Fuck me... my first thought when I saw that Fed Employees were sent home early for the day was “what a wonderful time to attack.” -
I can't understand how this is possible... but California...
It’s really a different world out west. Oh how I miss having easy access to Weller at $50-60 and RVW for $80-$100 -
Had cocktails in that room the other night, then she told me I was handsome at dinner I’m front of my colleagues. Capped the night with Pappy 15 and Highland Park 18. /csb
She’s an incredible woman and a true joy to be around. Her husband is not to be trifled with but is in every way deserving of her. -
I mean that is beyond “clinical”... you should be institutionalized.
Mostly so I can come and grab some of that goodness.
My LAWD! -
I bought a store pick of Sagamore from the Oak Cabinet in Austin. It wasn’t cask strength, but damn it was good. Maryland’s reputation for making good ryes is well deserved.
One of my favorite parts of the tour was an interactive map of pre-prohibition Maryland where you could explore every distillery. Blows my mind that at one point there were over 50 in the state and really nothing survived outside of a few brands, Pikesville being one of them.-

Which offering was your favorite? Great distillery. They’re certainly on the list.
Their Double Oak is outstanding and I also enjoy the Cask Strength.
Did a little stock analysis after the holiday dent and moved things around. I keep telling people that I don’t have a problem.m, but they’re not apt to believe me...-

We stopped by Sagamore here in Baltimore last week and finally did the tour, which was excellent. Got to try 4 of their rye offerings along with two limited releases: a rum barrel and a cognac which was housed in 30yo Remy barrels.
Highly recommend the tour if you’re in town and their rye in general.-

Second night of a back to back. Legs just weren't there. LAL played decent D, but Dallas missed so many good looks. Wish it was a better showing for TV, but whatever, on to the next one.
At the end, the announcers noted that LA “held” Dallas to 37% shooting, which I thought was funny after our boys had just missed 10 straight open looks.
Just wasn’t our night. -
I keep wondering why retail hasn’t moved up to match demand. Moving Eagle Rare to $50 and Blanton’s to $100 would slow the velocity and improve margin.
Do distillers/distributors have any control there? I assume they’d prefer the situation as it currently stands. -
Colt is all class and I can’t wait for him to get out of the utter shithole that is Washington.

I’ve never understood the “scored too fast” comment. You score when you can score.
This ain’t checkers, son... it’s chess. -
Too much time...

I found a 1960s era Mr. Boston's drink book at a Half Priced Books years ago. Need to find that baby and make some classics.
You mean like this one? Got the 1967 version as a gift a few years back and it’s pretty great.
Very traditional, obviously, and holds too many drinks that require sugar or egg for my liking, but it’s a staple.
One of my favorites is the Lawhill, but you Sazerac fans get it. -
Mars, bitches!

Why give them any business at all? Places who want to mark up like that can fuck off, and I won’t spend any money with them.
First time I’ve seen 1910 on the shelf this year - Otherwise I would have happily walked with nothing. -
Good lawd!

I'm very grateful to have it because that's my "and coke" bourbon, but It's a sad state of affairs when somebody has to pull a handle of Weller Special Reserve out of the back room.
I'm not posting a pic because it's depressing.
You want depressing? How about this for ya...
Went to a regular honey hole today that I hadn’t visited in months, only to see all this behind the counter and nearly lose my shit:
Being of sound mind despite my excitement, I asked the lady behind the counter for a few price checks:
Weller Special Reserve: $300
GTS: $600
Sazerac: $800
WLW: $1500
Old Fitz: $400
I laughed and walked to the back, found a bottle of 1910 for $49 and took that out the door.
Such a shame to see so many bottles I’ve been searching for in a single location only to be confronted with aftermarket prices. Fuck the prospectors!-

Chili's chips and salsa is garbage.
You shut your dirty whore mouth!
Some of us like sodium vehicles disguised as Tex-Mex... -
Here’s some industry news that will make the rounds this morning. Al Young, longtime brand Ambassador for Four Roses, passed on Christmas Day. I’ve had the pleasure of dining with Al and picking barrels with him. A great man and a great bourbon historian. RIP Al
^^^ Thats a shame... will have to pour out a 4R tonight -
Hope so, but I don’t want him going until he is absolutely ready. Casey and Rick have a good track record there, but this is the kind of injury that you want to rest properly.

Mixed it up this year and did brisket instead of the normal ham.
Sides: Corn Casserole, Whipped Garlic Mashed, Bacon Brussels
6lb brisket cooked for 8 hours with a 2 hour rest:-

Can I just vent for a moment about the potential absurdity of fantasy football?
I dominated my big $ league all year, losing in the last two weeks to the #2 and 3 teams by less than 5 points, but still out scoring the field by 20+ points. That put me in the 3 seed but I was still poised to dominate in the playoffs.
Enter week 14, where 3 of the top 4 teams, routinely scoring 130+ each week, scored under 85 points, thus allowing four 6-7 teams to advance to the semi finals.
The guy who won the league, for a 5k payout mind you, had the second lowest total points for the season.-

Christmas Casserole:
- Spicy Breakfast Sausage
- Leftover Roasted Pork Shank
- 4 Eggs
- 2 Varieties of Cheddar
- Dinner Rolls and Baguette torn into Pieces
- Sweet Peppers
- Spices to Taste
Now, normally you coat this in milk and let it coagulate over night, but we ran out of milk so we improvised. Turns out, if you water down ranch dressing and use the same approach, it is equally delicious...-

Love almost everything I’ve had from Kavalan. They know what they’re doing.
Same, same.

A little on the high side for that bottle but you’ll likely enjoy it all the same.
