  1. Huge, I hope you got a Double Oak for yourself...

Friend ended up having an extra at his bar. Not my favorite on first taste... hot as hell for 100 proof with minimal complexity.

Will give it another try later as a side-side.

  2. Nevermind the OWA.  I’ll say it again, Redemption Wheated is better than both non-store pick OWA and RY10.  It’s also cheaper and more available if you’re more into the drinking than collecting.

Will add it to the list and do a side-side.
  3. I'd lean Hurts.
Buffalo/ NE game might be something like 19-6

See, for some reason I think Buffalo wants to make a statement and bury the Pats, and Allen shows no sign of slowing down... that said, may sign Baker off waivers and continue to consider throughout the week.

Has Buff given any indication or resting players? If not, I think this is personal, and they’re gonna beat the Pats while they’re down.
  4. Do you ever play with them like action figures?

    Holy shit...

If I start doing more detailed reviews, I’m claiming that as my shtick!

Shame I got rid of all of WW2 1/16 a few years back, but I can improvise...

Also, Brew, if you’re lacking that 1792 FP SiB... that needs to be remedied.
  5. How would you guys rank your ten favorite readily available bottles for under $60?

After I took this shot I couldn’t believe I blanked on Woodinville, so if I had to swap the Ezra would get the axe.

  6. Nothing wrong with ‘42 - It’s solid, goes down easy and will impress most company. I’ve found better in my many years of drinking tequila, but it’s often the best thing available at most bars/restaurants.

  7. These stores are becoming rare

Which is why I spend my money there - Places like Total Wine are purely about mid-tier and new curiosities.

Outside of the place down the road where I can routinely find BT for $23 and ER for $30, I shop almost exclusively at two privately owned stores.

1 - Mom and pop that does big volume and gives me BTAC at least once a year (2500-3k yearly spend)
2 - Fine wine shop owned by the city‘s second biggest restauranteurs where I can now get everything but god-tier simply by asking (1k yearly spend)

Next year should be interesting as I have the bar mostly built out and it’s gonna take me a decent clip to move through this hooch... will likely lean on #1 as that’s where we buy the bulk of our daily drinker wine.

  8. Shit, man... ain’t nothing wrong with that approach. This whole deal is about what works for you. Find that and you find happiness.

There’s a lot of overlap in what works for us here simply due to the limited range of palettes our anatomy affords, but if someone tells me they drink Blenheims 6 days a week I won’t bat an eye. You do you...

  9. Batch 2 right? I think I lucked out with Barch 3. Supposed to be the most rye forward/unique tasting.

Yep, part of the reason I was able to get it. My main guy has customers who spend 50k+ per year and they obviously get first dibs but all passed on this bottle. Part of the reason I didn’t walk out the store with his only Woodford Master’s Collection... gotta check with the big cigars first. But I’m next in line, and for spending maybe 3k per year at his shop I can’t complain about that...

Still, I have no regerts with this bottle - The back end really sings and I love the lingering banana. Interested to hear your review of Batch 3!

  10. Ok, couple thoughts on the OF150:

    1) It tastes WAY hotter than the documented proof
    2) Perhaps the heaviest banana note on an OF I’ve tasted, clearly leaning into their reputation
    3) Call me crazy, but I pick up a little RC Cola on the nose...
