Disney Suits...sure. The ones in the room that have to deal with the questions and shit can kill this off quickly tomorrow night and not have to deal with it next week when they are dealing with some other controversy.
Now, if the suits at Disney have real sway over the suits in the room, sure, I guess anything is possible.
We will be ranked 13 or 14. If you are the CFP why do you even want to invite the controversy with a bunch of games still to come this weekend? Think like a suit...kill off controversy quickly, leave yourself an out.
Man if I was a Tech fan I would shut the fuck up until I actually got the first outright big boy conference championship ever in the history of my program under my belt and maybe went a few rounds in the playoffs. Tech has had a good season, don't let it go to your head.
Nah, they ran the exact same show I saw 6 days before at the Arkansas game. Which is completely fair, given that most of them had likely gone home for the holiday and thus there was no time to put together something new.
And actually since I saw it twice the funny thing is I was thinking what I was hearing at piggy as they formed the skull at the end was the Confutatis from Mozart's Requiem. The second time I saw it I was certain of it. Obviously a little different in a band arrangement, but it's lowkey funny (as the yutes would say) given it portended the second half deaths of both teams to come.
Consigned to flames of woe
Yep, happens everywhere. Remember the 2011 JAG run of QBs taken within the first 12 picks of the NFL Draft. Jake Locker, Blaine Gaebbert and Christian fucking Ponder. This could end up being like that.
I think Tech's front seven has looked very good this year. I also think Tech's front seven has not played anywhere close to a really physical line this year. We shall see....
There are 5 teams that have never played in an SEC championship game, a game going into its 34th edition. Two of those teams are perennial conference cellar dwellers Kentucky and Vanderbilt. One is 2nd-year member OU. The other two are 14th-year member aggy and Ole Miss, who have been around for all 34 of them.
Fake Army...
I think my favorite moment from the stands was during their "we can march in the same straight lines and play the same songs week after week, year after year" halftime performance, some Texas fan from back behind me yells very loudly, "The guy who killed Bin Laden was a Longhorn" 🤣
The media had built up Texas and Arch well more than they should have. There is nothing the media likes to do more than cover their ass when they overhype something by getting in on the frenzy of tearing it down.
I'm pretty sure the committee is going to move us up to 13 or 14, just like the polls, give themselves enough wiggle room for next week's games to play out in an attempt to kill any and all questions/controversy off quickly. From their point of view moving us up to 11 or 12 would be unbelievably stupid going into the unknowns of the final week.
It will be interesting. SMU lost on a game-ending kick to Clemson last year; it was close. I think if Bama gets its doors blown off as they did to FSU, that might change the calculus. Of course, UGA has beaten Bama head-to-head exactly once in their last 10 meetings.
The current setup has a lot more teams still jockeying at the end and intrigue spread out. But, can you imagine the champ games next weekend in the old BCS era. tOSU vs Indiana would be an elimination game, UGA vs Bama would be a win and you're in game for UGA. Tech would be playing BYU hoping UGA slipped up vs Bama (not far fetched given their history) and they could sneak in.
Goes to show how pointless these champ games have become in the current situation.
The other question is why would LSU who probably just robbed the entire state of Lousiana's budget to pay for Kiffin be ok with him hanging out in Oxford for the next 4-8 weeks.
