  1. I didn't mind Brooke being pulled in to fill the needed 6th spot, especially since, as noted above, there was no reward for winning. What I don't get is why it was needed. They easily could have done the black box last week instead of the clunky judges' flavor combo crap that they threw together. It's like they were fully expecting to have 6 chefs for two weeks in a row. I really wish it had been a double elimination last night. There is always one chef who lasts longer than they should, but Jamie is making a strong case for two. I have actually liked her at times, and she has cooked well more often than not, but she struggles with any adversity, and doesn't always make good choices on her dish composition. Her constant antics don't help. We are all expecting her to go next. I hope it happens, but wouldn't be shocked if she cooked her best meal while one of the favorites has a major blunder.
  2. This is the issue in a nutshell. What any of us does to fight this thing depends entirely on where we put our trust in the myriad sources of (mis)information. Even for the level-headed well-informed unselfish follow the science types, getting to the cat fax of the matter is way more challenging than it should be. It is way too easy for any mouthpiece to come across as authoritative and credible, and when you combine this with how quickly the guidance can change, it's an extremely frustrating situation. I'm not trying to call into question any of the information quoted above. I honestly don't know which is correct, but I should, and that's the problem.
  3. I haven't seen one good argument for letting humans continue to call balls and strikes, yet 10 people voted for that. That tells me that the only valid reason for choosing that option is "I'm a total spaz and clicked the wrong button."
  4. They had to get rid of the regular utensils. People were stabbing each other for tortillas.
  5. Maybe Jeff will get an extra uncomfortable case of Nutria itch. it sucks for Steven that he is paired with him. Riley better make it to the end.
  6. My tastes have changed over the years. I've gone from preferring the sweetened national brands to those with peanuts as the only ingredient. I normally get the chunky Central Market variety, and add salt to taste. Whatever I pair it with (grape jelly, banana, apple, etc.) has enough sweetness without needing sugar in the peanut butter itself.
  7. If the Mavs did draft Giannis, there's little chance that they would have been in a position to draft Luka, though there's no way to know whether that is true or if they would be a better team than they are now.
  8. I agree with everything you spoilered.
  9. Are you unfamiliar with the origins of “can you help me with this?” in surly/shaggy (may even have been hornfans) lexicon?
  10. Maybe it's because tofu isn't really something that excites me, but that episode was merely "okay" for me. I'll spoiler the rest for those who haven't caught up on LCK.
  11. I'm going to need you to show your work. Edit: Never mind. I just realized that "he" refers to KP not Luka.
  12. We'll have to at least give him an asterisk.
  13. Yep. Dude has more lives than a cat. I don't know who taught him to make pasta, but they are likely in the witness protection program now. It wasn't really clear to me how the recipes were being judged. Tom even said that the person going home was leaving for making a bad dish, not the recipe. Obviously pasta boy's recipe was one of the worst, so I assume it factored in to some extent. I will probably give the Amateurs things a chance, but shows of this nature tend to be too much personal story for me. Just cook, dammit. The inclusions of Top Chef alums may help me power through the fluff.
  14. So the manager we sacked last year because he had us underachieving not only knocks us out of Europa league but wins the whole damn thing and now gets to go to Champions League next season. Why can't we have nice things?
  15. You assholes are going to make me have to reconsider my opinion of him. His schtick is like nails on a chalkboard for me. I have always found him to be unwatchable. Obviously I'm in the minority on this, but that is true regarding many popular opinions.
  16. That is a good point. It could be that the season change hit hard after a night or two, but they do seem to have all magically solved the bug problem. The cold weather appears to be the only factor for tapping so far. I wonder if different team assignments would have made any difference? Probably not. What I find curious is why there is zero sharing of body heat. Is it an (un)written rule? Did all of them make agreements with their spouses that they would tap before resorting to that? And why did Amber never wear her deer pelt (or is my memory failing me)? I don't think I have seen Max or Gary wear one either. Why not give them all to Amber for the sake of the team? All of the men clearly put on weight for the challenge, but I don't think any of the women did...at least not enough for it to be noticeable. Why?
  17. I'd rather be Texas, and get to the point where we don't have to envy anyone's athletic department.
  18. This. Thankfully we don't have to trade anything, and are allowed to enjoy success in all sports.
  19. TCU: No, I insist. Texas: Okay.
  20. You are all wrong. OP asked for area, not approximate area. There are zero rectangles, trapezoids, right angles, or even straight lines in that drawing.
