connected it can add up.

a friend of mine calls into comcast any month he's about to go over, switches to unlimited, then switches back the next month.
