  1. Shit happens, especially injuries. I'd rather too few minutes to go around than players.
  2. I already know the answer, but is it too much to ask that we keep the Texas Basketball 2023-24 thread about the current team? (It was too much to ask.) If some of you assholes want to keep talking about a former coach and his staff, there is another thread for that. (Why post in an appropriate thread when this one is right here?)
  3. One thing that I am really enjoying about this version of Arsenal is that players truly want to be on the club, and ownership is willing to pay to acquire and keep them. No watching our best players leave for other top clubs. No overpaying for scrubs and giving away actual talent because we are desperate. It's been a while since we had a clear vision of the club we wanted to build and a viable means to make it happen. I don't know if this will lead to any trophies, but we should at least compete for years to come.
  4. na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na ....
  5. I enjoyed Three Pines very much. Another series that references the residential schools topic is Anne with an E (Netflix). It's a different genre of show, but decent.
  6. I never said I wasn't in favor of it.
  7. It appears that someone had a dream that we changed the name of our country to "Vince Young."
  8. Yep. We should have an idea of who can win after these two stages.
  9. Pretty sure he misspelled Neanderthal man.
  10. Trying to go inside when the finish wasn't straight was stupid. He's expecting Jasper to not take the shortest route to the line?
  11. I agree that we will have to see what Pogačar's form is before discounting him as a contender. I just have a feeling that it won't be where it needs to be. Also while Emirates definitely has some talent and depth, I don't think they are quite at Jumbo's level, which means Pogačar has to do more work than Vingegaard. That was part of the issue last year. I could be wrong, and one crash or illness could easily tilt the scales. I'm looking forward to seeing it play out, regardless.
  12. So did South Austin's mom. Some people claim Terry didn't have any part in our success last year as well. There is a lot of credit to be handed out to a number of people. I think the point that was being made is that Donewald was likely not an irreplaceable piece. Let's hope that's the case.
  13. He's still young and resilient, but I really don't think Pogačar is going to be a serious contender this year. I think that crash where he hurt his wrist derailed his training. He was in good form before that, so who knows, but if I'm betting, but money is going on someone else, Vingegaard until proven otherwise.
  14. I think seeding is likely the best measure of a season's success more so than what actually happens in the tournament, but it also creates expectation. Of course, if we routinely get a top four seed but fail to make the second weekend more often than not, we are not going to be content. For me personally, I expect to make the tournament every year. I also expect to reach or exceed the potential of our seed the majority of the time. I can live with an occasional failure, but there needs to be an obvious reason (injuries would be the most common cause). I would love to see the basketball program reach a level where we are a 4-seed or higher most years. I was hopeful we were going to reach that level with Beard. I don't know whether Terry can achieve that, but time will tell. I'm not sure where my acceptable level of success is, probably peak Barnes era.
  15. What site do you think this is?
  16. Clearly you are not familiar with that amazing 2010-2011 Shanghai Sharks team. Sure, they only went 8-17, but their ceiling was 4 games at best. Donewald single handedly willed them to 4 wins above expectation. Seriously, I think seeing Texas actually have an offense that worked last season elevated Donewald to "guru" status in the eyes of a lot of fans. I have no idea whether he deserves the credit he has been given, more, or less, but he was in charge of the offense, and it appeared to be the most capable that most of us can remember. That does not mean that we we can't be as successful, or more so, with Haith in charge, but not everyone shares that opinion.
  17. I sure hope so if we intend to have him on the roster this fall.
  18. Finally. I'm not sure I'll ever acclimate to EPL transfers. Things get reported as "done" and then suddenly they aren't.
  19. We're going to have to pay attention to how the arm covers read when crossed...unless he is hoping for NIL deals with "ALL RAKES Lawncare."
  20. I completely agree. It took me a little while to warm to Arteta because things got worse before they started getting better, but I trust him and Edu completely. The difference between missing out on primary targets now versus the past is that we move on to other primary targets instead of settling for players that don't make us better.
  21. Yeah. We made our offer. If the market demands more than we want to pay, then we'll spend it on someone else...maybe whomever Rice ends up replacing at MC. It's discouraging to miss out on players we want, but it is very encouraging that we have shown an ability to move on and find really good, if not better, alternatives.
  22. Why do I still feel like Chelsea is going to swoop in at the last second and outbid us?
  23. I expect Portal Patty to upgrade, as ridiculous as that may seem.
