  1. I'm just speculating here, but perhaps the fact that students are still on break, and we are in the middle of a COVID surge had a little impact on attendance.
  2. You celebrate his entire catalog, don't you.
  3. Most of mine have been mentioned, but a few more from my Dallas childhood: Next Door - had a weird Revolutionary War vibe, but was apparently owned by Pizza Hut; the cool factor was that you ordered by phone from your table Farrell's Ice Cream Parlour Baby Does Matchless Mine - it was behind the old Pearl/Coors/Salem/Kool waterfall billboard The Old Church - literally an old church turned into a burger joint in uptown, later became a Chips, not sure what it is now I was also going to include these, but they are apparently still around, though not in the locations I frequented: Chips Hamburgers Tolbert's Chili Parlor
  4. It's certainly encouraging. I still think Kidd will keep us from reaching our potential, but would love to be proven wrong.
  5. Who are four teams that have never been in your kitchen?
  6. Never mind. Late to the party and someone stole my line, as always.
  7. My point was that I don't think he needed a pretext. He just needed the job to be offered.
  8. Yes, I'm sure CDC agonized for days before coming up with "hey Chris, wanna coach Texas?"
  9. Because Cowboys fans need another reason to hate Jerry Jones?
  10. Wordle 202 3/6 🟩⬜⬜⬜🟩 🟩⬜⬜⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩
  11. I've been binging it lately. She makes the show.
  12. My bad, I missed the "must gargle Guy's balls to post in this thread" line in the OP. If you are going to lamely attempt to associate me with some chick show, at least get the name right. While I'm no fanboy, I'd gladly watch Sex and the City over anything with Guy Fieri in it.
  13. That doesn't make me like him or admire his accomplishments. It makes me weep for the future...another small step toward Ow! My Balls!
  14. I'm aware of that, but his persona, whether or not it is real, comes across as a disingenuous mash up of Sammy Hagar and Larry the Cable Guy. I find some personalities grating, and his is one of them. It doesn't matter if he is a genuinely nice guy, he's annoying, at least to me.
  15. My neck just isn't red enough to tolerate him.
  16. I caught it yesterday. I enjoyed it overall, but thought it was a little flat in places and it felt like it was intended to be funnier than it was. I thought Jonah Hill was particularly weak, but maybe that's because he plays every role the same way. Still, it's definitely worth a watch.
  17. I don't care who he is, I'm not cleaning up another man's shit.
  18. She probably uses "about" instead of "scout" too. Bitch.
  19. I found the daily stats to be very informative, and they allowed me to ignore the shit posts. Since all we get now are the never-ending shit posts, it's intolerable. I still check it out of habit, but I need to kick that.
  20. Thanks, assholes, for turning what was once the most informative COVID thread on surly into another worthless shit flinging fest.
  21. I'm not one to sweat the rankings much, especially at this point in the season, but the poll makes no sense to me. We beat number 2 at their place, and they now have 2 losses. Our only loss was to number 7 in OT, also at their place where where they got a lot of home cooking. There are a lot of teams with worse résumés and the same number or more losses ranked ahead of us. We play better with a chip on our shoulder, so let the disrespect continue.
  22. I'm a little surprised that Amazon hasn't jumped into the fray yet. I would think adding standard local and cable offerings and a robust sports package would be an easy addition to the Prime content and add-on subscriptions they already offer.
  23. We've been 4th since beating West Ham on Wednesday, though both ManU and Spurs can pass us, depending on how they do in all of their in hand matches. Still, it's nice to see the improvement. Last year at this time, we were in 15th, 4 points out of relegation.
  24. United are certainly a contender for fourth, but unfortunately, so are Spurs. Don't let their current place and point totals fool you. They have three games in hand against mostly scrubs. Both teams made good manager changes to keep them in it. The silver lining as far as Spurs are concerned is that all of these postponements are going to compress their schedule, which makes it more likely that they will drop some matches they shouldn't. I'm not optimistic of Arsenal's CL chances, but I'd love to be pleasantly surprised.
  25. If this is actually true, I've lost all hope for this program.
