  1. Yep. Wout did not appear to be in top form in last year's Tour. I hope getting to be the team lead motivates him.
  2. It was a good season overall with a lot of skilled players who came to play and no obvious villain(s). Dee deserved to win, but certainly owes Katurah a big thank you. I don't necessarily think Julie wins if Katurah votes out Dee. In that scenario, there is a decent chance that the final 3 are Katurah, Jake, and Austin, as no one would have wanted to take Julie to the end. Julie might have won the final elimination challenge, but we'll never know. Speaking of the elimination challenge, were the heights and spaces adjusted for leg length and foot size? It seemed like one of those challenges that should be adjusted for body size. Kendra voted for Austin because she has the hots for him. It's no more complicated than that. I agree with @Pokoloco that Austin lost the second he told Dee that Julie was the target. He still would have had to get rid of Drew himself, but at least he would have had a path to win. I also agree that Dee admitting that she told Julie helped her much more than it hurt her. Not breaking up Dee and Austin as soon as they became a thing doomed everyone not named Dee. Prevailing wisdom suggests that Showmances are best avoided if you want to win, but Dee and Amber would disagree.
  3. I'm not sure if that fully covers all reparations that they owe us, but it's close.
  4. I hope we have enough lollipops to go along with all of these ass whoopins.
  5. This likely belongs in the unpopular opinions thread, but I like Jonas. His style isn't as flashy as the other top riders, and neither is his personality, but I'm wired the same way, so I can identify with him.
  6. Love them or hate them, you have to admire how they manage their team.
  7. I was going to suggest that @Knoxtnhorn rename the old TdF thread so we could keep that rolling, but this works. To answer your question, yes, Pog can win the double, but I do not think he will. Barring injury, I expect Visma/Vingegaard to again win the Tour. I do like Pog for the Giro, but weird shit often happens in Italy, so we'll have to fuck around and find out. It looks like Visma may give van Aert some leadership leash at the Giro, so that will be fun if it actually happens. I will be curious to see whether Bora improves enough to seriously support Roglič, and of course the same with Quick Step and Evenepoel. There is more top end talent than ever. It's a good time to be a cycling fan.
  8. I caught it last night, and this was my thought as well. It had some really good moments, but dragged in several places. Much of the social commentary felt forced and fell a bit flat. It's worth a watch if you can't find anything else that appeals to you, but I would not consider it "must see" cinema.
  9. Clearly, the appropriate response is to sign multiple Corn transfers this offseason.
  10. Texas - 37 Washington - 33 Penix - 29-44 303 yards, 3 TD, 1 INT, 2 sacks for -12 yards
  11. It is okay to like both Friends and Seinfeld. I'm not sure why the discussion tends to be so polarizing, or why one has to be declared better than the other. The main reason that they get compared is because they were aired back-to-back for years, during NBC's "must see TV" years. If they existed years apart or were on different networks, I doubt they'd be discussed in the same breath. Most people who watched one likely watched the other. I think both would have been successful without the other, but they absolutely benefited from being shown consecutively.
  12. This pretty much sums it up for me. I thought it was a bit unfair to have such a physically demanding task (trapeze) that would clearly be much more difficult for some teams, but Greg and John didn't really have any weaknesses, so they were going to be difficult to beat no matter what.
  13. NCAA is still tacking on rules for the TRO. Not sure how this would impact Cook. https://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/39114574/ncaa-transfers-compete-tro-lose-eligibility-decision-reversed
  14. Don't we already have something like 12 pitchers in that same exact situation?
  15. The Mavs have mostly been winning against teams without a pulse, but it's always nice to take down the Lakers. I don't know how they managed it with most of the team injured, but I'll take it. The West is just brutally evenly matched. I can see Dallas finishing anywhere from 2 to 12. Realistically, the 6-seed feels about right, but so much depends on which teams can get healthy and play to their potential.
  16. Well a girl's gotta have her standards...much like Robinson choosing Texas.
  17. I agree with all of that, but my grapes would still be sour with envy.
  18. I'm going to be very annoyed if Villa finish above Arsenal in the table. Emery appears to have them playing better than what he accomplished with the Gunners. I prefer Arteta, but it's still annoying.
  19. Yep. My preferred order is dad/son, beards, brothers, but all are likeable. It's been a good season.
  20. No, if it were up to me, I would not have hired RT away from UTEP. No one would have. Where we cease to share common ground is that I have not already come to the conclusion that what we saw from RT at UTEP is the best he will ever do. I mean, he showed last season that he is at least capable of competently leading a team with a lot of potential to the Elite Eight. He has also shown that he is capable of attracting talent to Texas, or at least not scaring it away if you think NIL is the primary factor that determines where players sign. It remains to be seen if he is capable of repeatedly turning a collection of talent into a cohesive team that makes deep postseason runs. No coach, even those with skins on the wall, accomplishes that every season, not even Saint Beard. You like to constantly remind everyone that you think hiring RT was a huge mistake. You do it when any little thing goes wrong. You do it when any little thing goes right. I suspect you even do it in your sleep. Trust me, WE KNOW. We ALL know. I would suggest that you do not need to keep reminding us, but something inside you says that if you keep repeating it, we will suddenly agree with you. I also know that telling you that we won't isn't going to change anything. My point has always been that RT is the Head Coach at Texas, even if he isn't who any of us would have hired when he was at UTEP. Most of us have come to terms with why he was hired. Can we at least see what he can accomplish in this role before we constantly shit on him? If he performs the way you expect, then sure, scream it from the top of The Tower what a horrible hire this was. You'll likely have a lot of company to that end. No one is going to forget that you told us all. I'm not predicting years of unparalleled success, and I have not seen anyone else do that. I'm simply suggesting we give RT the same opportunity to prove himself that we would anyone else that we could have hired. He's here. He deserves that much.
