  1. Who besides Beard are the elite roster builders?
  2. Who besides Beard would have passed on Keyonte George? All the top alternatives to Terry who are currently at college programs are watching the rest of the tournament from home (unless you think there is any possibility we could get Few - I don't). Why? Were they incapable of building a roster that could win it all or did they fail to coach them when it mattered most? In a year where winning a National Championship is as wide open as it has ever been, why have none of these better options stepped up to show us why they deserve to be the coach at Texas? None of us wants to see Texas settle for anything less than the best possible option to coach men's basketball or any sport. Rodney Terry continues to demonstrate why he should be seriously considered, while the alternatives have all shit the bed. Maybe CDC has a home run hire in mind that we haven't considered or who we assumed was unavailable, but if he ends up "taking the easy route" and hiring Terry, he'll get no complaints from me.
  3. If that is what you inferred from my comments, then I'll have to backtrack. My original message was in response to another poster who suggested that Texas winning the first two games of the tournament should be expected because we were the 2 seed and that it in some manner diminishes Terry's accomplishments. I don't think being a 2 seed alone earns earns the job any more than I think failing to reach the Elite Eight loses it. People are putting way too much stock in reaching a specific level in the tournament. That was my point. I don't know if Terry would be my first choice to coach Texas next season, but I'm having trouble coming up with a list of realistic candidates that would be an obvious choice over him. Thankfully, I don't have to make that decision, and I have full confidence in the person who does.
  4. I don't disagree with this at all. What I do disagree with is not giving any credit to Terry for earning the 2 seed and hinging his possible hiring on the outcome of one game.
  5. Others have made this argument, but to me, it implies that Terry had little or nothing to do with Texas achieving that 2 seed, or that it would be more impressive if we reached the Sweet 16 as a 7 seed. Fuck that. Give me the 2 seed path all day long. If Terry has Texas achieving that year in and year out, I'll be a happy camper.
  6. I agree that it was a disappointing end to the season, but not at all unexpected. This entire season has had a "not our year" feel to it for all the reasons that have already been mentioned. Vic deserves some of the blame, and he'd be the first to tell you that, but the only luck we had this year was the bad variety. I trust Vic to learn from his mistakes and build a deeper roster, and I fully expect us to be more competitive next season.
  7. I wish this and the two Rodney Terry threads were combined. There are some who will never want Terry, regardless of how far Texas goes in the tournament. I'm not one of them, but would like to hear opinions on who the viable options are at this point. Relatively young coaches with meaningful experience, who win a lot of tournament games without frequently shitting the bed in the first round, and who don't have significant character issues aren't growing on trees. The shine has dulled on a lot of the early candidates. Does anyone even check all of our boxes anymore?
  8. You just answered your own question. That's exactly why he did it. Under the circumstances, I thought it was a smart move. No matter how the vote went, he could plausibly argue that he thought he was a target because if his injury. Being on the wrong side of the vote seems to be more damaging in modern Survivor. We'll see if it impacts Kane at all.
  9. For most of my first time through Rushmore, I though Jason Schwartzman was Tom Cruise.
  10. These would make some good young and old versions of the same character. Leelee Sobieski and Helen Hunt Josh Hartnett and Tommy Lee Jones
  11. I don't know when these photos were taken, but dude is looking pretty old to me. Looks like his endorsement game is still strong, though, so good for him.
  12. I don't disagree, but I still think 2015-16 was there for the taking. While Arsenal finished 10 points back of winners Leicester, they did end up in second, and a relatively low 81 points was enough to win it. The league overall was down. In the end, the Gunners had too many injuries, no meaningful depth, and blew too many matches against the bottom of the table. At least they finished ahead of Tottenham.
  13. He doesn't even post in the Tottenham thread. He's like the aggy fan who would rather have Texas lose than aggy win.
  14. Well shit. That changes everything.
  15. I share your optimism, but prepare yourself for posts that will rightfully highlight the role that NIL is playing in recruiting success. Comparing Sark's classes with those of previous coaches isn't a completely fair comparison, even if you assume that simply being Texas has always had inherent advantages.
  16. I have no idea who Tom Cruise's son is, but I hope his name is Carnival.
  17. I finally got around to watching it last night. Gabler sure was getting the "taken to the end because he can't win" edit. Nice blindside of the audience. It really helped that neither Owen nor Cassidy were overwhelmingly deserving, even if both reasonable well at tribal. I don't know what Jesse could have done differently. Sucking both at challenges and making fire really diminished his chances to make final three.
  18. Oh, Jan. You're just jealous that YOU'RE not the president of the Davy Jones Fan Club.
  19. Supposedly as a show of trust, which of course doesn't exist in Survivor.
  20. I share most of the sentiments already posted. I too was pulling for the twins, but Derek and Jenna Elfman Claire were a close second, so had no problem with them winning. I'm not a Big Brother watcher, so had no previous impression of them. I enjoyed the season overall, but hope they are able to bring back at least some of the old format eventually.
